WestJet and TELUS Officially Launch Their Loyalty Partnership

page couverture
To the point WestJet Rewards and TELUS Rewards launch a partnership that allows members to link their accounts to earn, transfer, and redeem points between the two programs.

WestJet’s loyalty program continues to evolve. Following the launch of its revised and improved version earlier this year, a new strategic partnership is officially launched: WestJet Rewards and TELUS Rewards are now linked, allowing members to combine their benefits to maximize their rewards.

Members can now link their WestJet Rewards account to their TELUS Rewards account to earn, transfer, and redeem points between the two programs. As a bonus, those who link their accounts automatically receive WestJet seat selection vouchers and TELUS roaming passes, to travel more comfortably and stay connected worldwide.

What Can You Do with this Partnership?

  • Earn WestJet points by paying for your TELUS services (Internet, phone, TV, mobility).
  • Redeem WestJet points to pay for your TELUS services or shop in the TELUS Rewards catalog.
  • Convert TELUS points to WestJet points to book flights, vacation packages, or extras in the WestJet eStore.

Linking your accounts is quick and easy, taking just a few minutes depending on how fast you receive your 2FA security codes.

You can link your accounts directly:

Steps on the TELUS website:

  1. Log in to your TELUS Rewards account.
  2. Select the linking option with WestJet Rewards.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the connection.

Earning WestJet Points on Your TELUS Services

Once accounts are linked, you have two options:

  1. Continue to earn TELUS points, then convert them later;
  2. Or directly earn WestJet points on your TELUS bill.

The current conversion rate is 1 TELUS Rewards point = 0.067 WestJet point.

Note: only whole WestJet points are deposited. Fractions remain in your TELUS account.

Transferring TELUS Points to WestJet Rewards

If you prefer to transfer your points afterwards, that’s also possible. The TELUS dashboard allows you to convert points in just a few clicks.

  • Conversion rate: 10,000 TELUS points = 670 WestJet points
  • Minimum transfer: 1,000 TELUS points

This gives you the flexibility to plan your trips based on your points balance.

Redeem WestJet Points for TELUS Services

You can also use your WestJet points to pay for part or all of your TELUS bill.

Redemption value: 0.8¢ per WestJet point

Although this value is lower than what you get when redeeming for flights or extras (about 1 cent per point), it can be useful if you want to reduce your monthly bills.

To redeem your points:

  1. Log in to your WestJet Rewards account.
  2. Select the TELUS option from the rewards choices.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to apply your points to your bill.

Bottom Line

This new collaboration between WestJet and TELUS is part of a broader strategy aimed at offering more flexibility to Canadian travellers and consumers. This partnership also marks one of the first major steps announced during the launch of the new version of the WestJet Rewards program, alongside future collaborations with SkipTheDishes and Canadian Tire (Triangle program).

By linking your accounts, you can turn your everyday spending into opportunities to save on your flights or TELUS services. A simple and smart way to make every dollar spent work for you.

Additionally, holders of the RBC WestJet World Elite Mastercard can get even more value from their purchases. By using this card, you earn up to 2 WestJet points per dollar spent on WestJet flights and WestJet Vacations packages, as well as 1.5 points on everyday purchases, while enjoying exclusive benefits.

Tip to maximize your rewards: you can also earn points with the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card, then transfer them to the WestJet Rewards program for even more flexibility.
