To the point The W Bangkok Hotel is an upscale Bangkok property you can book with your Marriott Bonvoy points.

W Bangkok - Booking

During my trip to Bangkok, my goal was to visit several Marriott Bonvoy hotels of different categories to help you choose the best one for your needs:

Please note that we already visited The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok for Milesopedia.

The W Bangkok Hotel is the third in the series. For your information, the W Bangkok hotel has been open since 2012.

When I stayed at the W Bangkok hotel, it was almost $400 a night or 30,000 points. So it was much better to use Marriott Bonvoy points than to pay that price.

W Bangkok - Location

W Bangkok‘s convenient location next to the Chong Nonsi Skytrain Station provides easy access to the city. Several attractions are within walking distance, including Lumphini Park, Taksin Pier and a plethora of bars, restaurants, stores and massage centers.

Although it is easy to hail a taxi on Sathorn, the heavy traffic can extend the travel time.

W Bangkok - Check-in

The night before, I was at the Le Meridien Bangkok hotel. After about 15 minutes in a taxi, I arrived at the W Bangkok. I was able to check in via the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app. And I was able to negotiate via chat an upgrade to a Spectacular room. The suites were all occupied for an event.

The lobby of the W Bangkok Hotel is large (with a staircase connecting it to the restaurant), and electronic music is present throughout the day.

W Bangkok - Spectacular Room

The common areas of the W Bangkok Hotel are rather dark, and the damaged walls are starting to betray the age of the hotel.

The W Bangkok Hotel sports a distinctive Muay Thai theme that carries over to the room, with artwork on the walls and gold gloves artistically displayed on the bed.

The room is equipped with a tablet that controls the room’s functions and allows the use of room service. Bottled water and a nightly turndown service are also available.

However, I didn’t really find any use for the coffee table and chair set up right in front of the bed. A bed bench would have been more relevant to this space, for example.

Staying at the W Bangkok Hotel, you can enjoy views of the city (you can see the hotel’s pool below).

When I stayed at the W Bangkok Hotel, promotions were available throughout February.

The bathroom has a gray tile floor and black subway tile walls and exudes an elegant and modern ambiance. You can enjoy a spacious and well-lit vanity mirror, as well as a separate shower and bath.

To enhance the bathing experience, Bliss products, which are standard equipment at all W Hotels, are provided.

Here are all the details of this bathroom in a Spectacular room. Since the bathroom is entirely open to the bedroom, it is particularly suitable for couples. A little less to friends travelling together!

W Bangkok - Breakfast

I must admit that the W Bangkok exceeded my expectations when it came to breakfast! The hotel offers a particularly impressive breakfast buffet, a great way to start the day.

You can have breakfast inside (there is no lack of space!).

Or outside (you won’t be too exposed to traffic noise):

The breakfast included a wide range of types of cuisine, including Chinese, Thai, Japanese and many others, making it easy to find your choice!

W Bangkok - Pool

The outdoor pool at W Bangkok is charming. I liked the style of this one, especially since it offers a beautiful view of the city (and from it, you can admire a beautiful sunset).

Regularly, the staff of the W Bangkok Hotel comes by to give out free ice cream and water bottles. You can also ask for sunscreen if – like me – you forgot yours!

W Bangkok - Gym

Located on the same level as the pool, the W Bangkok‘s gym has several fitness machines.

The natural light is pleasant, and you can do your workout while watching the bustling activity of Bangkok.

W Bangkok - Bar

The bar is the signature of the W hotel brand. And the W Bangkok is no exception!

In the evening, a DJ is present to play electronic music.

I took advantage of the vouchers offered by the reception to experience two cocktails at the bar.

W Bangkok - Around the hotel

During my stay at the W Bangkok hotel, I took the opportunity to discover the city. I chose to do this by booking a driver with a scooter (via the Grab app). Probably the best way to get around the city quickly while avoiding traffic (especially if you travel alone like me).

However, not all of them offer a helmet…

W Bangkok - My general impression

The W Bangkok is an upscale hotel; however, some of its features are beginning to betray its age (especially in the common areas and some of the room amenities). However, the quality of the breakfast and the variety of dishes offered make it a solid choice for Elite members.

Finally, while I love the vibe of the W brand hotels, I preferred my stay at Le Meridien Bangkok, which is at a similar rate level.
