The Vancity enviro Visa Infinite card gives you the most value in year one: up to 40,000 points, a $200 travel credit and two years of annual fee rebates, if you apply by November 1, 2026. If you carry a balance from month to month, the Vancity enviro Visa Infinite Low Interest card gives you the same points at 11.25% interest.
Vancity is a British Columbia credit union, and its enviro Visa credit cards are available only to BC residents aged 19 or older. We compare the four cards you are most likely to consider here, with what each one actually earns you depending on whether you pay your balance in full.
If you already bank with a national institution, this guide also helps you decide whether a Vancity card earns its place in your wallet.
The Vancity enviro Visa Infinite card earns you up to 10 Vancity Rewards points per $1. Its welcome offer is worth up to $720 in year one, in points, travel credit and rebated fees.
20,000 points after $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months
20,000 more points after $12,000 in purchases in the first 12 months
$200 travel credit after $200 in eligible travel purchases in the first year
$120 annual fee rebated for the first two years
To get it, you need to apply by November 1, 2026. The offer is not available to existing enviro Visa cardholders, or to anyone who closed one in the last 12 months.
Your everyday earn rate
Beyond the welcome offer, you earn points on every purchase:
10 points per $1 at select local partner businesses (Modo, JJ Bean, Fresh Prep)
5 points per $1 on public transit and ferries
2.5 points per $1 on groceries
2 points per $1 on travel booked through Vancity Rewards
1.25 points per $1 on all other purchases
The card also gives you 2 complimentary airport lounge visits a year through Visa Airport Companion, which covers more than 1,200 lounges worldwide. These visits are for the Primary Cardholder.
If you hold a Vancity Total Chequing Account, your card's annual fee is rebated every year. This rebate does not stack with the welcome offer, so it becomes useful from year three onward.

The Vancity enviro™ Visa Infinite* card earns 1.25 to 10 Vancity Rewards points per $1: 10 points at select local businesses, 5 on public transit and ferries, 2.5 on groceries and 1.25 on everything else, with 2 points per $1 on travel booked through Vancity Rewards. Every 100 points is worth $1, whether you redeem them for travel, cash back, gift cards or charitable donations.
New cardholders who apply by November 1, 2026 can earn up to 40,000 bonus points (20,000 after $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months, plus 20,000 after $12,000 in the first 12 months), a $200 travel statement credit and a rebate of the $120 annual fee for the first two years. Vancity values the first-year offer at up to $1,014.
The card includes a Visa Airport Companion membership with 2 complimentary lounge visits per year, flight delay, baggage and mobile device insurance, and Visa Infinite perks. enviro Visa Infinite Low Interest: points and a low rate
This card gives you exactly the same points as the enviro Visa Infinite, with an 11.25% interest rate instead of 19.50%. You also get the same 2 lounge visits and the same insurance.

Offer deadline: January 12, 2027
Welcome points: none, the offer covers the annual fee only

