WestJet Rewards Tier Status

The WestJet Rewards loyalty program is free for anyone to join. To get yourself registered, simply head to the WestJet website and fill in the necessary information.

When you first sign up for a WestJet Rewards membership, you’ll begin your journey at the Teal membership level. From there, you can work your way up to the program’s three higher tier status levels: Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

Status Tiers

As a Teal member, you don’t really get anything in terms of benefits, but once you start moving up the ranks, the perks start to roll in.

Teal members earn 1 WestJet point per $1 spent on WestJet flights, seat selection, baggage, upgrades, and on WestJet Vacation packages. Members can also earn WestJet points on partner airlines, WestJet eStore purchases, and other partnered retailers and organizations.

Beyond the initial Teal member level, each of the three WestJet status tiers comes with a increasingly valuable set of perks and benefits that can not only help you save money but can also make your trip a great deal more pleasant.

Silver

The WestJet tier status level where the perks really start to pick up is Silver. When you become a Silver status member, you earn 3 WestJet points per $1 spent on eligible WestJet expenses, and you can enjoy the following:

• 2 free checked bags
• 4 seat selection vouchers (eligible for Standard seats)
• 6 lounge vouchers (eligible for WestJet and partner lounges)
• Priority check-in
• Priority boarding (Zone 2)

Gold

The next step of the WestJet tier status ladder is Gold. As a WestJet Gold status member, you’ll earn 5 WestJet points per $1 spent on eligible WestJet purchases, plus you get the following perks and benefits:

• 6 seat selection vouchers (includes Extended Comfort seats)
• Unlimited lounge access with family privileges
• 2 transferable lounge access guest vouchers
• Priority check-in
• Priority boarding (Zone 2)
• Free onboard Wi-Fi

• No fee for same-day flight change
• Early access to purchase an upgrade
• Complimentary upgrades prior to check-in (high priority)

Platinum

At WestJet Rewards highest tier status level of Platinum, your earning rate goes up to 8 WestJet points per $1 spent on eligible WestJet purchases, and your associated benefits expand even further!

As a Platinum status member, you’ll enjoy the following:

• 3 free checked bags
• Unlimited seat selection, plus 6 transferable guest vouchers (includes Extended Comfort seats)
• Unlimited WestJet and partners airport lounge access with family privileges
• 2 transferable lounge access guest vouchers
• Priority check-in
• Priority boarding (Zone 1)
• Free onboard Wi-Fi
• Priority security screening
• Priority customer support number
• No fee for same-day flight change
• Early access to purchase an upgrade
• Complimentary upgrades prior to check-in (highest priority)
• Complimentary upgrades at the gate (highest priority)

Reciprocal Benefits with Delta Air Lines

Another perk of having a higher WestJet tier status is the benefits you can enjoy when you book with Delta Air Lines.

Thanks to the reciprocal agreement between WestJet and Delta Air Lines, WestJet Silver, Gold, and Platinum status members can enjoy the following benefits when they fly with Delta and enter their WestJet Rewards ID during the booking process:

• Complimentary preferred seats
• 2 free checked bags for Silver and Gold members, 3 for Platinum members
• Priority check-in
• Priority bag drop-off
• Priority baggage handling
• Priority security line access
• Delta Sky Club^® access
• Priority boarding (Zone 5 for Silver and Gold, Zone 4 for Platinum)

Milestone Rewards

In addition to the perks and benefits related to each WestJet status tier mentioned above, as a WestJet status member, you’ll get to choose from select Milestone Rewards at a handful of spending thresholds.

