With Neo Financial’s trio of World Elite Mastercards, you not only earn cash back on all purchases, but thanks to Neo’s network of over 10,000 merchant partners, you can also earn elevated cash back rates at participating merchants across Canada.
In this article, we explore the features available with the 3 Neo World Elite Mastercards as well as each card’s cash back structure to determine: is one of the Neo World Elite Mastercards worth adding to your wallet?
Trio of Neo World Elite Mastercards
Neo Financial, a Canadian online bank that offers a variety of banking, credit, and investment products, offers 3 Neo World Elite Mastercards, letting you choose the cash back card that best matches your spending style.
The three cards are:
- Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Gas & Grocery
- Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Shop & Dine
- Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Everywhere
As the bank’s top-tier cash back credit cards, each comes with an annual fee of $149 and a minimum income requirement of $80,000 (individual) or $150,000 (household).
It’s easy to apply for any of the Neo World Elite Mastercards online, and getting approved should take you less than 5 minutes, with credit limits reaching up to $30,000 for qualified applicants (as of June 2026).
In order to apply for either the Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Gas & Grocery, Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Shop & Dine, or the Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Everywhere, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Canadian resident
- Have a valid Canadian government-issued photo ID
- Be the age of majority in your province or territory of residence
Additionally, Neo Financial also offers the same three variations for the Neo World Mastercard® as well as the Neo Mastercard, all good options if you prefer a lower minimum income requirement or want to earn cash back without paying an annual fee.
The 3 Neo World Elite® Mastercards are also available as secured credit cards, which are great options if you’re new to Canada or don’t yet have a Canadian credit score. You can learn more about this option on the Neo World Elite Mastercard page.

Neo World Elite Mastercards – Earn Cash Back
Each of the Neo World Elite® Mastercards offers some of the most competitive cash back rates in Canada, and they’re structured in a way that lets you earn in a way that suits your spending habits. To see how they stack up against other options, check out our roundup of the best credit cards in Canada.
Neo World Elite Mastercard – Gas & Grocery
First, let’s look at the Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Gas & Grocery to see how it can save you money on these two major expenses and beyond.
With the Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Gas & Grocery, you earn the following cash back earning rates:
- Up to 5% cash back on groceries
- Up to 4% cash back on recurring payments
- Up to 3% cash back on gas
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
Neo World Elite Mastercard – Shop & Dine
Next, the Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Shop & Dine is designed for people who tend to spend more money on restaurants, take-out, and shopping, and who would like to enjoy elevated cash back earning rates in these categories.
The Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Shop & Dine card offers the following earning rates:
- Up to 5% cash back on food/drink
- Up to 3% cash back on shopping
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
For reference, expenses that fall within the food/drink category include fast food, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, caterers, and more. The shopping category encompasses spending such as clothing, footwear, electronics, hardware, home & garden, sporting goods, cosmetics, pets, jewellery, and more.
However, it’s important to note that Amazon purchases and wholesale purchases (which likely includes Costco) are not eligible for the elevated rate and will instead earn the base rate of 1%.
Neo World Elite Mastercard – Everywhere
The third card of the trio is the Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Everywhere, and this is a card that keeps it simple.
The Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Everywhere has no categories to track and earns up to 2% cash back on your everyday spending, with the earn rate dropping to 1% once you pass the monthly threshold.
Spending caps
Although the Neo World Elite® Mastercard trio of cards offer some of the highest cash back rates in Canada, it’s important to be aware of the spending caps that exist on the elevated earning categories.
Once you’ve reached the monthly cap in any elevated earning category (i.e., grocery, gas, and recurring bills with the Neo World Elite Mastercard – Gas & Grocery and food/drink and shopping with the Neo World Elite Mastercard – Shop & Dine), your cash back rate will drop to 1% in that category for the remainder of the month, before resetting at the start of the next billing cycle.
In practice, this means you earn the elevated rate on your spending up to the monthly threshold, then the base 1% rate on any spending beyond it. Because the exact thresholds can change, confirm the current limits in the Neo App before you count on a specific monthly amount.
Earn with Neo partners
With each of the Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Gas & Grocery, Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Shop & Dine, and Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Everywhere, you can also earn additional cash back with Neo’s 10,000+ partner merchants.
These partners include restaurants, grocery stores, popular brands, gas stations, and more. You can earn an average of 5% extra cash back with these partners, on top of the base cash back rates from the card.
To find eligible partners nearby, simply sign in to the Neo App and explore the merchant list or interactive map.

