AMI BIXI x Wealthsimple Program: 4 Ways to Earn

BIXI Montreal has just enhanced its AMI BIXI rewards program through a new partnership with Wealthsimple. Since May 1, 2026, each BIXI ride can now offer much more than just an eco-friendly trip: entries into a draw that could exceed $100,000, free electric BIXI rides, cash back, and enhanced cash back on Wealthsimple Visa Infinite cards.
Suffice it to say, this program is part of Wealthsimple’s expansion strategy, which is multiplying partnerships to reward its users. Here’s how to activate the four ways to earn and maximize your rewards this season.
AMI BIXI is not new. The program already existed to reward BIXI users who help balance the network. But with Wealthsimple joining as a partner, it’s expanding with four distinct ways to accumulate rewards.
Note: these four ways are cumulative. A single ride can therefore generate several rewards simultaneously, making the program particularly attractive for regular users.
The first way to earn: simply ride. For every 100 rides collectively completed by all BIXI users between May 1 and October 31, 2026, Wealthsimple adds $1 to the AMI BIXI Grand Prize pool.
The guaranteed minimum amount is $100,000, with a cap of $150,000. At the end of the season, a single BIXI user will win the entire prize pool. That shows the magnitude of the prize!
Good news: eligible rides taken since May 1, 2026, will be automatically converted into entries when you register. So you don’t lose anything if you register during the season.
To be eligible for the draw, you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident in Canada, legally reside in Canada, and have reached the age of majority in your province or territory. Employees of BIXI, Wealthsimple, and their immediate families are excluded.
Please note: if you win, you must have a Wealthsimple account to receive the prize. If you do not have one, you will have 30 days to open one. Otherwise, the prize will be awarded to another winner. If you are still unsure, consult our analysis to find out if Wealthsimple is reliable.
The second way to earn: help balance the BIXI network. This is a classic feature of the program, but with an enhanced reward.
The principle is simple. You take a bike from a full station or return a bike to an empty station. Each station in need earns 1 to 4 points depending on the urgency. The greater the need, the higher the number of points.
As soon as you accumulate 10 points in the month, you automatically receive an email with a code for a free 45-minute electric BIXI ride. You can accumulate up to 40 points per month, for a maximum of 4 free rides.
Please note that the monthly counter is reset on the first day of each month. For rides exceeding 45 minutes, your subscription’s per-minute rate ($0.19/minute) applies for the excess time.

The third way to earn, and probably the most generous for new clients: open a Wealthsimple account. For each of your next 200 BIXI rides, you will receive $1 cash back directly into your Wealthsimple account, for up to $200 in rewards.
Please note: rides only start counting from the first day of the calendar month when your BIXI account is registered AND your Wealthsimple account is created and funded. Rides taken before that month are lost. This is why it is essential to transfer at least $1 as soon as you open your account.

The fourth way to earn, and probably the most interesting for heavy users: pay for your rides with a Wealthsimple Visa Infinite credit card. This card offers an enhanced 18% cash back, which is added to the basic 2%, for a total of 20% on your BIXI usage fees.
Yes, you read that right: 20% cash back on your rides. This is undoubtedly the most generous cash back enhancement offered in the active transportation segment in Canada.

| Way to Earn | Award | Key Conditions | Cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ride | Entries into the Grand Prize draw ($100,000 to $150,000) | BIXI account + form registration | No limit on entries |
| Balance | Free electric BIXI rides (45 min) | Active seasonal or monthly subscription | 4 free rides per month |
| Join Wealthsimple | $1 cash back per ride | New Wealthsimple clients only | $200 per person |
| Pay with Wealthsimple card | 20% cash back (2% + 18% enhanced) | Wealthsimple Visa Infinite card on BIXI account | No specific cap |
This new AMI BIXI x Wealthsimple partnership is part of a coherent strategy. Wealthsimple is increasing benefits for its users, as seen recently with the new benefits of Advantage and Generation accounts and the redesign of the Wealthsimple checking account.
For a BIXI user who is not yet a Wealthsimple client, combining the four ways to earn can be very significant over a full season. Imagine 200 rides taken between May and October:
I strongly recommend filling out the registration form now, even if you only use BIXI occasionally. Registration is free and requires no purchase. You can consult our complete list of the best credit cards in Canada to compare options.
And if you’re shopping for tax filing, know that Wealthsimple also offers Wealthsimple Tax, which complements the ecosystem well.
The AMI BIXI x Wealthsimple partnership represents one of the most generous rewards programs ever offered for a bike-sharing service in Canada. With a guaranteed grand prize of at least $100,000, up to $200 cash back for new Wealthsimple clients, free electric BIXI rides, and 20% cash back, BIXI users have four additional reasons to pedal this summer.
Don’t miss the opportunity to combine all four ways to earn. The 2026 BIXI season promises to be particularly profitable for those who take the time to register correctly.
The program covers the 2026 BIXI season, from May 1 to October 31, 2026. The Grand Prize draw will take place on November 2, 2026.
The guaranteed minimum amount is $100,000 Canadian. The maximum amount is capped at $150,000. Wealthsimple adds $1 to the prize pool for every 100 rides collectively completed.
No. This offer is exclusively reserved for individuals who did not have a funded Wealthsimple account at the time of registration, or who funded their account within 30 days prior to registration. Long-standing clients are not eligible for this way to earn.
By adding a Wealthsimple Visa Infinite, Visa Infinite +, or Visa Infinite Privilege card to your BIXI account, you get an enhanced 18% cash back, which is added to the basic 2%, for a total of 20% on unlock fees and per-minute usage fees. Seasonal or monthly subscription fees only benefit from the usual 2% cash back.
You can accumulate up to 40 points per month, for a maximum of 4 free 45-minute electric BIXI rides. The counter is reset on the first day of each month.
For the Grand Prize draw, yes: eligible rides taken since May 1, 2026, are automatically converted into entries when you register. For the $1 per ride cash back, no: rides are only counted from the first day of the calendar month when your BIXI account is registered AND your Wealthsimple account is created and funded.
Not to participate, but yes to receive the prize. If you win and do not have a Wealthsimple account, you will have 30 days to open one. Otherwise, the prize will be awarded to another BIXI user through a new draw.
Cash back is paid on the 15th day of the month following the relevant ride period. For example, rides taken in July will be credited to your Wealthsimple account on August 15.
Yes, all four ways are fully cumulative. A single ride can generate an entry into the draw, Balance points (if the station is in need), $1 cash back (if you are a new Wealthsimple client), and 20% cash back (if you pay with a Wealthsimple Visa Infinite card).
