Atmos Rewards in Canada: How to Earn and Use Your Points

Atmos Rewards lets you fly on points with Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and more than 30 partner airlines, even from Canada. No Canadian credit card earns Atmos points directly: you build your balance by flying Porter, transferring Marriott Bonvoy points or buying points during a promotion. We explain how, and where those points go furthest.

Alaska Airlines launched Atmos Rewards in August 2025 by merging its Mileage Plan with HawaiianMiles. Your points never expire, and you can use them to reach more than 1,100 destinations through the oneworld alliance and Alaska's partners, including Porter, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines and Icelandair. All the official program details, including our point valuation, are in our Atmos Rewards program page.
You have four ways to earn Atmos points from Canada. The most profitable one depends on what you already have: Marriott Bonvoy points, upcoming Porter flights or a specific award in mind.
No Canadian card carries the Atmos name, but the Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card is your most direct way in: the Bonvoy points it earns you transfer to Atmos at the ratio above. Click the card name to see its current welcome offer.
You reach the first tier, Atmos Silver, at 20,000 status points, and each tier gives you the matching oneworld status. From 10,000 status points, you already pick your first milestone reward.
| Atmos Rewards Tier | Replaces | Oneworld status | 2026 Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Atmos Silver | MVP | Ruby | 20,000 status points (unchanged) |
| Atmos Gold | MVP Gold | Sapphire | 40,000 status points (unchanged) |
| Atmos Platinum | MVP Gold 75K | Emerald | 80,000 status points (up from 75,000) |
| Atmos Titanium | MVP Gold 100K | Emerald | 135,000 status points (up from 100,000) |
Since October 1, 2026, you choose how your flights earn points and status points. Your choice applies to flights departing on or after January 1, 2027:
You can switch methods once per calendar year. On a flight under 500 miles, earning by segment gets you more than distance; on a long-haul flight, it's the other way around.
Since October 1, 2026, you can join one of six Atmos Communities for free. Each one gives you its own offers and a destinations challenge worth up to 10,000 bonus points. For a Canadian member, Global Locals is the most natural choice:
Your Atmos points open up flights on Alaska, Hawaiian and more than 30 partners, including Porter out of Toronto, to over 1,100 destinations. The points price depends on distance, departure zone and demand. On top of that, Atmos allows a free stopover on most one-way awards: two cities for the price of one. Keep these three points in mind:
Every month, Atmos Rewards cuts the points price of economy awards to six destinations by up to 50%. Alaska reveals the list on Atmos Members Day, the first Wednesday of the month. You then have only a few days to book.
Alaska's terms cover flights to or from the United States. However, the discounted price also shows up for departures from Toronto or Montreal in Alaska's booking engine, according to Rewards Canada. Seats at that price are scarce out of Canada, so we recommend you compare with a departure from Seattle, Boston or New York.
| Destination | Starting price (one-way) |
|---|---|
| Seoul (South Korea) | 20,000 points |
| Helsinki (Finland) | 25,000 points |
| Munich (Germany) | 25,000 points |
| Paris (France) | 25,000 points |
| Sapporo (Japan) | 30,000 points |
| Stavanger (Norway) | 30,000 points |
The two programs work well together. With VIPorter, you redeem your points for itineraries that include Alaska Airlines flights, booked on Porter's website. With Atmos, you also get the global partners and Global Getaways. If you hold the BMO VIPorter World Elite Mastercard, keep your VIPorter points for the U.S. West Coast and use your Atmos points for Europe or Asia. Keep in mind that a Porter flight credits only one program at a time.
Atmos Rewards is one of the most useful foreign programs for a Canadian traveller who already holds Marriott Bonvoy points or flies Porter. Your points never expire, Global Getaways cut some awards by up to 50% every month, and the partners open up Asia, the Pacific and Europe.
Its limits are clear. No Canadian card earns Atmos points directly, seats at the discounted price are scarce out of Canada, and the US$20 fee per direction applies to every partner award.
