To the point RBC and Live Nation Canada now let you pay for your event tickets on Ticketmaster.ca with your Avion points. Here is how it works and whether it is worth it.

RBC and Live Nation Canada have just announced something new for holders of Avion points: it is now possible to pay for event tickets on Ticketmaster.ca with your Avion points Ticketmaster. Concerts, festivals, and live events are now accessible directly with your points, with no redemption fees.

This is another way to use your points, beyond travel and shopping. But as always at Milesopedia, the real question is: how much are your points worth with this new option? We explain how it works and share our expert Review.

How paying with points works

Ticketmaster.ca’s “Pay with Points” program is set up in a few steps:

  • Link your accounts: go to avionrewards.com/ticketmaster-ca to connect your Avion Rewards account to your Ticketmaster Canada account.
  • Choose an eligible event: browse shows on Ticketmaster.ca or the Ticketmaster Canada app.
  • Pay with points at checkout: at the time of payment, choose how many points to use, then complete the purchase.

The option to pay with points appears only for eligible events. Verified resale tickets are not eligible: only standard tickets sold directly by Ticketmaster.ca are.

What are your Avion points worth?

This is the key point. The value of an Avion point varies depending on how you use it. To give you real benchmarks, here is what we see:

Redemption typeApproximate value per point
Flights via the RBC redemption chartup to ~2¢
Flexible travel (100 points = $1)~1¢
Pay with Points (everyday purchases)~0.58¢

RBC specifies that the conversion rate for points on Ticketmaster.ca varies depending on the designated Avion account. No single fixed rate is published, and the minimum per transaction is $0.01. In practice, this type of “dollar value” redemption is generally well below the value of a flight.

Should you use this option?

In my opinion, the appeal of this new feature is flexibility, not value. Paying for a show with your points with no fees, and combining with your card if needed, is convenient. But in terms of return, travel remains the best use of Avion points.

  • Practical for orphan points: ideal for using up a small points balance instead of letting it sit unused.
  • No redemption fees: you pay the displayed value, with no surcharge.
  • Total flexibility: cover the full ticket or only part of it.
  • Variable value per point: set according to your Avion account, generally far from the ~2¢ obtained on a flight.
  • Daily cap: maximum of $500 in points per day.
  • Resale tickets excluded: only standard tickets sold by Ticketmaster.ca are eligible.

Eligibility and terms

All Avion Rewards members can participate, but a few conditions apply. You must have an eligible Avion Rewards account with RBC, have a Ticketmaster.ca account, link the two accounts, and accept the program terms. The full list of eligible accounts and the terms can be found at avionrewards.com/ticketmaster-ca/terms.

This integration adds to RBC’s music initiatives, including the RBCxMusic platform and the RBC Amphitheatre, inaugurated on May 21, 2026 with Imagine Dragons. Also note: each ticket purchased through RBCxMusic gives you $20 in Concert Cash to use on a future show.

Conclusion

Paying for your event tickets with Avion points is a good flexible option, especially for using up a points balance when you have no travel plans. To get the most out of your points, travel remains the best choice. Before confirming a purchase, always compare the points value with that of an equivalent flight.
