Air France to leave Orly Airport in 2026

To the point Air France will be leaving Orly airport in 2026, to consolidate its flights from Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport.

Air France to stop flying to Orly from 2026

Since 2019, passenger numbers on domestic flights from Orly (ORY) have fallen by 40% to 60%. This is mainly due to :

  • Increased use of videoconferencing meetings
  • Reduced business travel on domestic flights in France
  • France’s Energy Sobriety Plan (which calls for rail travel to be preferred to air travel for business trips of less than 4 hours)

This poses a major problem for Air France, since the vast majority of its flights at Orly airport are within France.

Since this is no longer profitable, Air France has announced that it will repatriate all its domestic and international flights from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), starting in summer 2026.

All that will be maintained at Orly will be :

  • Flights operated by Transavia (a low-cost airline owned by the Air France KLM Group) to Toulouse, Marseille and Nice
  • Air France’s Orly-Corsica route, which is a mandatory essential service under the public service delegation agreement (DSP).

The process of withdrawing Air France flights from Orly

So, from now until summer 2026, Air France will continue its flights as usual at Orly Airport. Air France retains its routes to Toulouse, Marseille and Nice, as well as its international flights.

Then, in summer 2026, Air France will reorganize these flights, so that they take off from Paris-Charles de Gaulle instead. At the same time, the airline would increase frequencies to :

  • Toulouse
  • Marseille
  • Nice
  • Pointe-à-Pitre
  • Fort-de-France
  • Saint-Denis (Reunion Island)

This will optimize Air France and Transavia resources and make them more efficient.

As for the 500 Air France employees based at Orly, they will be transferred to Paris-Charles de Gaulle in an equivalent position, which will be badly needed with these extra flights! This news is therefore subject to approval by the unions.
