Tax season is not always synonymous with good news, unless you know how to take advantage of it. Chexy, the platform that allows Canadians to pay their bills and taxes by credit card, has just launched a new promotional offer that could earn you big rewards before April 30, 2026.
A New Temporary Offer: 2,000 Aeroplan points on your tax payments
Chexy announces an exclusive promotion for new users: get 2,000 Aeroplan points by making at least $10,000 in tax payments to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) or Revenu Quebec via the Chexy platform, before April 30, 2026.
What makes this offer particularly attractive for points collectors is that it can be combined with the existing 7,000-point welcome offer for new Aeroplan members. By combining the two, a new user can potentially earn up to 9,000 Aeroplan points simply by managing their tax obligations.

How does Chexy work for paying taxes?
The principle is simple: Chexy acts as an intermediary between your credit card and Canadian tax authorities. Since the CRA and Revenu Quebec do not accept direct credit card payments, Chexy debits your card, holds the funds, then transfers the payment to the government on your chosen date.
A processing fee of 1.75% applies to each payment. Therefore, you must ensure that the value of the rewards obtained via your credit card exceeds this cost for the operation to be advantageous. With a card offering 2% or more in cashback or points, the equation is generally favorable, and promotional bonuses like this one further improve the return.

The 3 steps to take advantage of the offer
- Create a Chexy account and link your Aeroplan number
- Make one or more eligible payments totaling at least $10,000 to the CRA or Revenu Quebec before April 30, 2026
- Receive your 2,000 Aeroplan points within approximately 60 days following the completion of payment processing
It is important to note that payments planned during the promotional period but completed after April 30, 2026, will not be eligible.
Milesopedia’s advice: is it really worth it?
Let’s do the math. Suppose you owe $15,000 in taxes and use the American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card which offers 1.25 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on government payments via Chexy:
- Points accumulated on purchases (1.25 pt/$): 15,000 × 1.25 = 18,750 points
- Chexy Tax Bonus Offer: 2,000 points
- Potential Total: 20,750 Aeroplan points
- Welcome bonus (if new member): 7,000 points
- Chexy fees (1.75%): $15,000 × 0.0175 = $262.50
Valuing Aeroplan points at approximately 2 cents per unit (target value for a flight), the 20,750 points accumulated in this scenario represent approximately $415 in reward value, for Chexy fees of $263. If you also meet the requirements of the base Aeroplan offer, you can earn an additional 7,000 points.
The net return is therefore clearly positive for a points collector, and this shows that using the American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card to pay your taxes can be profitable and strategic for maximizing your travel rewards. Even better if you are a new cardholder and can unlock the welcome bonus with your payment.
The offer also applies to businesses, providing a good opportunity to optimize corporate tax filings. Discover our guide on Chexy for small businesses to learn more
What to check before you start
Before transferring your tax payment via Chexy, keep a few important points in mind:
- Verify that your credit card does not cap point accumulation on this type of transaction.
- Ensure that your Aeroplan account is registered under the same name as your Chexy account.
- Confirm that your payments will be completed (not just planned) before April 30, 2026.
- It is forbidden to create multiple Chexy accounts to multiply bonuses: offenders will be disqualified.
Bottom Line
The Chexy and Aeroplan offer is a tangible opportunity to turn an unavoidable expense—your taxes—into fuel for your next trips. With up to 9,000 Aeroplan points at stake for new users who act before April 30, 2026, this is an opportunity not to be missed if you do not yet have a Chexy account.
As always, do the math with your specific card to verify that the return is positive after processing fees.
