To the point From July 8 to July 17, 2024, Aeroplan is offering a 20% points-back to members who redeem their points for hotel stays or car rentals.

This promotion is part of the 40th anniversary of the Aeroplan program.

Hotels and car rentals: 20% points-back

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Aeroplan is offering an exclusive deal: spend at least 20,000 Aeroplan points on a hotel stay or car rental and earn back 20% of points spent.

This promotion is valid for bookings made between 1 a.m. (ET) on July 4, 2024 and 11:59 p.m. (ET) on July 17, 2024. Members must register for this offer during the same period, before booking. The minimum spend of 20,000 points must be reached in a single transaction.

Stays or rentals must be completed by December 31, 2024. Points will be added to the account within six weeks of the end of the trip.

And don’t forget that the fourth night is free for Aeroplan credit card holders. With the 20% Aeroplan points discount, this offer becomes even more attractive!

How to use the promotion?

Let’s take the example of a four-night stay in Lisbon at the Sofitel hotel. This stay would cost 75,000 Aeroplan points, including all fees and taxes. You will then get 15,000 points back with this offer.

In other words, the stay would cost 60,000 Aeroplan points for four nights in Lisbon, rather than the cash amount of $914.

This equates to a value of approximately 1.5 cents per Aeroplan point in this case. It’s slightly below the 2 cents we value in our half-yearly estimate, but it’s not necessarily a bad deal.

Bottom Line

If you have accumulated a good number of Aeroplan points and would like to book your next hotel stay using points, it would be worthwhile for you to do so between now and July 17, 2024, to get points back to use for future travel.

Don’t forget to register for the Aeroplan 40th Anniversary Contest to be eligible for the offer – it’s a mandatory step!
