The program launched in 2015 as the digital addition to Canadian Tire money rewards program and has expanded every year since, giving Canadians more ways to earn and save.
In this article, we show you the best ways to earn and redeem with Triangle Rewards so that you can get the most out of this program.
The Canadian Tire Triangle Rewards program is free to join, and it’s incredibly easy to sign up and start earning.
You can enroll in person at a participating store or online through the Triangle Rewards website. Then just show your membership card each time you make an eligible purchase to earn the associated Canadian Tire money rewards.
Although Canadian Tire stopped issuing their paper Canadian Tire money in 2020 (shifting the focus to the Triangle Rewards digital program available through the Canadian Tire website and app) that doesn’t mean that you have to turn your stack of Canadian Tire bills into an arts and crafts project!
You can still use the paper money at Canadian Tire as you did in the past or you have the amount transferred to your digital account.
TIP: Paper Canadian Tire Money can be redeemed for merchandise or transferred to your digital Triangle Rewards account exclusively at Canadian Tire locations. You will not be able to use your paper money at any of the partnered retailer.
The most popular way to earn Canadian Tire money with Triangle Rewards is by shopping at Canadian Tire stores, both in person and online.

As a member of the Triangle Rewards program, you earn 0.4% back in Canadian Tire money on the pre-tax amount every time you make a purchase and show your membership at the listed stores.
You can also earn at the same rate on all eligible online purchases through the partnered retailers website, with the exception of TrioHockey.ca (which includes Sports Rousseau, Hockey Experts, and L’Entrepôt du Hockey).
Another great way to earn with Triangle Rewards is at Canadian Tire’s Gas+/Essence+ and at Petro-Canada.
By scanning your membership card, key fob, or digital app, you earn 3 cents in Canadian Tire money per litre of fuel purchased when you fill up your tank and pay cash or debit. If you pay with a non-Triangle Rewards credit card, you earn the lower rate of 0.5 cents per litre.
You can also earn a higher rate of return if you use one of the two Triangle Rewards credit cards (more on this below).
However, keep in mind that you’re not able to redeem Canadian Tire Money at gas stations.
Triangle Rewards has joined forces with Petro-Points, giving you the opportunity to earn with both programs when you fill your tank at Gas+/Essence+ and Petro-Canada locations across the country.
To do this, just link your Triangle Rewards account with your Petro-Points account and then you only need to scan one card to earn both Canadian Tire money and Petro-Points when you pay for you gas.
As an extra bonus, once you’ve linked your accounts, you can also convert your Petro-Points to Canadian Tire money, giving you more ways to earn and redeem.
Triangle Rewards offers two co-branded Mastercards: the Triangle Mastercard and the Triangle World Elite Mastercard.
These cards not only let you earn Canadian Tire money faster and at more stores, but they also give you some notable perks like travel insurance and roadside assistance.
The Triangle Rewards credit cards are particularly lucrative when you stack their earnings on top of the points you earn as a Triangle Rewards member and also on top of the Petro-Points earned when you’ve linked your accounts.
With Canadian Tire’s Triangle Rewards program, you can stack multiple offers to really maximize the amount of Canadian Tire money you earn on your purchase.
As a Triangle Rewards member, you’ll get personalized and promotional offers in the program’s app and in your emails.
It’s common to see opportunities to earn 20x the rewards on specific products, and we’ve even seen this go up to 50x the rewards!
These promotions can be stacked on top of other discounts and offers, letting you earn and save quickly.
Plus, you can earn even more by using your Triangle Mastercard or your Triangle World Elite Mastercard to pay for your purchase.
A unique feature of the Triangle Rewards program is the ability to swap your personalized offers for a different offer that’s more appealing to you.

If you’re looking to grow the amount of Canadian Tire money you have in your Triangle Rewards account in a big way, you’ll want to watch out for the program’s Bonus Days, which give you a chance to earn more rewards faster.
Bonus Days in the past have offered the chance to earn 30–60x the Canadian Tire money on your purchase when you meet the offer’s requirements.
Triangle Select is a premium subscription service offered by Triangle Rewards that lets you enjoy boosted earnings on your eligible purchases, plus additional perks and benefits at Canadian Tire and select retailers.

With Triangle Rewards, you earn Canadian Tire money, and each $1 in rewards is equal to $1 Canadian when redeemed.
When you’re ready to use some (or all) of the rewards you’ve saved up, it’s incredibly easy to do so. You can redeem Canadian Tire money in person at eligible stores and online whenever you want and there’s no minimum redemption amount.
The following items are not eligible for redemptions: gift cards, prepaid cards, phone cards, lottery tickets, tire fees (and taxes), hunting and fishing licenses, tobacco products, alcohol, some store services and fees, some memberships, insurance and warranties, trade-ins, and other select transactions.

If you’d like to use your Triangle Rewards Canadian Tire dollars online, you can redeem them through Canadian Tire’s website when you check out.
To access your balance and the opportunity to redeem, you need to be logged into your Triangle Rewards account or you need to enter your Triangle Rewards credit card number.
Unfortunately, Canadian Tire money can only be used online with Canadian Tire, and you aren’t currently able to redeem online with any other retailer. Additionally, keep in mind that can’t use your Canadian Tire dollars to pay for shipping and handling fees.
To really get the most from your Triangle Rewards balance, it’s a good idea to watch for bonus redemption offers in the app and on the website.
For example, with a recent offer, you could get $10 back in Canadian Tire money when you redeem $50 or more – saving you upwards of 20%!

Signing up for Triangle Rewards is easy!
1. Go to the Triangle Rewards website and click on “Join Triangle Rewards.”
2. At this stage, you can choose to join the Triangle Rewards program, link an existing rewards card (if you have a physical card but have not registered it online yet), or link an existing Triangle Mastercard.
3. Make your selection, fill in the required personal information to set up or link your Triangle Rewards account, and submit.
4. That’s it! You should be signed up and ready to start earning.
