Ticket sales for this extended network start today, for flights from June 13, 2024, with new options being introduced progressively.
This means that Air Transat now offers a wider selection of flights across Canada and to selected U.S. cities via Porter’s service, while Porter can now connect its passengers to Europe via Transat-operated non-stop flights from Toronto Pearson (YYZ), Montreal-Trudeau (YUL) and Quebec (YQB), as well as connecting flights to Europe from anywhere in Canada.
“Our alliance enhances the travel experience we offer by seamlessly integrating our services across North and Latin America, as well as Europe and North Africa. By leveraging the strengths of our highly complementary networks, we are committed to offering Canadians more choice, with the high-quality service for which we are renowned,” says Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat.
This commercial collaboration is a continuation of the code-share agreement between the two companies, in force since October 2022. Transat indicated that this agreement has increased traffic by more than 60,000 people in 2023.
Strategically, the aim of this collaboration is to accelerate the expansion of both airlines in their respective markets:
Annick Guérard, President and CEO of Transat, described the agreement as “historic”.
By uniting their networks, the Alliance will expand connections between Europe, North, Central and South America, Mexico, the Caribbean and North Africa. Together, the two airlines will serve over 80 destinations.
“At full potential, we expect between 15% and 18% of our customers to connect with a Porter flight,” said Air Transat.
In concrete terms, the Porter andAir Transat codeshare means that travellers can enjoy flights from Montreal, Quebec and Toronto to numerous destinations, with simpler check-in and no need to worry about baggage transfers.

VIPorter points can be earned on code-share flights with Air Transat (based on the value of the base fare on the full itinerary), provided these flights have been booked directly on the Porter site or via their call center.
On the Transat side, a loyalty program is due to be launched in 2025, according to La Presse.
With new routes added by Porter in recent months, enhancements to the VIPorter program in early 2023, and status equivalency offers launched to Aeroplan and WestJet Rewards members later this year, it will be interesting to follow the evolution of this alliance.
