To the point Here is my review of the Best Western Premier Hotel Aristocrate in Quebec City, where I stayed for 4 nights. You can book it with Best Western Rewards.

An accessible hotel chain

The Best Western Premier Hotel Aristocrate is part of the Best Western hotel chain, which is well known to our members. It has approximately 4,200 locations around the world and offers a loyalty program, Best Western Rewards, in which many members of the milesopedia community participate.

An article has already been written about our best hotel finds from this chain. And a video clip was made by Jean-Maximilien about the program:

Let’s face it: earning 20,000 points on the first purchase after applying for the Best Western Rewards® Mastercard – with no annual fee – is pretty sweet.

The Best Western Premier Hotel Aristocrate in Quebec City

The PREMIER certification represents the top of the line of the Best Western chain, and the Best Western Premier Hotel Aristocrate is proud to say that it is #1 in customer satisfaction.

I came to meet a member of the community, Marie-Pascale, who lives not far from the hotel, in Cap-Rouge.

Easily accessible, near the Quebec and Pierre-Laporte bridges and 10 minutes from Old Quebec, the Best Western Premier Hotel Aristocrate is popular with many milesopedians. I even ran into André, our Turkey lover, at breakfast!

Checking-In

After I parked for free, the check-in process went quickly. I was the only one in the lobby of the Aristocrate Hotel at the time.

However, the next day, several cars kept mine company. The hotel was filling up.

After washing my hands with disinfectant, the usual formalities, and getting the explanations regarding breakfast, and those specific to COVID, I went to my room.

I know we take it for granted but I really appreciated the air conditioning which worked perfectly in this hot weather.

The room

At the Hotel Aristocrate, I got a room with two double beds on the ground floor, without a balcony. Despite the highways nearby I was not bothered by the traffic. The bedding and mattresses are obviously of very good quality.

A comfortable chair and a work desk allowed me to continue to wander around our Facebook group from time to time and put my two cents in. There was also a 42-inch flat screen TV.

The rooms all have safes and small fridges. A glass of chilled white wine is always a pleasure in the evening.

A coffee machine with coffee and tea is available as well as high speed internet, also free.

The bathroom with shower only, at least in my room, has a rain shower head. There were sufficient toiletries and towels and I was informed that I could ask for more if needed.

In COVID time, no one comes to do the rooms and replace the equipment.

Common areas

The reception is small and of course glassed in. Pperations are designed to minimize touching. For example, magnetic cards for the rooms are put back in a container at the end of the stay. The staff is friendly, which is to be expected from good customer service.

The lobby is airy, but the furniture has obviously had some experience. A bit vintage.

The convenience store offers treats and beverages in vending machines. A small freezer allows the purchase of ice cream.

The gym was closed during our visit but…

The pool was open. Clean and heated, the pool can only accommodate ten customers at a time, but I only saw four. You must book your time slot to use the pool in blocks of 45 minutes at the reception, and you are allowed to take more than one block. At the same time you book your chair on the sun or shade side. Towels are given to you at the entrance. When you leave, the chair is disinfected.

Honestly, a big plus with the prevailing heat.

Breakfast at the restaurant La Fenouillère

While many Best Western hotels are in the habit of offering free breakfast, and some have adapted by giving away or selling “box lunches” for $5 during this time of COVID-19, it was a different story for Hotel Aristocrate.

First, know that:

  • the restaurant “La Fenouillère”, rated 4 diamonds, is not part of the hotel but it depends on its clientele for 90% of its breakfasts
  • it is open with a reduced menu and capacity
  • hotel guests receive a 15% discount. The adult menu is $12.95 and $5 for children 10 and under. Succulent.

Bottom Line

I stayed four nights at the Best Western Premier Hotel Aristocrate in Quebec City at the beginning of July 2020, two of which were paid with 36,000 points (20,000 and 16,000). For the remaining two nights, I was able to take advantage of reduced prices thanks to promotions.

A stay that totals $190, excluding 4 breakfasts at the restaurant La Fenouillère, adjacent to the hotel and considered one of the best restaurants in Quebec City.

The swimming pool, free parking and high-speed WIFI are added values to the hotel’s offer, whose loyalty program, we agree here, is well worth the effort.

However, I know that the prices have gone up a bit since then: 20,000 points per night or $133.

Still good. I recommend it.
