After two night flights with Turkish Airlines from Montreal via Istanbul we finally arrived at our destination hotel, the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, in Singapore.
We take an Uber from the airport after buying a SIM card from a counter in the arrival hall. We arrive at the hotel half an hour later. The hotel is very new as it opened one month prior, in December 2016. It is integrated in a new shopping center in front of the famous Raffles hotel. It also gives direct access to the metro.
For a hotel of a large chain, it must be said that its design is particularly well done. We are taken care of quickly. Having a Gold status with Marriott thanks to the American Express Platinum card, the agent reminds us of our advantages during our stay: free breakfast, access to the executive lounge, late check-out.
We have a standard room with a relatively small size but still in a corner. The facilities are quite expected for a modern hotel.
The lounge is located on the second floor, which is one of the positive points of this hotel: the offer of food at breakfast and during the aperitif time is superb. Knowing that alcohol is very expensive in Singapore, it is also a good place to have an early evening drink before going to the city.
A terrace is located on the 18th floor with a small but pleasant swimming pool. There are also tables with sofas to enjoy the view of downtown. A gym is available on the same floor.
The JW Marriott Singapore South Beach is certainly a new hotel so we have a positive eye but it is well located in the city, its design is interesting and the services offered are top-notch. This stay was paid for with Marriott Bonvoy points.
