Official Rules – My Dream Trip with Aeroplan Contest

The Contest “My Dream Trip with Aeroplan» (hereinafter the “Contest“) is presented by Milesopedia (the “Organizer“) in partnership with Aeroplan (the “Partner»).

  1. OBJECTIVE OF THE CONTEST
    1. The Contest’s primary objective is to engage and involve Aeroplan members by encouraging them to explore and redeem their points for travel. By inviting Participants to submit trip ideas using Aeroplan points, the Contest aims to highlight the flexibility and value of the Aeroplan program while encouraging members to consider new ways of using their points.
  2. PRIZES
    Three (3) Grand Prizes are to be won, consisting of:

    1. A drawing of 25,000 Aeroplan points open to all eligible Participants;
    2. A Prize of 75,000 Aeroplan points will be awarded to the Eligible Participant who submits the most original Trip in North America to use Aeroplan points and;
    3. A Prize of 100,000 Aeroplan points will be awarded to the Eligible Participant who submits the most original Trip outside of North America to use Aeroplan points.
  3. CONTEST PERIOD
    1. The Contest begins on April 1, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. ET and ends on April 30, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET (hereinafter the “Period“). Winner(s) will be announced on May 31, 2024, on social networks, on the milesopedia.com website, and in the Organizer’s June 2, 2024 newsletter.
  4. ELIGIBILITY
    1. The Contest is open to all residents of Canada who have reached the legal age of majority in their province or territory of residence before the Contest Period and who are active members of the Aeroplan loyalty program (the “Eligible Participant »). 
      1. If the Participant is not an Aeroplan member, he or she may visit the Aeroplan website (aircanada.com/aeroplan) to create an Aeroplan account for free before April 30, 2024.
    2. Employees, representatives or agents of Milesopedia, Air Canada, Aeroplan, its respective subsidiaries and affiliated entities, its media partners and advertising and promotional agencies, as well as immediate family members (parents, children, siblings and spouse, regardless of where they are domiciled) of any of those mentioned above and the people with whom they are domiciled, are not eligible to enter the Contest (the “Ineligible Participants»).
    3. By entering the Contest, each eligible Participant acknowledges and agrees that it is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with ®Aeroplan, its parent company ®Air Canada, and each of their respective subsidiaries and affiliates, and that the Contest Organizer is fully responsible for its conduct and administration, including the selection of Winner(s) and the distribution of prizes.
    4. This Contest is in no way sponsored, associated with, endorsed or administered by Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp), TikTok or LinkedIn (each a “Social Platform“). By participating in this Contest, each Participant:
      1. Fully releases each of the Social Platforms from any liability.
      2. Acknowledges providing information to the Organizer and the Partner and not to the Social Platforms.
      3. Will address any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Contest to the Contest Organizer and the relevant Social Platform.
  5. PARTICIPATION MANAGEMENT TOOL
    1. One-stop portal: Although several communication tools are used for the Contest, Participants are redirected to a single location to register.
    2. No purchase is required: To enter, Eligible Participant must follow the instructions published on the Organizer’s social networks and/or website, which will redirect them to the participation Form (the “Form»).
    3. Inscription: To be eligible, Eligible Participant must fully complete the Form available at this address, as detailed in Article 6. The Form will be accessible throughout the Period at https://milesopedia.com/en/news/win-points-contest-aeroplan/. The information provided must be correct and reliable.
  6. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
    Participation in the Contest is done in two (2) stages.