Cashing out your cash back
Cash back is available instantly in your Neo Rewards Account to use whenever you like. Unlike many other cash back cards, there’s no need to wait until the end of the month or year.
To access your available balance, simply log in to your account via the Neo App, tap the Rewards total, and then select “Cash out.”
From there, you can choose to send some or all of your accumulated cash back to pay down your Neo credit card balance or transfer it to your Neo Everyday account.
Is It Worth the $149 Fee?
Each Neo World Elite Mastercard carries a $149 annual fee, so the real question is whether your spending earns that back and then some. The answer depends on your profile. Below, we work through three common cases to show roughly how much net cash back you keep after the fee. Pick the card that matches where your money actually goes.
The grocery and gas family
Say a household puts $800 a month on groceries and $250 on gas with the Neo World Elite Mastercard – Gas & Grocery. At 5% on groceries, that is about $480 a year; at 3% on gas, about $90 a year. That is roughly $570 in cash back before partner offers. After the $149 fee, you keep close to $420, and Neo partner rates push it higher still.
The dining and shopping couple
Now picture a couple who spends $600 a month on restaurants and takeout and $400 on shopping with the Neo World Elite Mastercard – Shop & Dine. At 5% on food and drink, that is about $360 a year; at 3% on shopping, about $144 a year. Together, that is roughly $504 in cash back. After the $149 fee, you net around $355, again before any partner boosts.
The flat-rate general spender
Finally, consider someone who does not want to track categories and puts $2,500 a month on the Neo World Elite Mastercard – Everywhere. At up to 2% cash back, that works out to roughly $600 a year. After the $149 fee, you keep close to $450. For a flat-rate card with no categories to manage, that is a strong result, as long as your spending stays steady.
The takeaway: if your annual cash back clears about $300, the $149 fee pays for itself with room to spare. To pick between the three, match the card to your largest spending categories. - Extended Warranty and Purchase Protection
- Auto Rental Collision Loss Damage (not all features available for Quebec residents)
- Mastercard Travel Pass through DragonPass

Auto Rental Collision Loss Damage (only partially available for Quebec residents)
Each of the three Neo World Elite® Mastercards also provide Auto Rental Collision Loss Damage coverage, giving you extra peace of mind when renting a car.
This coverage can save you money because you can decline certain insurance that the rental agency offers, which often runs around $25 per day.
Mastercard Travel Pass through DragonPass
All three of the Neo World Elite® Mastercards also give you a Mastercard Travel Pass through DragonPass.
This feature gives you a complimentary DragonPass membership that lets you access over 1,400 airport lounges around the world, making your next trip through an airport a great deal more comfortable and enjoyable.
Just be aware that even though your credit card includes the membership, you’ll still need to pay the entrance fee for each visit (usually around $32 USD).
Comprehensive Travel Insurances (unavailable for Quebec residents)
The Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Gas & Grocery, Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Shop & Dine, and the Neo World Elite® Mastercard – Everywhere, also all come with a variety of helpful travel insurances, including Out of Province/Country Medical, Travel Cancellation/Trip Interruption, Delayed and Lost Baggage coverage, and more.
While the card’s travel insurance can certainly come in handy, keep in mind that Neo charges a 2.5% foreign transaction fee on all purchases made in a foreign currency (much like nearly every Canadian credit card).
