After flying from Montreal to Kuala Lumpur on a business award ticket with Air Canada and Singapore Airlines (which cost 87,500 Aeroplan points per person), our family of 4 spent 2 nights at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur. The hotel reopened in October 2023 after undergoing major renovations.
This booking was my best redemption using Marriott Bonvoy points. We booked a Family Suite with Club lounge access for 24,000 points and 410.40 MYR (~120 CAD). The cash rate for this room was 876 CAD per night. Thus, in this case, each Marriott Bonvoy point is worth 6.8¢, far exceeding the average value of 0.9¢ per point.
I made this reservation in June 2023, 11 months prior to our stay. After each hotel booking, I regularly check for any price drops or changes in points required. However, I have since noticed that the Family Suite is no longer available for reservation using points.

It is also easily accessible via public transit, being a 4-minute walk from Bukit Nanas Monorail station and a 6-minute walk from Dang Wangi LRT station. Bukit Bintang, a lively district renowned for its shopping, entertainment, and dining options, is also only two stations away.

The Family Suite measures 1237 sq ft and features two bedrooms, each with its ensuite bathroom, as well as a spacious living area and dining area. The rooms were clean, and the bathtub was big and cozy. From the windows, we enjoyed views of the KL Tower.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a delightful assortment of fruits and nuts, accompanied by a thoughtful handwritten message written on the coffee table. Additionally, there were cookies, chocolates, brownies, and balloons in the kids’ bedroom.
I was particularly impressed by how family-friendly the suite is. First, the kids’ bedroom is fully baby-proofed. Additionally, there were also toys and books to keep the children entertained. Children’s toothbrushes, toothpaste, plastic cups, baby shampoo, baby lotion are also provided.
During our stay, the housekeeping service was excellent. We received daily housekeeping and turndown service, and they ensured we always had plenty of bottled water.
We could enjoy the buffet breakfast either in the lounge or at the Evolution Restaurant on the first floor. Both times, we chose to dine in the restaurant.
The breakfast offered a wide variety of international and Asian dishes, as well as plenty of fresh fruits. There was also a dedicated section for children. The service was prompt and attentive; we did not have to wait.
Located on the 25th floor, the lounge offers complimentary breakfast, all-day drinks evening cocktails and buffet.
The lounge also offers a meeting room and office space.
Children are welcome in the lounge during the day but are not permitted during the evening cocktail hours from 6-9pm. Instead, guests with children are invited to enjoy a buffet dinner in the dedicated kids’ section of the Evolution Restaurant during that time. The buffet includes a decent selection of food and drinks, including alcoholic beverages. This area is equipped with quiet toys, puzzles, and crayons to entertain the children.
The pool area is expansive, featuring a main pool with water slides, a wading pool, and a splash pad. It was a lot of fun!
During our stay in May 2024, the Kids’ Club and the gym were still under renovation, so hotel guest rooms were used in the meantime.
The staff in the Kids’ Club were attentive, and my kids had a good time playing with them.
The Renaissance Kuala Lumpur is a solid 5-star hotel, centrally located with new and spacious rooms, attentive service, an impressive pool featuring water slides, and family-friendly amenities and facilities. I was pleasantly surprised by how much value I was able to get from my Marriott Bonvoy points. It was a real bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to families visiting Kuala Lumpur.