    1. To win 25,000 Aeroplan points: Anyone who correctly completes the Form will be awarded the chance to win the (1) Prize of 25,000 Aeroplan points.
      1. To participate in this portion of the Contest, Eligible Participants must provide their first and last name, email address and postal code during the Contest Period.
      2. Maximum of one (1) entry per person in this part of the Contest (« Eligible Entry ”) during the period. Please note that duplicate entries will be removed from the list of Eligible Entries.
      3. The Eligible Entries will also be included  for the component described in the Article 6.2.
    2. To win up to 175,000 Aeroplan points: Any Participant can submit several Eligible Entries during the Contest Period.
      1. To participate in this part of the Contest, in addition to providing their last name, first name, email address and postal code in the Form during the Period, Eligible Participants must describe their dream trip (the «Trip ») made possible through redeeming Aeroplan points.
      2. Any Participant can submit several times his Trip Project (“Trip Project“) by completing the Form accessible at the URL mentioned above in article 5.3. 
      3. By entering the Contest, each Eligible Participant agrees to comply with the Content Restrictions as defined below.
      4. An Eligible Participant who has submitted itineraries in both segments (North America and non-North America) is eligible to receive the Prize of 75,000 and/or 100,000 Aeroplan points.
  7. CONTENT RESTRICTIONS
      1. The Contest Organizer may, in its sole discretion, disqualify an Participant from the Contest if it believes that the Entry does not comply with any or all of the following restrictions (collectively, the “Content Restrictions“) concerning Trip Project:
        1. It must be the original creation of the Eligible Participant and must not contain illegal, copied, defamatory, hateful or disparaging material of the Organizer, the Partner or any other person or party.
        2. It must conform to the image and values ​​of the Contest Organizer and the Partner, and comply with and satisfy the objective of the Contest.
        3. The Eligible Participant must share a Trip Project including Airfares(s) and/or Hotel(s) and/or Car Rental(s) and/or Vacation Package(s), in which he/she details the redeeming of their Aeroplan points (covering the cost of the Trip in part or in whole).
        4. Any already booked, completed or planned Trip may be submitted to the Organizer by the Eligible Participant.
        5. No proof of reservation is required for the Trip submitted to the Organizer.
  8. COMPLIANCE WITH REGULATIONS
    1. To be considered an Eligible Entry, any entry must:
      1. Be submitted in accordance with these Rules during the applicable Contest Period;
      2. Include all of the above required elements corresponding to the component in which the person wishes to participate; And,
      3. Comply with these Contest Rules and the general conditions listed below for each Prize.
    2. By entering the Contest, the Participant confirms that he/she has read these Contest Rules and that he agrees to comply with and be legally bound by them.
  9. SELECTION OF WINNER(S)
    The Selection of Winner(s) in the Contest is divided into two (2) parts.

