How to Travel with WestJet Vacations

Sometimes you just need an easy and relaxing vacation, right?
A trip with minimal planning, no stress, and where someone takes care of everything for you.
All-inclusive vacations and vacations packages, like those offered by WestJet Vacations, are just the thing when you’re looking to put up your feet and relax for a bit.
In this guide, we’ll give you all the details about WestJet Vacations and their new addition WestJet Vacations Québec so that you can start planning your next adventure.

WestJet Vacations
WestJet Vacations offers vacation packages departing from Canadian airports serviced by WestJet Airlines.
Travellers based in or travelling from Quebec can book their trip with WestJet Vacations Québec, and travellers departing from the rest of Canada can book with WestJet Vacations.
WestJet Vacations Quebec is actually pretty new to the scene, having launched in May 2024. Prior to this, WestJet Vacations wasn’t available in the province of Quebec.
Thankfully, after WestJet’s acquisition of Sunwing Airlines and Sunwing Vacations back in 2023, WestJet Vacations Quebec was created as a new brand under the Sunwing Vacation Group’s umbrella.
Since 2025, WestJet Rewards has used WestJet points instead of WestJet dollars, at the same value: 100 WestJet points are worth $1 off the base price of a booking. And since September 10, 2026, eligible Sunwing Vacations packages also earn WestJet points, at the same rate as WestJet Vacations.
What type of vacation packages does WestJet Vacations offer?
For travellers based in or flying out of Quebec, WestJet Vacations Quebec exclusively offers all-inclusive vacation packages.
Comparatively, WestJet Vacations departing from the rest of Canada offers all-inclusive trips, plus additional pre-bundled packages.
These pre-bundled vacations always include your flight and hotel, and depending on the destination and type of the package, they may also include breakfast, optional meal/drink plans, activities, and more.
Since not all hotels and resorts are equipped to offer all-inclusive options, these pre-bundled packages give you a wider selection of accommodations to choose from.
WestJet Vacation packages compete with other options like Air Canada Vacations, which also offers all-inclusive and pre-bundled vacation packages.

All-inclusive vs. pre-bundled vacations
When booking a vacation package, it’s important to understand what you’re getting before you shell out your hard-earned money or points.
To make sure you get what you want out of your vacation, let’s look at two different styles of vacation packages: pre-bundled packages and all-inclusive vacations.
All-inclusive vacations packages typically come with the following:
- return flight
- hotel for the length of your stay
- food and drink (including some alcohol) during your stay
- some activities and entertainment
Keep in mind that the type, quantity, and quality of food and drink offered depends on the hotel/resort you’ve booked and the package you’ve chosen. At some hotels/resorts, you can upgrade your food/drink package to include additional fancy meal options, à-la-carte restaurant experiences, and high-end drink options.
Pre-bundled vacations are similar to all-inclusive packages except they usually only include:
- return flight
- hotel for the length of your stay
- some activities and entertainment
With pre-bundled vacations, you may get your breakfast included but often you’ll need to make your own meal and drink arrangements.

Sunwing Vacations: earn WestJet points on your packages
An eligible Sunwing Vacations package earns 1 WestJet point per dollar, based on your share of the base package price, before taxes and fees. Each traveller who adds their own WestJet Rewards ID earns on their share, so a couple booking together earns twice.
Silver, Gold and Platinum members also get tier benefits on these packages, including lounge access, priority check-in, priority boarding and priority security based on tier. Their free checked bag benefit applies beyond the first free checked bag already included by Sunwing.
Which Sunwing packages are eligible
An eligible package is sold by Sunwing Vacations for up to 9 people on one booking and includes at minimum a WestJet-operated flight and accommodations, for one combined base package price. Transfers, meal plans or attractions can also be included in that price.
What a Sunwing package earns
Take an individual share of $1,400 charged to your card, of which $1,100 is the base price before taxes and fees. The WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard earns 2 points per dollar on the full charge, and the WestJet RBC Mastercard earns 1.5 points.
| Paid with | Package points (1 pt/$ on $1,100) | Card points (on $1,400) | Total points | Value at 100 points = $1 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Card earning 2 pts/$ on WestJet packages | 1,100 | 2,800 | 3,900 | $39 |
| Card earning 1.5 pts/$ on WestJet packages | 1,100 | 2,100 | 3,200 | $32 |
| Other credit card | 1,100 | Depends on the card | 1,100 and up | $11 and up |
The same package also adds $220 in tier qualifying spend (20% of $1,100), for travel completed on or after September 9, 2026.

