Wealthsimple currently has two offers open to new sign-ups: Millionaire of the Month and the 1% transfer match. A third offer, the 3% match for Active Traders, closed to new registrations on September 1, 2026. Depending on your situation, you can enter a monthly draw or receive a match on an eligible transfer.
Here is how these Wealthsimple promotions work, what their conditions are and which dates matter.

Wealthsimple promotion – Millionaire of the Month
Millionaire of the Month is a monthly Wealthsimple contest. Each edition has four weekly draws, with the final grand prize the week after. Wealthsimple switched the grand prizes from cash and a car to condo units starting with the September 2026 edition:
Millionaire of the Month – September 2026 grand prizes
Draw
Grand prize
September 3, 2026
The Georgian Condo, approximate value $635,700

The Georgian Condo, approximate value $783,900
September 17, 2026
The Georgian Condo, approximate value $837,200
September 24, 2026
Concord Canada House, approximate value $699,900
October 1, 2026
KING Toronto, approximate value $1,454,990
On top of the five grand prizes come thousands of secondary cash prizes from $3 to $100, plus 30 EQ3 Bird Swivel Chairs (approximate value $1,599) given away each week. You can earn up to 300,000 entries over the September edition.
How do you enter?
To enter, you have to sign up for the contest. Opening and funding a chequing account gives you 500 starting entries.
You can then collect more entries by saving, transferring investments or inviting people you know.
How do you earn entries?
You get, among others:
1 entry per dollar of net deposit, meaning your deposits and transfers minus your withdrawals
1 entry per dollar transferred in from another institution
100,000 entries for an eligible referral
Up to 50,000 entries a day by spinning the in-app coin
Double all of your entries if you receive a direct deposit
An example: you deposit $500 and withdraw $200 during the period. Your net deposit is $300, which is worth 300 entries, or 600 with direct deposit. Your 500 starting entries also become 1,000 in that case.
Entries add up from one weekly draw to the next until the million-dollar draw, then go back to 500 when the following edition starts.
For a referral to count, four conditions apply:
You hold at least $100 in net deposits at the time of the referral;
The person you invite signs up with your link;
They deposit at least $100 within 30 days of signing up;
That deposit falls within the current contest period.
Several account types can feed your entries. Wealthsimple mentions RRSPs, TFSAs, FHSAs, RESPs with the QESI, non-registered accounts and crypto accounts.
Deposits and transfers still have to meet the contest conditions. For example, activity carried out before the eligible period does not count.
When is the next draw?
The current edition started on August 27, 2026 and runs entries until September 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time. The $1M grand-prize draw takes place the next day, October 1.
No purchase is required and a skill-testing question has to be answered. You do need the Wealthsimple app and a chequing account to receive a prize, since cash amounts are deposited straight into it.
Millionaire of the Month is an ongoing contest, and the editions follow each other without a gap: the October edition starts right after the September grand-prize draw, on October 1. Eligible activity that does not make it in time for the current draw automatically rolls into the next edition, as long as you stay enrolled.
Draws take place on Thursdays. Check the app or the website on Thursday evening to see whether you won, and an email confirms any win.
Wealthsimple promotion – 1% transfer match
The 1% transfer match pays a bonus equal to 1% of the value of eligible transfers.
How do you get the 1% match?
You first have to sign up for the promotion. You then have 30 days to start your transfers.
The total amount transferred has to reach at least $25,000. You can combine several transfers to reach that minimum.
How much does the 1% match pay?
The match equals 1% of net eligible transfers. For example:
Amount transferred
Total match
$25,000
$250
$50,000
$500
$100,000
$1,000
$500,000

