Do you have a TD Aeroplan credit card such as:

If so, you could be eligible to test the new Aeroplan Pay with Points option until August 15, 2024!

This option allows you to exchange Aeroplan points for credits that reimburse the cost of purchases charged to your credit card account. This is only eligible for the following purchases, valued between $25 and $250:

Grocery ;
Entertainment ;
Restaurant ;
and Pharmacy.

You can register for this pilot project on this special page. Then, if the trial is successful, Aeroplan will offer it to all cardholders.

How the Aeroplan Pay with Points pilot project works

First of all, registration is mandatory on this page.

You will then receive a message confirming that your card has been linked to the promotion.

The home page asks for your authorization to notify you when an eligible transaction is available for the Aeroplan Pay with Points option.

You will also receive a text message to confirm your subscription to notifications.

Please note that it is very important to redeem your Aeroplan points quickly! You only have 24 hours to do so, from the time the text message is sent.

After making a qualifying purchase, you’ll receive a text message on your phone.

You must accept the Exchange Offers by replying to this text message or by going to www.aeroplanpaywithpoints.ca/management to receive statement credit on your credit card account. This may take up to 30 days to appear on your account.

Once the offer has been accepted, the redemption of your Aeroplan points is final and cannot be cancelled. If you return a purchase, you will keep the statement credit.

Here’s an example of how to redeem points on a restaurant purchase.

4,700 Aeroplan points are required to credit and reimburse a $42.88 restaurant meal.

By our evaluation, an Aeroplan point is worth 2 cents. Therefore, this number of points has a value of $94.

Any purchase above $94 is very advantageous, and anything below that is disadvantageous.

So using 4,700 Aeroplan points would be a loss on a $42.88 purchase. However, if you have Aeroplan points lying around or need a financial break, this may be right for you.

Bottom Line

Only purchases made by the primary cardholder are eligible for this offer. Those made by an additional user do not work for this option.

Unfortunately, no redemption ratio information is provided in the promotion, so you won’t know how many points it takes to get $1 in statement credit. The number of Aeroplan points required will only be revealed as a surprise when you receive the text message that gives you the opportunity.