Low rate or points: the math with a balance
If you carry a balance, the low rate saves you about $248 in interest a year on $3,000. Here is the profile behind our calculation:
Groceries: $700 a month
Public transit: $150 a month
Other purchases: $1,150 a month
Average balance carried all year: $3,000
What this profile gives you on each of the two enviro Visa Infinite cards:
Points earned, on both cards: 47,250 points, or $472.50
Interest at 19.50% (enviro Visa Infinite): about $585 a year
Interest at 11.25% (enviro Visa Infinite Low Interest): about $337.50 a year
Your net result, year by year:
Year 1: $487.50 with the enviro Visa Infinite (points, 40,000 welcome points and the $200 credit, minus interest), versus $135 with the Low Interest version
Year 2: -$112.50 with the enviro Visa Infinite, versus $135 with the Low Interest version
Year 3, annual fees paid: -$232.50 with the enviro Visa Infinite, versus -$10 with the Low Interest version
The takeaway: the enviro Visa Infinite wins year one thanks to its offer, then the Low Interest version pulls ahead from year two if you carry a balance. Your best return still comes from paying in full: with the 21-day grace period, you then pay no interest on purchases.
Simplified calculation: annual interest on a constant $3,000 balance, points valued at 1¢ each.
enviro Visa Classic: points with no annual fee
With the Vancity enviro Visa Classic card, you earn Vancity Rewards points without paying an annual fee. You get 1 point per $2 spent, doubled on flights, hotels and car rentals booked through Vancity Rewards.
At $2,000 of spending a month, that adds up to 12,000 points a year, or $120. You can also add up to 4 additional cards at no cost. The interest rate is 19.50%, and the card has no welcome offer.
enviro Visa Classic Low Interest: pay down a balance
With this card, you pay 11.25% interest for just $25 a year, and balance transfers from another card come with no transfer fee. It does not earn points: its job is to cut your interest costs.
On a $3,000 balance carried all year:
Interest at 11.25%: about $337.50
Interest at 19.50%: about $585
Net savings, after the $25 annual fee: about $222.50 a year
Keep in mind that interest on a transferred balance starts on the transfer date: the 21-day grace period only applies to new purchases.
Every 100 points gives you $1, whether you redeem for travel, cash back, gift cards or a charitable donation. You always know exactly what your points are worth.
Travel: flights, hotels, car rentals and packages booked on the Vancity Rewards site, with no blackout dates or booking fees
Cash back: toward your card balance, a recent purchase or a Vancity loan, as long as you hold a Vancity deposit account
Donations: from 2,000 points ($20), with a tax receipt
Gift cards: from a range of merchants
There is no cap on the points you earn. On the other hand, your points do not transfer to a travel program such as Aeroplan: their value stays fixed at 1¢. In addition, 5% of enviro Visa card profits fund Vancity's enviroFund environmental program every year.
Insurance: solid cover for the unexpected
Both enviro Visa Infinite cards protect you well against common travel and purchase mishaps:
Common carrier travel accident: up to $500,000
Flight delayed more than 4 hours: up to $500
Delayed baggage: up to $500, and up to $1,000 for lost baggage
Car rental: collision and loss damage, up to 48 consecutive days
Mobile devices: up to $1,000
Purchases: 90-day purchase security, one-year extended warranty and price protection
Both enviro Visa Classic cards cover you for common carrier travel accidents (up to $200,000), with extended warranty and purchase security.
Eligibility: BC residents only
If you live in British Columbia and are 19 or older, you can apply online in about 10 minutes. The two enviro Visa Classic cards have no minimum income requirement.
For the two enviro Visa Infinite cards, you need to meet just one of these criteria:
Personal income: $60,000 a year
Household income: $100,000 a year
Credit card spending: $15,000 a year, across all your cards
Investable assets: $250,000, including chequing, savings, RRSP and TFSA balances
If you declared bankruptcy in the last 7 years or have no credit history, Vancity points you to its enviro Secured Visa card.
Other Vancity cards
Vancity also offers cards for more specific needs, which this comparison does not cover in detail:
enviro Visa Classic Low Interest with Vancity Rewards: $50 a year, 11.25%, with points
Student versions and a secured card: to build your credit
Our verdict
If you pay your balance every month, the Vancity enviro Visa Infinite card is the best pick in the lineup until November 1, 2026. In our $2,000-a-month example, it gives you $1,072.50 in value in year one, with no annual fee to pay.
If you carry a balance, the Low Interest version costs you less from year two. And if you simply want points with no fee, the enviro Visa Classic does the job.
Finally, we recommend comparing with cards available across Canada: if you want maximum travel value, a program like Aeroplan can earn you more than 1¢ per point. See our ranking of the best credit cards and create your free member account to access member-only offers.
Alternatives available across Canada
Still deciding? Compare each Vancity card with its equivalent available across Canada. Here are the ones we suggest, card by card:
Instead of the enviro Visa Infinite: the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, at $139 a year (rebated in year one), with up to 160,000 TD Rewards points and an annual $100 travel credit with Expedia For TD.
Instead of the enviro Visa Infinite Low Interest: no card available across Canada combines an 11.25% rate with rewards. If you pay your balance every month, the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite+ Card gives you 4% cash back on groceries and recurring payments (on up to $25,000 in spending a year), for $120 a year, free in year one.
Right below it: the BMO CashBack World Elite Mastercard, with 5% cash back on groceries (on up to $500 in spending per statement period), for $139 a year, free in year one.
Instead of the enviro Visa Classic: the Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card, with no annual fee, 2% cash back in 2 categories you choose (3 if your rewards go to a Tangerine Savings Account) and 0.5% on everything else.
Instead of the enviro Visa Classic Low Interest: the CIBC Select Visa Card, at $29 a year (rebated in year one), with a 13.99% rate and 0% on balance transfers for up to 10 months, with a 1% transfer fee.
On our $2,000-a-month profile, the TD First Class Travel card gives you more in year one, then the gap narrows. Its points are worth 0.5¢ each when you book through Expedia For TD:
Year 1: $1,344 with the TD card ($444 in points, 160,000 welcome points worth $800 and the $100 travel credit), versus $1,072.50 with the enviro Visa Infinite
Year 2: $405 with the TD card, after its $139 fee, versus $472.50 with the Vancity card, whose fee is still rebated
Year 3: $405 with the TD card, versus $352.50 with the Vancity card
Over 3 years: about $257 more with the TD card, as long as you book your travel through Expedia For TD
If you transfer a $3,000 balance, the CIBC Select costs you less in year one, as long as the 0% promotion runs the full 10 months:
CIBC Select: about $100 in year one ($30 transfer fee, 0% for 10 months, then 2 months at 13.99%), with no annual fee in year one
enviro Visa Classic Low Interest: about $362.50 ($337.50 in interest and the $25 annual fee)
After that: the Vancity card is cheaper again, at 11.25% versus 13.99%
You need to live in British Columbia, have a BC address and be 19 or older. For the enviro Visa Infinite cards, you also need to meet one income, spending or asset criterion, such as $60,000 in personal income.
How much is a Vancity Rewards point worth?
One point is worth 1¢, or $1 per 100 points. The value stays the same whether you redeem for travel, cash back, gift cards or a donation.
Do I need a Vancity account to redeem points for cash back?
Yes. To redeem for cash back, you need a Vancity deposit account. Redemptions for travel, gift cards or donations do not require one.
When does the enviro Visa Infinite welcome offer end?
You need to apply by November 1, 2026 to get up to 40,000 points, the $200 travel credit and two years of annual fee rebates. The Low Interest version's offer runs until January 12, 2027.
Do Vancity credit cards include travel medical insurance?
No, none of the four cards in this comparison includes it. In the Vancity lineup, only the enviro Visa Infinite Privilege covers emergency medical costs, for 22 days under age 65 and 3 days from age 65. Buy separate travel insurance before you leave the country.
Can I transfer a balance to a Vancity card?
Yes, Vancity charges no balance transfer fee. Interest does start on the transfer date, though, at the card's rate: 11.25% on the Low Interest cards and 19.50% on the others.
How many lounge visits does the enviro Visa Infinite include?
The Primary Cardholder gets 2 complimentary visits a year to Visa Airport Companion lounges, after enrolling with their card. Additional visits are charged a fee.
