Universal Studios Theme Parks Around the World

Where Are the 5 Universal Studio Theme Parks Located?

There are 5 Universal Studio theme parks around the world, with each offering a diversity of rides, attractions, performances, and more, plus special touches to reflect and celebrate the local culture.

The locations of the 5 Universal Studios theme parks are:

• Osaka, Japan – Universal Studios Japan
• Singapore – Universal Studios Singapore
• Beijing, China – Universal Beijing Resort
• Orlando, Florida – Universal Orlando Resort
• Los Angeles, California – Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios – Things to Consider

When planning a trip to one (or more) of Universal Studios’ theme parks around the world, there’s a few key things to think about:

Tickets

Each of the Universal Studios parks has different ticketing options depending on how many days you’re planning to spend there and which of the areas and attractions you want to see. Each location sells their tickets separately on their website, or you can purchase tickets through an array of third-party vendors.

For the locations like Universal Orlando Resort, you’ll want to explore the price options closely as there are separate tickets for each of the 4 individual parks, as well as package deals if you want to visit multiple parks. There are options to buy tickets to 1, 2, 3, or all 4 parks together.

You may also want to consider spending a bit extra and getting the Universal Express Pass which lets you skip the line at many of your favourite rides and attractions. While the pass is not cheap (and needs to be purchased in addition to the theme park tickets), it does make it a lot easier to see and do everything you want during your visit.

Accommodations

Before buying your tickets, you should also consider where you’re going to stay during your visit.

All 5 of the Universal Studios locations have nearby hotels that offer package deals that include accommodations and entrance tickets to the parks. These packages also often provide bonus perks and benefits as well, such as transportation, dining, or retail discounts/vouchers.

Rides and Attractions

Universal Studios theme parks are big! With so many rides, activities, and things to see, it’s a good idea to do some research before you arrive. To make sure you don’t miss out on something spectacular, take a look at what’s available in the park, what time it all happens, whether you need to make a reservation, and whether it’s appropriate for everyone in your group (some rides/attractions won’t be kid-friendly).

Once you’ve done your research, make a plan on how you’d like to explore the park. The key here is to prioritize the most important lands, rides, and attractions to make sure you aren’t too tired to enjoy them by the end of the day.

And of course, don’t forget to explore the local specialties and unique lands in each park – whether it’s delicious foods options at Discovery Food Court in Singapore or one-of-a-kind lands like Donkey Kong Country in Japan!

Universal Studios – In Asia

If you’re a fan of theme parks and are heading to Asia, you’ll almost certainly want to add a trip to one of the 3 Universal Studios theme parks in the region.

In the sections below, we’ll take a look at some of the highlights of each location, and explore how you can use points to get there.

Universal Studios Japan

Universal Studios Japan is located in Osaka, Japan’s second largest city and a popular destination for many reasons.

This park is filled with unique rides, attractions, and performances, including some Japan-centric areas like Super Nintendo World, Donkey Kong Country, and Hello Kitty’s Fashion Avenue.

Overall, there are 11 unique lands for you to enjoy during your visit:

• Jurassic Park
• Amity Village
• Waterworld
• Universal Wonderland
• Minion Park
• The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
• Super Nintendo World
• Donkey Kong Country
• Hollywood
• New York
• San Francisco

Keep in mind that some of the most popular attractions and lands, like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, have timed-entry tickets that you’ll need to sign up for when you arrive to the park. It’s important to do this early as these tickets can sell out.

How you spend your time at Universal Studios Japan will really depend on the preferences of you and your group, but I will say that if you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll definitely want to check out the beautiful view of Hogwarts reflecting on the lake that’s visible from the 3 Broomsticks restaurant’s outside seating area.

Universal Studios Singapore

Universal Studios Singapore is the smallest of the 5 parks, so you won’t find many of the bigger attractions that are available at the other 4 parks. However, if you’re a fan of theme parks, and you’re visiting this small city-state, I’m sure you’ll still find lots to see and enjoy.

Universal Studios Singapore is divided into the following 7 themed lands:

• Illumination’s Minion Land
• Sci-Fi City
• The Lost World
• Far Far Away
• Ancient Egypt
• New York
• Hollywood

During your visit, you can explore the whimsical fairy tale world of Far Far Away, take a ride on the exciting and immersive Jurassic Park Rapids ride, and get your blood pumping the bigger rides like the Battlestar Galactica dueling rollercoasters.

Then when you’re hungry, make sure to check out the Discovery Food Court where you can try local Singaporean food options like chicken rice and laksa.

Universal Beijing Resort

Universal Beijing Resort is the newest of the 3 Universal Studios’ theme parks in Asia.

It opened in September 2021, and its 7 themed lands offer something for everyone.

• Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness
• Minion Land
• Transformers Metrobase
• The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
• Jurassic World Isla Nublar
• Waterworld
• Hollywood

Thanks to the park’s central location in the Tongzhou District of Beijing, it’s easy to arrive by transit, making this a very accessible location for those visiting the Chinese capital city.

Getting there on points

If you’re planning to use points to get you from Canada to Asia and/or to help offset the cost of the flight, accommodations, and entrance tickets, there’s a few travel loyalty programs that can really help you out.

Aeroplan points are easy to collect thanks to the many co-branded credit cards, and these points can be tremendously useful in getting you across the Pacific Ocean to any of the Universal Studios locations in Asia. Plus, thanks to the program’s generous stopover feature, you could potentially visit a bonus destination for only an extra 5,000 Aeroplan points.

