New: Earn and Redeem Aeroplan Points with Emirates

This is major news that takes the partnership between Emirates and Air Canada to another level. In November, the two airlines announced the implementation of a codeshare agreement, suggesting that more news would follow.
We now know that Aeroplan members will be able to earn points when flying with Emirates, and redeem them for Emirates reward flights. The reverse will also be possible; Emirates Skywards members will be able to earn Skywards miles on Air Canada flights worldwide.
But let’s get straight to the point: redeeming Aeroplan points for flights with Emirates!
Redeeming Aeroplan Points with Emirates
Emirates is one of Aeroplan’s Select Partners, alongside United Airlines, Flydubai and Etihad Airways. For these partners, Aeroplan uses dynamic pricing: flight rewards display a « starting at » price that varies with demand. For example, here is the current chart between North America and the Atlantic zone (which includes Dubai, Europe, Africa and the Middle East):
| Distance (in miles) | Economy | Premium Economy | Business | First |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 – 4,000 | Starting at 32,500 pts Median: 40,000 pts | Starting at 50,000 pts Median: 75,300 pts | Starting at 60,000 pts Median: 129,300 pts | Starting at 90,000 pts |
| 4,001 – 6,000 | Starting at 42,500 pts Median: 42,800 pts | Starting at 60,000 pts Median: 84,600 pts | Starting at 75,000 pts Median: 80,000 pts | Starting at 100,000 pts |
| 6,001 – 8,000 | Starting at 55,000 pts Median: 55,000 pts | Starting at 70,000 pts Median: 113,400 pts | Starting at 90,000 pts Median: 123,600 pts | Starting at 120,000 pts |
| 8,001 + | Starting at 70,000 pts Median: 70,000 pts | Starting at 85,000 pts Median: 119,200 pts | Starting at 110,000 pts Median: 112,800 pts | Starting at 130,000 pts |
These amounts are one-way estimates. Medians reflect actual member redemptions with Air Canada and Select Partners. Other Aeroplan airline partners keep a fixed reward chart. You can find the full chart for all zones on the Aeroplan partners page.
You can combine flights with Air Canada, Emirates and all partner airlines in the Aeroplan program. And you can also add a stopover to your itinerary for 5,000 points (all of this online).

Here are the important details to know before redeeming your points:
- First Class rewards require Aeroplan status 35K or higher at the time of redemption, consistent with Emirates Skywards program rules. All passengers in this cabin must also be at least 9 years of age.
So if you have a trip in mind, it might be worthwhile to book a flight reward and not wait too long! You may be able to secure excellent economy or business-class flight rewards.
Here is an example of pricing observed at the launch of the partnership in December 2022, for an Emirates flight between Dubai and Paris:
- 25,000 points in economy class
- 45,000 points in business class
Since then, pricing has moved to the zone-based dynamic chart shown above.

Another example for an Emirates flight between Dubai and Malé in the Maldives:
- 12,500 points in economy class
- 20,000 points in business class