$1,000,000
$10,000
$2,000,000
$20,000
$5,000,000
$26,000
$10,000,000
$36,000
The 1% rate applies up to $2,000,000, for a $20,000 match. For a sign-up made between July 8 and August 31, 2026, the portion above that amount earns 0.2%, up to $10,000,000 in net funding. The maximum match then reaches $36,000.
Which transfers are eligible?
Transfers have to come from another Canadian investment institution and go into an eligible Wealthsimple account.
Cash deposits, Interac e-Transfers and transfers between your own Wealthsimple accounts are not eligible.
The transfer has to be started within the 30 days following your sign-up. Wealthsimple then allows up to 90 more days after that period for the funds to arrive.
When is the match paid?
The match is paid in 24 equal monthly instalments. You need a Wealthsimple chequing account in good standing to receive them. You can read our guide to the Wealthsimple chequing account for its main features.
For example, a $1,000 match works out to about $41.67 a month for 24 months.
The holding period matters too. As a rule, withdrawal limits apply for 730 days after the end of your qualification period.
Is there an end date?
The promotion conditions show an effective date of May 4, 2026. They set no general end date: your qualification period is calculated individually from your sign-up. One date does matter, August 31, 2026. The enhanced 0.2% treatment on the portion above $2,000,000 only applies to sign-ups made between July 8 and August 31, 2026.
Wealthsimple still reserves the right to change, withdraw or limit the promotion at any time.
Wealthsimple promotion – 3% match for Active Traders
The 3% match for Active Traders was an enhanced version of the transfer match, offered to clients who held Active Trader status. It closed to new registrations on September 1, 2026 — the section below explains how it worked for clients who registered before that date.
Who can get the 3% match?
Registration closed on September 1, 2026. Before that date, clients had to sign up for the promotion and transfer at least $25,000 within 30 days.
You then have to meet the conditions tied to Active Trader status. Wealthsimple states that you need at least 50 stock trades a month to reach it.
How much does the 3% match pay?
The 3% rate applies to net eligible transfers, up to a maximum of $2,000,000. The maximum match therefore reaches $60,000.
Amount transferred
Total match

$500,000
$15,000
$1,000,000
$30,000
$2,000,000
$60,000
How do you get the 3% rate?
The 3% should not be seen as a rate guaranteed for the full 24 months, though.
Your rate depends on the Active Trader status you held in the previous calendar month. If you lose that status, your instalments drop to 1% for the months concerned.
Can you receive 1% and 3%?
No. For a given month, your instalment is either 1% or 3%, never both.
If you hold Active Trader status under the applicable conditions, the rate can rise to 3%. Otherwise, it goes back to 1%.
Someone already signed up for the 1% transfer match can also become eligible for the 3% rate by reaching the required status within the period set out in the conditions.
Is there an end date?
The current conditions show an effective date of June 3, 2026. They set no general end date. As with the 1% transfer match, your qualification period starts when you sign up and runs 30 days.
Wealthsimple can still change or end the promotion under the applicable terms.
Which Wealthsimple promotion should you choose?
The best Wealthsimple promotion depends mostly on your situation.
You have less than $25,000
Millionaire of the Month is probably the most accessible offer. You can collect entries with your deposits, transfers and certain other eligible activity.
You have at least $25,000 to transfer
The 1% transfer match becomes particularly interesting. An eligible $100,000 transfer represents a potential $1,000 match.
You do have to meet the qualification period and the applicable holding period.
You already trade actively
The 3% match for Active Traders closed to new registrations on September 1, 2026. If you already hold that status and registered before the deadline, your rate can still reach 3%; otherwise the 1% transfer match remains your active offer.
The 3% rate does depend on keeping Active Trader status, though.
You are comparing Wealthsimple with another platform
A promotion should not be your only deciding factor. Before transferring a large amount, you can also check whether Wealthsimple is safe and understand the protections offered to clients.
A promotion can be worth several hundred or several thousand dollars. The conditions still have to be met for the match to be paid.
Here are the main things to check:
Sign up before making a transfer;
Meet the $25,000 minimum;
Start your transfers during your qualification period;
Confirm that your accounts are eligible;
Respect the holding rules;
Check the potential tax consequences;
Keep proof of your sign-up and of your transfers.
You should also check whether your current institution charges transfer fees.
Wealthsimple states that it reimburses certain fees when an eligible transfer of at least $25,000 is made in a single transfer.
Depending on the amount transferred, you could also move into another account tier and reach other benefits.
Wealthsimple also has two Visa Infinite credit cards, with high eligibility requirements. Wealthsimple periodically sends an invitation-based welcome offer, by app notification or email, letting eligible cardholders earn up to $500 cash back (5% on the first $10,000 in purchases during the 30 days after approval). Not every applicant receives an invitation: check your Wealthsimple app or email before applying if you're counting on this offer.

