RBC Avion Promotion: 15% Transfer Bonus to AAdvantage

RBC Avion Promotion: 15% Transfer Bonus to AAdvantage
Share

From August 4, 2026 (12:00 AM ET) to September 3, 2026 (11:59 PM ET), Avion Elite members can get a 15% bonus for converting their RBC Avion points to AAdvantage. While we are used to seeing this type of promotion for WestJet Rewards or British Airways Executive Club, it only happens once a year for the American Airlines AAdvantage program.

You must convert a minimum of 5,000 Avion points into AAdvantage miles. This promotion is reserved for Avion Elite members, meaning holders of an RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card, RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege Card, RBC Avion Visa Platinum, or an eligible Business Avion card, paired with an active AAdvantage account.

Thus, for 10,000 RBC Avion points, you will get 8,050 AAdvantage miles. The regular conversion rate is 100 Avion points for 70 AAdvantage miles. With this promotion, you will get 80.5 AAdvantage miles per 100 Avion points. This is a very good conversion promotion between RBC Avion Rewards and American Airlines AAdvantage.

For example, by exchanging 35,000 points earned with the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card, you can get 28,175 AAdvantage miles.

Here is a complete guide to transferring your RBC Avion points to other airline programs:

How to take advantage?

This point transfer bonus can be useful if you want to book a reward flight on American Airlines but also on its airline partners. The airline is part of the oneworld alliance, and you can view its full list of airline partners here.

As a reminder, RBC Avion points can be transferred to many programs: British Airways Executive Club (Avios which can also be used with Qatar Airways Privilege Club), WestJet Rewards, and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles.

The only other way to accumulate points transferable to AAdvantage in Canada with credit cards and everyday purchases is with Marriott Bonvoy credit cards. Your points accumulated in your Marriott Bonvoy account can be transferred at a 3:1 ratio to American Airlines AAdvantage. It is therefore possible to combine your Avion point accumulation with your Marriott Bonvoy points in a strategy aimed at obtaining a large quantity of AAdvantage miles for a specific trip.

Is it worth it?

This conversion bonus can therefore be useful if you have specific flights to book on American Airlines, or if you travel frequently with this airline.

Regarding flights on airline partners, it is worth doing research and reward flight simulations before converting your points, to see if it is more advantageous to transfer them to American Airlines AAdvantage or Avios from the British Airways Executive Club for example, since both airlines operate under the oneworld alliance.

It’s up to you to see, based on your travel plans and goals, if this transfer bonus is advantageous. Remember that the conversion is irreversible; once the points are transferred to one of these programs, they will stay there until they are used!

Conclusion

If you have RBC Avion points and a travel project with American Airlines, now is the time to make your point transfer! Combined with the welcome offer from the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege Card, this can help you reach your goals for very low-cost flights.

On the other hand, if you have no travel plans, it would be wiser to keep your points in the RBC Avion Rewards program.
