To the point Here is my review of the Calgary Marriott Airport Terminal Hotel. Having a late arrival in Calgary before taking my flight the next day to Frankfurt, I opted for this hotel located directly in the airport.

Location of the Marriott Hotel

The Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel entrance is near the baggage claim area on the International/USA arrivals level (elevator leading directly to the lobby). However, the main entrance is opposite gate 13 at the international departure level.

Booking

For my reservation at the Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal, I chose to pay in cash with my HSBC World EliteMD Mastercard® (6 points per dollar on travel) to take advantage of a promotion offered by Marriott Bonvoy only on nights paid in cash. Also, note that it is recommended to use the Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card to pay for Marriott hotels. Still, I aim to earn HSBC points to experience first class on Singapore Airlines like Jean-Maximilien.

The night was $287 for a cancelable and refundable rate until the day before my arrival. However, I have found that the cost in points is usually between 20,000 and 30,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, depending on the dates. The use of points seems to be interesting for this hotel, but it is always recommended to compare the cash cost and the value of the points with Milesopedia tool.

Check-in

Before I arrived, I checked into the Marriott Bonvoy app and automatically got an upgrade to a slightly larger room with an airport view.

A few hours before my arrival, I tried via chat to get a suite upgrade and was reminded that upgrades are “subject to availability at time of check-in”.

Upon arrival at the front desk, I was informed that I had been upgraded to a one-bedroom 2-piece suite and that my late-checkout request was confirmed. I was able to choose my welcome gift: 1,000 points or a $10 credit on food and drinks.

Having arrived late in the evening, I chose the $10 credit for dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Reception

The lobby of the Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel is very large, with plenty of space for resting and working.

There is a market between the YAKIMA Social Kitchen + Bar and the reception. The market offers hot and cold drinks, pastries and snacks. A microwave is also available.

Bedroom

The room is huge, measuring 62 square meters and can accommodate up to 4 people.

Before arriving in the living room, there is a toilet in the hallway of the entrance.

The living room has a sofa bed and a desk area. The desk and chair offer perfect comfort for telecommuting. A refrigerator is located under the desk.

A sliding door separates the living room area and the master bedroom. The air conditioning can be adjusted separately between the bedroom and the living room.

The access to the bathroom is through the bedroom. ThisWorks brand of toiletries is typically found in all hotels under the Marriott banner.

The room is equipped with a large TV, a clock radio with Bluetooth connection to connect a phone, a safe, an ironing board and an iron.

The M Club Lounge

The lounge is on the seventh floor and available to Club Rooms and Marriott Bonvoy Platinum and above members.

Breakfast is served as a buffet between 6 am, and 11 am. Canapés are offered from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by desserts from 7 to 10 p.m. Bar service (extra charge) is available from 4:30 pm to 10 pm.

Hotel services

YAKIMA Social Kitchen + Bar serves local specialties, pasta, pizzas, burgers, craft beers and cocktails. There is something for everyone. The restaurant is open from 11 am to 11 pm. The prices of the dishes are a bit high, but the cuisine is of good quality. It costs about $18 for a Caesar salad, $25 for a pizza and $23 for a hamburger.

Breakfast is served between 7 am, and 11 am.

The OraOxygen Spa is located in front of the pool entrance. It is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, Saturday to 5 p.m. and Sunday by appointment. You can find manicure, pedicure and massage services. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance. Reservations can be made directly on the OraOxygen Wellness & Spa website before your arrival.

The heated swimming pool and jacuzzi are open from 6 am to 11 pm.

The gym is open 24 hours a day and offers a wide selection of weight and cardio equipment and a beautiful view of the planes.

My general impression of the hotel

This Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel is conveniently located in the terminal for a stopover or early morning departure. It will perfectly suit the needs of a family or a business traveller.

I would definitely go back the next time I’m in Calgary.