Annual Fee Waiver
The Annual Fee (“Fee”) for the Wealthsimple Visa Infinite* or Wealthsimple Visa Infinite Privilege* credit card (“Card”) is $240 and is charged monthly at $20. The monthly fee is charged when the Card is issued (regardless of activation) and is billed to the first statement and once a month thereafter, unless this Fee is waived. Waiving the Fee is a promotional offer (“Fee Waiver Offer”) and requires clients to meet specific criteria to qualify and continue having the Fee waived. The Card Fee is automatically waived for any client with a Premium or Generation status, and the Fee will continue to be waived so long as that status is maintained. The Fee Waiver Offer is also available to Core clients who direct deposit at least $4,000 per month into their Wealthsimple Chequing Account (“Chequing Account”) within the preceding 30-days. Only direct deposits classified by Payments Canada as pre-authorized transactions with transaction codes ranging from 200 to 207, 310, 311, and 318 would be considered eligible. (“Qualifying Deposit”). If a Core client doesn’t make a Qualifying Deposit, or if a Premium or Generation client cannot maintain their status and becomes a Core client without a Qualifying Deposit, the monthly fee of $20 will be added to their next statement and continue to be charged until a Qualifying Deposit is confirmed.
For residents of Quebec: The Quebec Annual Fee (“Annual Fee”) for the Wealthsimple Visa Infinite* or Wealthsimple Visa Infinite Privilege* credit card is $240 and is charged when the Card is issued (regardless of activation) and is billed to the first statement and once a year thereafter. Waiving the Fee is a promotional offer (“Quebec Fee Waiver Offer”) and requires clients to meet specific criteria to qualify. The Annual Fee is automatically waived for any client with Premium or Generation status at the time the Card is issued. If a Core client obtains Premium or Generation status after the Annual Fee has been applied, a prorated refund will be issued for the number of months remaining in the current twelve (12) month period, which starts on the anniversary of the Card issuance date (“Card Year”) from the month eligibility is obtained ($20 per month). The Quebec Fee Waiver Offer is also available to Core clients who direct deposit at least $4,000 per month into their Chequing Account within the 30-days preceding the time the Card is issued. Only direct deposits classified by Payments Canada as pre-authorized transactions with transaction codes ranging from 200 to 207, 310, 311, and 318 would be considered eligible. (“Qualifying Deposit”). If a Core client starts making Qualifying Deposits after the Annual Fee has been applied, a prorated refund will be issued for the number of months remaining in the current Card Year from the month eligibility is obtained ($20 per month).
Credit Card Rewards (Cashback Offer)
The cash back promotional offer (“Cashback Offer”) is valid for new and existing users of the Card. The 2% earn rate, which may be subject to change, applies to purchases, excluding cash-like transactions, refunds, any applicable fees and adjustments (“Qualified Spend”). Cash back credits are earned on Qualified Spend only. You may redeem your cash back as soon as the Qualified Spend transaction is settled or up to 10 years after the Qualified Spend transaction is settled. Cash back can be redeemed directly in the app. Cash back can only be deposited into your Wealthsimple chequing, TFSA, RRSP, or non-registered accounts. There is no minimum amount needed to redeem. If a refund is processed after the Cash back credit is redeemed, the amount will be deducted from your rewards balance.

Are Wealthsimple matches taxable?
Matches can have tax consequences. Wealthsimple states that clients remain responsible for their own tax obligations. For the 1% transfer match and the 3% match for Active Traders, the conditions note that the payments may be taxable.
The tax treatment depends on the account type and on the nature of the payment. If you receive a large match, it can be worth speaking with a tax specialist.
Conclusion
The Wealthsimple promotions running right now can be worthwhile, but they answer different needs.
Millionaire of the Month lets you collect entries for a $1M monthly draw. The 1% transfer match pays up to $20,000 on eligible transfers, and up to $36,000 with the enhanced tier. The 3% match for Active Traders can reach $60,000 for eligible clients.
Before transferring your investments, check the conditions and your qualification period. Above all, do not choose Wealthsimple for a promotion alone. Compare the full set of features, fees and services against your profile.
Wealthsimple is currently running two offers open to new sign-ups: Millionaire of the Month and the 1% transfer match. The 3% match for Active Traders closed to new registrations on September 1, 2026.
What is the minimum for the 1% transfer match?
You have to transfer at least $25,000 in eligible investments during your qualification period.
How much does the 1% transfer match pay?
The match equals 1% of net eligible transfers up to $2,000,000, or $20,000. For a sign-up made by August 31, 2026, the portion above that earns 0.2% up to $10,000,000, for a maximum of $36,000.
How do you get the 3% match for Active Traders?
The 3% match closed to new registrations on September 1, 2026. Clients who registered before that date keep their rate as long as they hold Active Trader status; new registrations are no longer accepted.
Can you receive both the 1% and the 3% match?
No. For a given month, the applicable rate is either 1% or 3%, depending on your eligibility.
Is Millionaire of the Month ending soon?
No. It is an ongoing contest: the September edition ends on September 30, 2026 and the October edition starts right after, on October 1, with no gap between them.
When are the matches paid?
Transfer matches are paid in 24 monthly instalments, subject to the applicable conditions.
