Many credit cards offer new cardholders the chance to earn a generous stack of points when they first sign up and meet a spending requirement, and the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite* Card is no different.

2. Strong Earning Rates
Another great aspect of the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite* Card is its strong earning rates on key spending categories.
With this card, you earn 5 BMO Rewards points per $1 spent on groceries, gas, dining, and transit, and 1 BMO Rewards point per $1 spent on all other purchases.
This means that if you spend $1,000 each month across these 4 elevated earning categories, you’d build up your account balance by 5,000 points monthly, netting you at least 60,000 points each year!
That said, with these elevated earning rates, it’s important to note that there are limits to how much you can spend while earning the 5x points:
Specifically, the category spending thresholds are as follows:
- Dining: 5x on the first $6,000 in purchases annually, then 1x per $1 spent
- Groceries: 5x on the first $6,000 in purchases annually, then 1x per $1 spent
- Gas: 5x on the first $20,000 in purchases annually, then 1x per $1 spent
- Transit: 5x on the first $20,000 in purchases annually, then 1x per $1 spent
The BMO eclipse Visa Infinite* Card also has the added opportunity to earn 10% more points on all purchases when you add an authorized user to your account, giving you even more ways to earn.
3. Flexible Redemption Options
Once you’ve earned a handful of BMO Rewards points (which won’t be difficult given the welcome offers and earning rates mentioned above!), then you get to enjoy the multiple different redemption options available through the BMO Rewards program.
Through this program, you can use your account balance in the following ways:
- Pay with Points (non-travel expenses): Use your points to cover daily expenses like groceries, gas, clothing, and more, at a rate of 200 points = $1.
- Pay with Points (travel expenses): BMO Rewards points can be redeemed for eligible travel expenses made on the card at a rate of 150 points = $1.
- Merchandise: Save on select merchandise through the BMO Rewards portal. The available value varies, but we’ve seen redemptions for a rate of around 200 points = $1.
- Gift cards: Redeem your points for gift cards to use with some of your favourite merchants. For example, you can exchange 23,000 points for a $100 gift card to select retailers.
- Savings and investments: Build up your eligible savings and investment accounts at a rate of 15,000 = $100.
4. $50 Annual Lifestyle Credit
As a BMO eclipse Visa Infinite* cardholder, you also get to enjoy an annual $50 Lifestyle Credit to use any way you like.
One of our favourite things about this credit is that it’s incredibly easy to access. Rather than having to make a specific type of purchase, the credit will actually just appear on your statement within two statement cycles after you make a single purchase that’s over $50.
No need to spend in a certain category or by a certain date. Just make a purchase that’s $50+ and you’ll see the credit on your account not long after.
5. $20 Monthly Streaming Credit
Another fantastic way that the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite* Card saves you money is with its $20 monthly streaming credits during your first year.
These credits will be automatically added to your statement each month throughout the first year, as long as you have an eligible media bill of $20 or more.
This means that you can save up to $240 in your first year on streaming subscriptions like Netflix, Crave, Disney+, and more, making access to entertainment more affordable!