How to Book WestJet Vacations
Booking with WestJet Vacations is easy!
First, go to the WestJet Vacations website (or WestJet Vacations Quebec if you’re departing from Montreal, Quebec City, or Bagotville).
Next, search your desired departure airport, destination, and travel dates.

From the options listed in the search results, choose a package that suits your desired dates, price, and location. Make sure to consider whether you want an all-inclusive vacation or just a flight and hotel bundle
At this stage, you’ll need to select your preferred room type and flight times (if options are available).

Now you’ll need to select any add-ons you’d like to pre-book. Depending on the package you’ve chosen, this can include meal plans, activities, shared or private airport transfers, travel insurance, and more.
Then, once you’ve made all your selections, it’s time to pay.
You can pay by credit card, gift card, or by redeeming your WestJet points.

If you have questions or if you’d prefer to speak with a live person to book your trip, you can also call WestJet Vacations or WestJet Vacations Quebec to book over the phone.
Use your WestJet points for your vacation
If you’ve got some WestJet points saved up, you can easily use them to save money on the cost of your vacation.
Just go through the booking process as usual. Towards the end, you can apply your WestJet points to part or all of an eligible WestJet Vacations or Sunwing Vacations package, including taxes and fees.
On a Sunwing Vacations package, you need at least 5,000 WestJet points to redeem.
Simply choose how much you’d like to redeem at this stage and then complete the transaction as normal.

If you’re booking with WestJet Vacations Quebec to fly from either Montreal, Quebec City, or Bagotville, you’ll need to call the contact centre to redeem your WestJet points.
Also, keep in mind that WestJet points are only earned on any portion of the base price paid for by credit card or gift card, including base airfare, hotel, attractions, transfers, and meal plans. You don’t earn points on taxes, fees or other charges, or on group bookings of 10 or more people.
You can also earn WestJet points on WestJet Vacations land-only bookings, such as hotels, meal plans, airport transfers, car rentals and attractions. Sunwing Vacations land-only bookings are excluded.
Which Credit Card to Use
If you’d like to maximize the rewards you earn when booking travel with WestJet Vacations, you’ll want to either use one of RBC’s co-branded WestJet credit cards or a travel-focused card.
WestJet RBC credit cards
RBC offers two WestJet credit cards that let you earn WestJet points on all your purchases: the WestJet RBC Mastercard and the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard.
The WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard earns 2 WestJet points per dollar on WestJet flights and on WestJet Vacations and Sunwing Vacations packages; the WestJet RBC Mastercard earns 1.5 points on the same purchases. These rates apply when WestJet, WestJet Vacations or Sunwing Vacations appears as the merchant on your statement. Both cards also come with travel perks like an annual companion voucher.
Travel-focused credit cards
If you don’t have a WestJet credit card, there’s actually another way to build up your stash of WestJet points.
Using a credit card like the RBC Avion Visa Infinite, you can earn RBC Avion Rewards points, which can then be transferred to WestJet points at a rate of 100 Avion points = 100 WestJet points.
Not only that, but Avion points can also be transferred to British Airways Executive Club, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, and American Airlines AAdvantage, giving you expanded redemption options.
Looking beyond credit cards that will help you earn and redeem WestJet points, another great option is to choose a card that has high earning rates in the travel category, earns valuable travel rewards, or offers strong travel insurance.
For example, the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite comes with loads of travel perks and earns Aeroplan points which you can then use for flights, Air Canada Vacations, and more. Alternatively, the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite* Card is another great way to save on all-inclusive vacations.
You could also use the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite + which doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees, comes with free airport lounge access, and also earns Scene+ points, which are super useful for things like travel and free groceries.
Another great option is the National Bank World Elite Mastercard, which lets you take advantage of the card’s excellent travel insurance coverage, giving you peace of mind for your trip.
Bottom Line
WestJet Vacations lets you easily book relaxing vacations to beautiful locations in Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and the United States.
Whether you’re looking for a complete reset at a luxurious all-inclusive resort or a more do-it-yourself adventure with a flight and hotel bundle, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a vacation that feels right.
If you book a sun vacation every winter, choosing an eligible WestJet Vacations or Sunwing Vacations package and paying with a WestJet RBC card lets you earn twice: once on the package and again on the card.
