IHG One Rewards

IHG has a wide variety of hotels in different categories. Its best-known hotel brand is Holiday Inn.

They target the mid-range budgets, but also have interesting high-end hotels with Crowne Plaza andInterContinental.

Since July 2023, the Iberostar brand of all-inclusive hotels has been part of the IHG One Rewards program. It is now possible to earn IHG points by staying at these hotels. Soon it will also be possible to redeem IHG points to stay there.

In Canada, unlike the Marriott Bonvoy hotel loyalty program, there is no credit card for direct accumulation of IHG points.

You can earn points by staying nights at IHG Group hotels. There are two categories of points: base points and bonus points.

• You can earn 10 IHG Base Points for every eligible US dollar spent on your room at most IHG hotels
• You can earn 5 IHG Base Points for every eligible U.S. dollar spent on your room at Staybridge or Candlewood Suites hotels.

If you hold elite status with the IHG One Rewards loyalty program, you will be eligible for:

• accelerated accumulation of base points: 40% (Gold Elite status), 60% (Platinum Elite status) and 100% (Diamond status)

Finally, it is possible to purchase IHG points through the traditional points purchase method, where IHG One Rewards regularly runs promotions.

There are no transfers from external loyalty programs (such as American Express Membership Rewards, BMO or RBC points, etc.).

1,000 IHG One Rewards points are worth $7.

IHG One Rewards points expire after 12 months of inactivity on the account.

Many benefits are available for members who have reached a certain IHG Rewards status.

• Club: the basic level that allows you to access “Your Rate”, the members-only rate, and to have free WiFi access.
• Silver Elite (10-night stay at IHG hotels)

• Diamond Elite (70 nights or 120,000 points)
