Tips for your Luxury Escapes Tour

As you get ready to book your tour with Luxury Escapes, we recommend considering the following tips that can potentially improve your travels and/or save you money.

Watch for special promotions

If you’ve already started looking through Luxury Escapes’ catalogue of tours and cruises, you’ve likely noticed a few special promotions that can add value to your trip.

Depending on the trip you choose, you may be able to snag bonus points with Société, Luxury Escapes’ free loyalty program, deep discounts on promoted tours/cruises, and extra savings and perks via LuxPlus+.

LuxPlus+ is an added VIP membership subscription (CA$229 per year, plus a one-time CA$500 joining fee that Luxury Escapes often waives when you buy an eligible offer) that you can join to access lower prices on select bookings, added benefits like hotel credits and daily breakfast (when available), and priority access to 24/7 customer service.

Use rewards for flights

Since Luxury Escapes’ tours and cruise packages don’t include international airfare (though several itineraries include internal flights between destinations), another key area where you can save is by redeeming reward points to help cover the cost of your flight.

Depending on how long you have to earn points and which loyalty programs you already use, there are a couple of redemption options. If you can collect airline loyalty points like Aeroplan, VIPorter, United MileagePlus, and Flying Blue, these can be incredibly valuable for award flight redemptions.

Another great option is to use rewards points from banks like Scotiabank Scene+, TD Rewards, NBC À la carte, and RBC Avion Rewards. These points can typically be redeemed to book travel directly or to cover specific expenses made on your eligible credit card.

If you don’t yet have a card that earns flexible travel points, the TD First Class Travel^® Visa Infinite* Card is one of the best options to build a balance you can put toward your flights: its offer reaches up to 160,000 TD Rewards Points, and its $139 annual fee is rebated in the first year.

Check out our guide to saving on flights with points to learn how to best access these options.

Choose the right credit card

Another great way to get the most out of your next trip is to choose the right credit card when you book and when you spend abroad.

We recommend paying for your Luxury Escapes tour with a credit card like the American Express Platinum Card^® that earns valuable rewards (in this case Membership Rewards points), provides comprehensive travel insurance to help cover unexpected events, and comes with some exceptional travel perks.

Once you’re abroad and on your adventure, it can also be beneficial to use a credit card like the Scotiabank Passport^® Visa Infinite +* Card that doesn’t charge a fee for foreign currency transactions. This card benefit can immediately save you the usual 2.5% fee that most Canadian credit cards charge when you spend abroad.

The Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite +* Card also earns versatile Scene+ points on all purchases, and includes an impressive 6 complimentary airport lounge passes.

For this type of trip, the American Express Platinum Card^® (already featured in the comparison above) deserves a closer look: unlimited Priority Pass lounge access, a $400 annual travel credit, and Membership Rewards points transferable to several airline and hotel partners, a real asset for a Luxury Escapes tour.

Stay connected

When travelling abroad, it’s also a good idea to consider how you’ll stay connected with your family and friends back home. In this domain, we recommend that you get an eSIM through a reputable supplier like Holafly, Saily, or Airalo.

eSIMs are an easy and reliable way to stay in touch, navigate your new surroundings, get to know more of the local area, and more. You may also want to consider signing up for a VPN service like NordVPN to make sure your data stays safe around the world.

Practice the local language

If you’re heading somewhere that speaks a language other than the one that you speak at home, consider practising some local phrases with an app like Babbel.

Knowing how to say hello, order a coffee, and ask simple questions in the local language is a fantastic way to make friends and enjoy a deeper connection with the areas you visit.

Bottom Line

Luxury Escapes tours and cruises are a fantastic way to explore a new destination or two with minimal stress and lots of fun and relaxation. Regardless of whether you prefer a culinary adventure in Southeast Asia or a historical tour through the European capitals, Luxury Escapes offers a tour for pretty much all travel preferences.