    1. One (1) Prize for 25,000 Aeroplan points: 
      1. A random draw will be made from all Eligible Entries.
    2. One (1) Prize of 75,000 and (1) Prize for 100,000 Aeroplan points: 
      1. Between May 1 and 10, 2024, a committee of experts from the Organizer will analyze all Trip Projects submitted by Eligible Participants and will establish a pre-selection of twelve (12) Trips that it will recommend to the Partner: six (6) in North America and six (6) outside North America.
      2. Between May 13 and 17, 2024, a committee of the Partner’s experts will analyze the Organizer’s recommendations and select three (3) Trip Projects for each segment, i.e., for destinations in North America and outside North America.
      3. Between May 19, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. ET and May 26, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET, the six (6) Trip Projects selected by the expert committees will be submitted to a popular vote by all Participants and readers through the Organizer’s website and social platforms to determine the two winning projects.
  10. CONTACT OF WINNER(S) 
    1. Winner(s) will be contacted by email.
    2. To be declared a winner, the contacted Participant must respond to communications from the Organizer within 48 hours, respecting the deadline for announcing the results of the Contest.
    3. Winner(s) is/are subject to verification, including verification of age and residency.
    4. The announcement of the Winning projects will be made on May 31, 2024.
  11. DISQUALIFICATION
    1. Failing to respect each of the conditions set out in Articles 9 and 10, the selected Participant will be disqualified and will not be able to receive a Prize.
    2. In this case, the Organizer reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to proceed as follows to select a replacement winner:
      1. Prize for 25,000 Aeroplan points: Carry out another random draw from among all Eligible Entries.
      2. Prize of 75,000 or 100,000 Aeroplan points: The prize will be awarded to the Project’s next winner with the most votes in the corresponding segment.
  12. CLAIMING OF PRIZE(S)
    1. Ineligibility
      1. If the winner is ineligible, does not respond within 48 hours after notification, or refuses the Prize, the Organizer will select another winner according to the rules presented in Article 11.2.
    2. Acceptance of Prizes
      1. All Prizes must be accepted as described in these rules and cannot be returned, transferred to another person or substituted for another Prize, nor exchanged in whole or in part for money.
      2. AE Prizes must be accepted as awarded. Aeroplan points have no cash value but are redeemable under the Aeroplan program for flights and other rewards. The retail value of rewards obtained using Aeroplan points will vary depending on a range of factors including the type of reward issued, see details. Aeroplan points may be redeemed only in accordance with the General Terms & Conditions of the Aeroplan program.       3. The Partner and the Organizer are not responsible for any fees, taxes, or other expenses related to the use of the Prize, which are the responsibility of the Winner(s).
    3. Prize Substitution 
      1. The Organizer reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, and for any reason whatsoever, to replace a Prize or part thereof with a Prize of equivalent or greater value, including in particular the value of the Prize in silver.
  13. TAKING POSSESSION OF THE PRIZE(S)
    1. Upon receiving the selected Participant’s contact details, the Organizer will email the winning person(s) to inform her/them of the conditions for taking possession of their Prize.
    2. The Partner undertakes to credit the Prize to the Winner(s)’s Aeroplan account within ten days following the announcement of the Winner(s). 
    3. Reservation of the Prize will be confirmed within ten days once the Winner(s) has/have fulfilled the requirements described herein.
  14. PUBLICITY
    1. By entering this Contest, the Eligible Participant agrees to receive emails regarding the Contest from the Organizer. 
    2. Winner(s) then authorizes the Organizer, the Partner, and their respective advertising and promotional agencies to broadcast, publish, and otherwise use his or her name, photograph, image, or statement relating to the Contest or any Prize, city, and (or) voice for advertising purposes, and this without any form of remuneration.
  15. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
    1. ®Aeroplan is a registered trademark of Aeroplan Inc. and ®Air Canada and the Air Canada maple leaf logo are registered trademarks of Air Canada. These trademarks are used by the Contest Organizer under licensed authorization.
  16. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY
    1. Milesopedia is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, misdirected entries or technical failures.
    2. By entering the Contest, each eligible participant agrees to release and to hold harmless Aeroplan, Air Canada, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and each of their officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, subcontractors, and affiliates from and against any liability for any claim or action, loss, fine or legal expense arising, directly or indirectly, from the Contest and its administration, the Contest Prizes and related activities.
  17. RIGHTS
    1. The Organizer reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify the Contest, or any part thereof, in the event that fraudulent activity, technical failure, human error or any other factor compromises the integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, as determined by the Organizer in its sole discretion.
      1. In such an event, the Organizer may choose, at its sole discretion, to conduct a random draw from among all eligible entries received up to the termination date for one or all of the Prizes offered at this Contest.
    2. The Organizer reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any person who attempts to unduly influence the entry process or the conduct of the Contest or who fails to comply with the Official Rules of the latter or any other activity, or who acts in an unfair or disruptive manner.
      1. Any attempt by any person to unduly influence the smooth running of the Contest constitutes an offense under the Criminal and Civil Codes.
      2. The Organizer reserves the right to pursue any person who attempts to unduly influence the smooth running of the Contest to the extent permitted by law in order to obtain compensation.
    3. Failure to enforce any provision of these Official Rules by Sponsor does not constitute waiver of such provision by Sponsor.
  18. LAW AND JURISDICTION
    1. The Participants agree that these Rules are governed by the laws of the province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada, which apply there. Where applicable, the Participants irrevocably submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of the province of Quebec sitting in the district of Montreal for any dispute arising from this Agreement, or its interpretation.
  19. CONFIDENTIALITY
    1. By participating in this Contest, each Eligible Participant consents to the collection, use and disclosure of his or her personal information by the Organizer for the purposes of running the Contest or for any other purpose to which he or she consents. Once submitted, Entries become the exclusive property of the Organizer and will not be returned. Personal information will be used to verify the eligibility of Participants to the Contest and to award the Prizes.
    2. Personal information may be used and communicated to third parties whose services the Organizer retains for storage purposes, market research, Contest management, or other similar services, subject to laws applicable relating to the protection of personal information and the Organizer’s internal policy to this effect. Both companies may use this information (i) for the proper administration and execution of the Contest; and (ii) to send newsletters to Participants relating to events, products and services of both companies. To unsubscribe from commercial mailing lists, use the unsubscribe link in any commercial electronic message you receive.
  20. NAME OF WINNER(S)
    1. As a measure of our approach’s transparency, the Winner(s) list will be published on the Events and Contests page of the Organizer’s website: https://milesopedia.com/en/events-contest/
    2. Anyone wishing to know the names of the Winner(s) can also email concours@milesopedia.com within 30 days of the draw.
