The Wealthsimple credit card now exists in three versions in Canada: the Visa Infinite 1% (no fee, beta version), the Visa Infinite + (2% cash back), and the Visa Infinite Privilege. All three Wealthsimple credit cards offer simple cash back on all purchases, with no categories or caps.
Accessible to eligible Wealthsimple clients, this range integrates into the company’s ecosystem, including the chequing account and the investment platform. Depending on your status, annual fees may be waived, and the application is done entirely online.
But are these cards among the best cash back credit cards in Canada? And more importantly, which one should you choose based on your profile? Here is our full review.
Wealthsimple now offers three Visa Infinite credit cards, in addition to its prepaid Mastercard. Here is a quick overview to situate each option before diving into the details.
In June 2026, Wealthsimple added a third credit card to its lineup: the Visa Infinite 1% card. It carries the Visa Infinite name, but its operation differs from the 2% Visa Infinite +. For now, Wealthsimple is offering it only to invited clients, in beta, and without a waitlist.
This card targets a specific profile: those who want a Visa Infinite card with no annual fees and who accept a more modest base cash back rate. In exchange, it lets the cardholder build their own insurance coverage.
Wealthsimple invites selected clients to try the card. To be eligible, you must generally meet one of the following criteria:
The main feature of the Visa Infinite 1% card: you customize your protections. At the time of application, you select 3 benefits from the list below. However, your choices remain locked for 12 months and you cannot change them after the application.
Additionally, two protections remain included by default, regardless of your choices: purchase security (up to $1,000 per claim, maximum $10,000) and extended warranty, which doubles the manufacturer’s repair period up to one year.
In addition to your 3 choices, the card provides access to the usual Visa Infinite privileges: the Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection, 24/7 concierge, the Visa Infinite Dining Series, the Wine Country program, and Booking.com benefits of up to 8% in travel credits.
The Visa Infinite 1% card is not yet open to everyone. To follow its rollout and compare the entire range, consult our Wealthsimple credit card comparison.
The Wealthsimple Visa Infinite + Card and the Visa Infinite Privilege are aimed at those looking for a simple and consistent 2% cash back, with no categories or restrictions.
To be eligible, you must:
The application is made entirely via the Wealthsimple app. A waiting list may apply.
Monthly fees are $20, billed annually for Quebec residents. However, they may be waived if you are an Advantage or Generation client, or if you have an eligible direct payroll deposit.
Here are the elements that distinguish the Wealthsimple Visa Infinite + Card and influence its profitability:
The Wealthsimple Visa Infinite + Card stands out for its simplicity and 2% cash back on all purchases, with no categories or caps. You earn the same cash back on your daily expenses, travel, and international purchases, which simplifies reward management.
It charges no foreign currency conversion fees, a significant advantage for Canadians who travel regularly.
The card also includes comprehensive travel insurance: trip cancellation or interruption, delayed or lost baggage, and emergency medical coverage. The maximum coverage differs by version: $1M for the Visa Infinite + and $2M for the Visa Infinite Privilege, which illustrates the main difference between the two cards (Wealthsimple Infinite + vs. Infinite Privilege).
As a Visa Infinite card, it offers access to complimentary concierge service, exclusive offers at partner hotels and restaurants, and other premium privileges. Learn more in our guide to Visa Infinite Benefits.
Finally, if you hold a premium Wealthsimple account (Advantage or Generation status) or set up an eligible direct payroll deposit, your annual fees may be fully waived, making this card very competitive in Canada.
Both cards offer unlimited 2% cash back on all purchases and 0% foreign exchange fees. However, the Wealthsimple Visa Infinite Privilege Card offers more comprehensive insurance for frequent travelers.
While Wealthsimple credit cards offer solid benefits, some aspects deserve your attention.
Despite these points, the range remains attractive for those seeking simple and consistent cash back on all purchases, as well as centralized management within the Wealthsimple digital ecosystem.
If the Wealthsimple Visa Infinite Card does not perfectly meet your needs, several other options can be considered in Canada.
If you are looking for a credit card offering good cashback by category, several options stand out:
For travelers, cards with no foreign currency conversion fees are very advantageous. On this topic, read our comparison between the Wealthsimple Visa Infinite + and the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite +:
The Wealthsimple Visa Infinite Card stands out for its simplicity: cash back on all purchases, with no categories and no cap, and no conversion fees. For travelers and foreign currency shoppers, this advantage alone can represent significant annual savings.
The range now covers three profiles. The new Visa Infinite 1% targets those who want a no-fee Visa Infinite card. The Visa Infinite + doubles the cash back to 2% and includes travel insurance. Finally, the Visa Infinite Privilege adds enhanced protections and high-end benefits.
Thus, if you are already a Wealthsimple client or wish to centralize your finances within a digital ecosystem, these cards can be particularly attractive. Furthermore, the potential waiver of annual fees depending on your status enhances their competitiveness.
In summary, Wealthsimple credit cards are simple, effective, and competitive in Canada. Your choice will mainly depend on your traveler profile, your fee tolerance, and your relationship with Wealthsimple. To follow the evolution of the beta version and our analyses, subscribe to our newsletter.