As of 2025 (when the WestJet Rewards program changed), Milestone Rewards are awarded at the following spending thresholds:

• $2,000 – Choose from either 2,000 WestJet points, $200 in tier qualifying spend, or a $25 Skip the Dishes gift card
• $8,000 – Choose from either 20,000 WestJet points, $500 in tier qualifying spend, a WestJet-wide companion voucher, or 4 seat selection vouchers
• $12,000 – Choose from either 10,000 WestJet points, $1,000 in tier qualifying spend, a WestJet-wide companion voucher, or the ability to gift someone WestJet Gold status for a year
• $16,000 – Choose from either 10,000 WestJet points, 40% off any Premium fare, $250 off a WestJet or Sunwing Vacation package, or Champs Vintage II hardside carry-on luggage
• $20,000 – Choose from either 10,000 WestJet points, a transferable WestJet-wide companion voucher, 4 transferable seat selection vouchers, or a De'Longhi Dedica Duo espresso machine
• $30,000 – Choose from either 25,000 WestJet points, $500 off a WestJet or Sunwing Vacation package, the ability to gift WestJet Gold status for a year, or a House of Marley Revolution turntable
• $40,000 – Choose from either 25,000 WestJet points, 40% off any business class fare, 8 transferable lounge passes, or Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones
• $50,000 – Choose from either 25,000 WestJet points, a transferable WestJet-wide companion voucher, $1,000 gift card for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, or tickets to watch the Toronto Blue Jays from WestJet's executive suite

Once you qualify for a Milestone Reward, you have one year to make your choice. If you fail to choose within that time, you’ll be awarded the WestJet points option by default.

Earning WestJet Tier Status

To earn your way to the higher WestJet status tiers, you need to meet the tier qualifying spending thresholds for each tier within the calendar year.

The spending thresholds are as follows:

• Silver – $4,000 to $5,999
• Gold –$6,000 to $9,999
• Platinum – $10,000+

Once you meet the spending requirement for a tier, you will immediately have access to all the associated perks and benefits that we listed above. You also get to enjoy that tier for the rest of calendar year and the full calendar year following.

As an example of this in action, if you were to surpass the $4,000 threshold in qualifying spend on August 20, 2025, you would immediately become a Silver status member and keep this Silver status until December 31, 2026.

You can meet these spending thresholds by spending on eligible WestJet purchases (more on this in the next section) and/or by using the WestJet Status Lift feature offered through the WestJet RBC^® World Elite Mastercard.

Tier Qualifying Spending

As you work your way up the WestJet status tiers, the following expenses count toward your tier qualifying spend:

• WestJet-marketed flights (100% of the base fare)
• Eligible WestJet Vacations packages
• Eligible Sunwing Vacations packages, for travel completed on or after September 9, 2026
• Cabin upgrades
• Seat selection fee
• Checked baggage fee

Keep in mind that in order to count as tier qualifying spend, your flight must be a WestJet-marketed flights, with the flight code beginning with WS (which is WestJet’s airline identifier). You can still earn tier qualifying spend with WestJet’s partner airlines, you just have to ensure that WestJet is the marketing carrier.

For an eligible WestJet Vacations or Sunwing Vacations package, 20% of your share of the base price (excluding taxes and fees) counts toward tier and milestone qualifying spend. For example, a $1,100 share before taxes adds $220. It's credited once travel is completed.

WestJet Status Lift

WestJet Status Lift is a feature available with the WestJet RBC^® World Elite Mastercard, and it can help you reach WestJet tier status faster.

As a WestJet RBC^® World Elite Mastercard holder, you’ll get $200 in WestJet tier qualifying spend for every $5,000 you spend on the card.

You can get up to 50 Status Lifts per calendar year. Interestingly, this means that if you were to spend $250,000 on the WestJet RBC^® World Elite Mastercard in a calendar year, cashing in all 50 available $200 Status Lifts, you would have earned the necessary $10,000 in tier qualifying spend to be a Platinum status member – all without ever setting foot on a plane!

The WestJet RBC^® World Elite Mastercard also offers its cardholders a number of other useful features such as an annual round-trip companion voucher, airport lounge access, free first checked bag, solid travel insurance coverage, and more. The card also lets you earn WestJet points on all your everyday purchases, which you can then redeem for free flights, vacation packages, or for other merchandise and gift cards through the WestJet Rewards eStore.

WestJet also offers similar features in its business card, the WestJet RBC^® World Elite Mastercard for Business, and its most accessible co-branded credit card in the WestJet RBC Mastercard, giving loyal travellers multiple ways to earn WestJet points and enjoy some travel perks.