Our guide to maximizing your Aeroplan points on a trip to Asia is packed with tips, so you’ll definitely want to add that to your reading list.

If you’re also thinking of travelling around to different cities or countries while in Asia, consider collecting RBC Avion Rewards points with a card like the RBC Avion Visa Infinite. This is because RBC Avion points can be transferred to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles which can be useful when travelling between multiple cities/countries in Asia.

You can also use other flexible rewards currencies to help offset the cost of the entrance tickets. Scotiabank’s Scene+ points can be used to cover travel expenses (including theme park tickets), when you use an eligible credit card like the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite +* Card or the Scotiabank Gold American Express^® Card.

Additionally, it’s always helpful to have a great all-around card like the American Express Cobalt^® Card which lets you earn points quickly and then transfer them to programs like Aeroplan and Marriott Bonvoy to help cover your travel costs.

Universal Studios – In the United States

If a trip to Asia isn’t currently in your calendar, you can always visit either of the 2 classic Universal Studios locations in the United States. Universal also opened a third US destination in 2026, Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas, a regional park built for families with young children rather than a Universal Studios park.

Perhaps you’d like to visit Universal Studios Hollywood as part of a larger tour of the Golden State, or maybe you’re looking at a March Break vacation down to Universal Orlando Resort in Florida specifically for the theme parks – either way, there’s sure to be lots of thrills, sun, and fun.

Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood, located in Los Angeles, California, is the original of the 5 global theme parks, having first opened back in 1964.

With the theme park being an extension of the still-active Universal film studio, this location gives you the opportunity to enjoy a Studio Tour which takes you on a 60-minute exploration of studio lot, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how some of your favourite films came to be.

Universal Studios Hollywood features the following 10 themed lands, giving you days and days worth of adventure possibilities:

• Super Nintendo World
• The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
• Jurassic World
• Minion Land
• Springfield, U.S.A
• Transformers Metrobase
• Waterworld
• CityWalk
• Hollywood
• Universal Plaza

Universal Orlando Resort

Universal Orlando Resort is actually 4 theme parks: Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal Volcano Bay, and Universal Epic Universe.

Over the years, this Universal Studios location has proven to be a very popular choice for people travelling from Ontario and Quebec thanks to the short distance and abundance of relatively cheap flights!

Universal Studios Florida

Of the 4 parks, Universal Studios Florida is the most focused on shows, though it still has plenty of rides to enjoy. Compared to the other 2 non-water-based parks, this option is a top pick for kid-friendly activities, and it includes 8 distinct lands:

• Illumination’s Minion Land
• The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley
• World Expo
• Springfield, U.S.A
• DreamWorks Land
• New York
• San Francisco
• Hollywood

Universal Islands of Adventure

Universal Islands of Adventure is focused on thrill rides like big rollercoasters, making it better for adults (or at least slightly older children). At this park, you can explore 8 lands, many of which are only available at this location:

• Marvel Super Hero Island
• Toon Lagoon
• Skull Island: Reign of Kong
• Jurassic Park
• The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade
• The Lost Continent
• Seuss Landing
• Port of Entry

Universal Epic Universe

Universal Epic Universe is the newest area of the Universal Orlando Resort, which opened in May 2025.  With 5 worlds, it aims to be the most immersive of all the parks, taking you on captivating journeys through its rides, attractions, and shows.

This park’s 5 hyper-immersive worlds are:

• How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk
• Super Nintendo World
• The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic
• Celestial Park
• Dark Universe

Universal Volcano Bay

The fourth park that makes up the Universal Orlando Resort is Universal Volcano Bay, which is a water park, giving you a refreshing option for when you need a break from dry land.

Tickets to each of the 4 parks can be purchased separately or as part of a package. To see all the available ticket options, take a look at the Universal Orlando Resorts ticketing page; though keep in mind that there may be special pricing and deals available through other ticket sellers.

Getting there with points

Thanks to how close Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood are to Canada and how many flights are available, getting enough points to get there won’t take you too long.

To begin, you’ll want to focus on collecting strong airline loyalty points like Aeroplan (or WestJet Rewards points and VIPorter points), and other flexible rewards currencies like Scene+ points, TD Rewards points, and American Express Membership Rewards points.

Points can be accumulated by signing up for the right co-branded credit card to get a nice welcome bonus and to collect points on your day-to-day spending. In fact, if you have any larger expenses coming up, like maybe a home renovation, this can be a great time to get a new credit card, as this big purchase can help you more easily meet the minimum spend requirement for the card’s welcome bonus.

Once you’ve got a nice balance in your loyalty account, you can then redeem them for award flights to the Universal Studios of your choice.

Credit card welcome offers change regularly, so take a look at the current best Aeroplan credit card offers to decide which card is right for your points-earning goals.

Collecting flexible points currencies like Scene+ points, TD Rewards points, and American Express Membership Rewards points is also super useful as these can offset flights, accommodations, park entrance tickets, and more. This can be done directly through statement credits or through each program’s travel portal.

You can also transfer your Membership Rewards points to other loyalty programs like Aeroplan and Marriott Bonvoy to bolster those account balances and get you closer to your desired award flight or free night’s stay.

Bottom Line

A trip to any of the 5 Universal Studios theme parks around the world is a fantastic way to enjoy immersive entertainment and let your imagination run wild! Whether you’re planning to visit one Universal Studios location or multiple, your adventures are sure to be magical!
