Overview
Porter Airlines offers the VIPorter loyalty program. Here’s how to earn and use VIPorter points, and manage your status and BMO co-branded credit cards.
Since June 15, 2026, Porter has also launched flights from the new MET Airport in Montreal, multiplying the opportunities to earn VIPorter points.
How do I earn VIPorter points?
The currency for this program is called the VIPorter point. You earn points on Porter flights, checked bags, seat selection, etc. It’s a pretty simple loyalty program.
Each dollar spent = $1 credit (called « Qualifying Spend ») applicable to your VIPorter status.
Every dollar spent = accumulation of VIPorter points that you can redeem for flights.
VIPorter members earn VIPorter points every time they fly on Porter-operated flights. A « qualifying » flight is any Porter flight made by the member for which the total cost has been paid in full. If the cost of the flight was paid with VIPorter points, it is not a Qualifying Travel.
However, if a flight was paid for in dollars and points redemption, only the Dollars value shall be Qualifying Travel. The portion paid in points will not be considered as Qualifying Travel.
VIPorter points are awarded for every dollar spent on :
- Base rates (after discounts, if applicable)
- Seat selection fees
- Change fees
- Checked baggage fees
- Pet expenses
- Fees for unaccompanied minors
VIPorter points are not accumulated on:
- Taxes
- NAV sucharges (navigation, insurance, fuel)
- Airport fees
- Administrative and other third-party fees charged by Porter
And the higher your VIPorter status, the more VIPorter points and benefits you will get with the airline.
- VIPorter member: 5 VIPorter points/$1 spent
- Passport member: 6 VIPorter points/$1 spent
- Venture member: 6 VIPorter points/$1 spent
- Ascent member: 7 VIPorter points/$1 spent
- First Member: 7 VIPorter points/$1 spent
VIPorter points will be credited to the account within 2 business days of the eligible flight, if the member number has been added prior to travel.
Porter does not offer the possibility to buy VIPorter points. The only way to earn VIPorter points is to spend on Porter flights.
If you do not collect or redeem VIPorter points for 24 consecutive months, your VIPorter points will expire. These expired points cannot be reinstated.
How to use VIPorter points?
You can redeem your VIPorter points for all flights at any time, subject to seat availability. There is no reward chart: pricing is dynamic. The number of points to be redeemed varies according to the fare chosen.
You can redeem your VIPorter points in two ways:
- Points only: you use your points to pay all or part of the base fare for your flight. You pay taxes, fees and the balance of the fare in cash.
- Cash + points : you pay the base fare of your flight in points and cash. You pay taxes in cash.
VIPorter points can be redeemed online after logging into your account, or by calling the Porter call center at 1-888-619-8622.
VIPorter points are redeemable for Porter flights, and since 2025, you can also redeem your Porter points for Air Transat and Alaska Airlines flights.

In this case, the value of VIPorter points is as follows:

In this case, the most interesting option is the Cash + VIPorter Points option. Generally speaking, you’ll get between 1 and 2 cents per VIPorter point.
However, VIPorter points cannot be redeemed with other Porter partner airlines (jetBlue, El Al Israel Airlines, Icelandair, Qatar Airways and Azores Airlines).
The number of points required to pay the basic rate depends on the rate. If it is low, the number of points needed for the exchange will be low.
If you cancel a reservation made with points redemption, VIPorter points will automatically be returned to your VIPorter account.
The different statuses at VIPorter
There are 5 VIPorter status levels: Member, Passport, Horizon, Essor and Premier.
Obtaining a VIPorter status is linked to your expenses per calendar year :
- VIPorter Member: up to $1,999
- VIPorter Passport: between $2,000 and $2,999
- VIPorter Venture: between $3,000 and $5,999
- VIPorter Ascent: between $6,000 and $9,999
- VIPorter First: $10,000 and over
As soon as the member reaches the qualifying amount to move up to the next membership level, he or she will enjoy the benefits associated with this new level. The new status will apply to all reservations made from that day until December 31 of the following year.
In addition to earning VIPorter points faster, Passport, Venture, Ascent and First members enjoy benefits such as:
- priority check-in
- priority security lane
- priority boarding
- priority re-accommodation in case of flight delay
All Passport, Venture, Ascent and First member benefits are also available to other people on your reservation (except for groups of 10 or more passengers).

Frequently asked questions about VIPorter
How do I become a VIPorter member?
To join the VIPorter program, you must have a valid e-mail address. You can register online here. Each member receives a unique number to access their account and collect points.
How do I earn VIPorter points?
You earn VIPorter points by travelling on eligible flights operated by Porter Airlines, paid in cash or equivalent. The points earned depend on your status level and the amount spent (excluding taxes and fees). Flights paid for entirely in points or certificates do not earn points.
What are the different VIPorter Elite Status levels and how do I earn them?
The levels are:
- Member ($0-1,999.99 spent/year)
- Passport ($2,000-$2,999.99)
- Venture ($3,000-$5,999.99)
- Ascent ($6,000-$9,999.99)
- First ($10,000 and over)
The Elite Status depends on the amount of eligible spending accumulated each calendar year. The more you spend, the faster you move up the levels.
How many VIPorter points can I earn per dollar?
The number of points per dollar spent varies according to VIPorter status:
- Member: 5 points/$
- Passport/Venture: 6 points/$
- Ascent/First: 7 points/$
Do my VIPorter points expire?
VIPorter points do not expire if you make at least one qualifying flight with Porter every 24 months. If you do not fly with Porter for two consecutive years, your points will automatically expire. If you have a BMO VIPorter credit card, your VIPorter points do not expire.
How can I use my VIPorter points for a reservation?
Log in to your account on flyporter.com, use the mobile app or contact the Porter call center. You can pay the base fare of a flight in full or in part with your points, but taxes and fees must be paid separately.
Can I earn points for a loved one's flight or transfer my points?
No. VIPorter points are neither transferable nor cumulative with other accounts. Only the passenger whose name appears on the ticket and whose VIPorter number is associated with the flight can earn points.
What is a PorterReserve certificate?
Frequent flyer members who reach $3,000 in eligible expenses receive a PorterReserve certificate, allowing them to upgrade to a PorterReserve seat. Additional certificates are awarded for each additional $2,000 spent per year.
Can I claim missing points retroactively?
Yes. You can apply for points up to 12 months after your flight, provided you were a VIPorter member at the time of travel. For new members, flights taken up to 30 days before joining can also be taken into account.
