Air Canada continues the rollout of its premium lounge concept with the opening of a new Air Canada Cafe at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). This is the company’s fourth Cafe, after those in Toronto Pearson, Billy Bishop, and Montreal-Trudeau.
Located in the domestic terminal, between gates C46 and C47, the Cafe offers travellers a modern and welcoming space to eat, work, or relax before their flight.
Increasingly popular with frequent travellers, airport lounges offer a quiet and comfortable refuge away from the hustle and bustle of the terminals. Air Canada is expanding these types of spaces to allow its customers to enjoy a moment of relaxation or productivity before their flight, in a stylish and practical setting.
Designed by Vancouver-based firm Smart Design, the Air Canada Cafe spans 138 m² (2,142 sq ft) and can accommodate up to 52 guests.
Its architecture evokes aeronautical geometry, with a ceiling inspired by an aircraft fuselage and organic curves reminiscent of British Columbia’s natural landscape. The light fixtures by A-N-D Light, inspired by river rocks, add a warm and soothing touch.
The space also highlights local creativity with a series of four original works by Vancouver artist Scott Sueme, who blends abstraction, symbolism, and references to nature.
