Triangle Rewards | Canadian Tire

Triangle Rewards is Canadian Tire’s free loyalty program. You earn CT Money on eligible purchases, then spend it at participating retailers. A loyalty card is enough to get started; a Triangle credit card is a separate product.

How Triangle Rewards works

Membership is open to Canadian residents who have reached the age of majority in their province. Register for the program, then present your card or app when making eligible purchases.

CT Money provides purchasing power within the participating network. You cannot withdraw it as cash or use it to pay your credit card balance.

The official Triangle rules explain exclusions and partner conditions. They also distinguish earning rewards from redeeming them.

Where to earn CT Money

The network includes Canadian Tire and several related retailers. Participating brands include:

• Clothing and sport: Sport Chek, Mark’s, and L’Équipeur.
• Outdoor equipment: Atmosphere and participating Sports Experts stores.
• Hockey: Sports Rousseau, Hockey Experts, and L’Entrepôt du Hockey.
• Party supplies: Party City.

Participation and eligible payment methods can vary by retailer. Check the store and offer before relying on a reward.

The loyalty card’s base rate is 0.4% on eligible purchases. Multiplier offers use that base rate, subject to their terms. A 20x base-rate offer therefore equals 8% when the offer applies to the full purchase.

A $100 eligible purchase at the base rate earns $0.40 in CT Money. At 20x the base rate, the same purchase earns $8, before applicable rounding rules.

Offers in the app

Activate offers that match purchases you already plan to make. Some can be combined; others have minimum spending requirements or product exclusions.

A multiplier increases CT Money earned on a purchase. It does not multiply your existing balance when you redeem it. Buying something unnecessary still increases your spending.

Tim Hortons and linked accounts

You can link Triangle Rewards and Tims Rewards to earn CT Money at participating Tim Hortons restaurants. The official partnership page distinguishes loyalty-account rewards from rewards earned by paying with a Triangle credit card.

Fuel partners have their own terms. Do not apply an in-store earning rate automatically to gas stations or Tim Hortons.

Spend your CT Money

One dollar of CT Money provides one dollar toward an eligible purchase. Present your registered card or use the retailer’s accepted method. Online redemption availability varies by retailer.

You can redeem part of your balance and pay the remaining purchase amount another way. However, you generally do not earn CT Money on the portion paid with CT Money.

Redemption exclusions include gift cards, tobacco, and alcohol. Also, CT Money earned during a transaction cannot be redeemed in that same transaction.

If you return an item paid for with CT Money, that portion goes back to your rewards account. It does not become a cash refund.

Can your balance expire?

The rules allow expiry after at least 18 months without earning or redeeming CT Money. Read the provisions applicable to your account and province. Signing in to the app does not necessarily count as an eligible transaction.

Loyalty card or Mastercard?

The Triangle^™ Mastercard^® and Triangle^™ World Elite Mastercard^® have no annual fee. Both require credit approval.

Both earn 4% in CT Money at eligible network retailers. Their grocery rates differ:

• Triangle Mastercard: 1.5% on eligible purchases.
• Triangle World Elite Mastercard: 3% on eligible purchases.

An annual eligible grocery spending cap and exclusions, including Costco and Walmart, apply. Read each card’s details for the full conditions.

The World Elite has higher income requirements. It therefore does not automatically suit every member. Compare our best credit cards for your spending profile, and pay your balance by the due date.

Is Triangle Select worthwhile?

Triangle Select is a separate subscription costing $89 per year plus tax. It adds bonus CT Money on eligible in-store purchases and certain shipping benefits.

Select multipliers use the base rate. They do not simply multiply a Triangle Mastercard’s 4% rate. Ship-to-home, curbside, and in-store pickup orders also have different eligibility rules.

To assess the subscription, add only the extra rewards your planned purchases would earn. Compare that amount with the annual cost including tax. A welcome gift for new subscribers is not a recurring benefit.
