Air France allows its loyal passengers to purchase Flying Blue Miles at any time during the year, for an approximate value of around 3 cents USD. We’ll explain how, and especially how to do it in the most advantageous way possible.
Air France sometimes puts special offers online to make purchasing Miles even more profitable, in the form of discounts or bonus Miles. The most recent one offered up to 45% off and ended on April 16, 2026.
To purchase Flying Blue Miles, you must first be a Flying Blue member. Registration is free and is done online on the loyalty program website.
Once you are registered and have your Flying Blue membership number, you must go to the Buy Miles page on the Flying Blue website to proceed with the purchase. You will not be able to view this page unless you are a member.
You can purchase Flying Blue Miles in increments of 2,000, between 2,000 and 100,000 Flying Blue Miles. When there is no promotion, the value of a Mile is equivalent to 3 cents USD.
Miles are credited to your account within 72 hours of purchase, and you have 14 days to cancel your purchase.
For Canadians, since the purchase of Flying Blue miles is billed in US dollars, we recommended to use a credit card with no conversion fees for this transaction.
As the transaction is carried out by Points.com (a Canadian company), taxes are also applied to this purchase.

Regarding American Express Membership Rewards, the transfer rate is 1,000 Membership Rewards points = 1,000 Flying Blue Miles.

For the French, as the purchase of Flying Blue miles is charged in US dollars, it is recommended to use a credit card with no conversion fees for foreign currency transactions.

Is it worth buying Flying Blue miles?
As with any miles and points purchase, this will depend on the circumstances. But when a discount of up to 45% is offered and you have a very specific trip coming up soon, it can be an interesting option. You’ll need to decide based on the reward flights you want to book very soon.
The Flying Blue program does not have a fixed fare structure, but it is possible to get good deals via the Flying Blue Promo Rewards, a monthly event offering savings of up to 50% on reward tickets.
For example, when Montreal was on promotion in June 2023, I was able to get four round-trip flights between Amsterdam and Montreal for only 45,000 Flying Blue Miles + 464 euros in taxes. Moreover, when booking with Flying Blue Miles, your first checked bag is included, which is not necessarily the case with paid fares.
So buying Flying Blue Miles can be a great way to get your hands on reward tickets in certain situations!
