Card Advantages
No annual fee
One of the most notable things about the PC® World Elite® Mastercard® is the fact that it has no annual fee, which is quite impressive for a premium rewards credit card.
We also love that you get to easily apply for all three no-annual-fee Mastercards at the same time, with PC Financial approving you for whichever one your eligibility allows.
Additionally, the PC® World Elite® Mastercard® sometime comes with a nice welcome offer. These bonuses are great for getting you started on the PC Optimum-earning journey, and making the card all the more enticing.
Strong earning rates
Probably the top reason most people will choose the PC® World Elite® Mastercard® is that it lets you earn PC Optimum points on top of the points that you already earn at participating merchants.
You also earn 10 points per $1 on all other purchases, making earning points easier than ever.
30 points per $1 spent at eligible Loblaws-brand grocery stores
45 points per $1 spent at Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix
30 points per $1 spent at Joe Fresh
At least 30 points per litre of gas at Esso and Mobil
10 points per $1 spent everywhere else
Just keep in mind that these rates include the base points that you earn as a general PC Optimum member.
For example, if you buy something at Shoppers Drug Mart with your PC® World Elite® Mastercard®, you’ll earn points two ways. You’ll earn the standard PC Optimum member rate of 15 points per $1 spent, PLUS you’ll earn an additional 30 points per $1 spent from your credit card.
The PC Optimum points that you earn with your PC® World Elite® Mastercard® are also incredibly easy to redeem. Thanks to their flexibility, you can save money a few different ways.
Groceries: Save on your shopping at Loblaws-brand stores like Maxi, Provigo, No Frills, Loblaws, Fortinos, and more. Keep your budget under control with a redemption rate 10,000 points = $10.
Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix: Redeem your points for savings on household items, beauty supplies, and more. Enjoy a redemption rate of 10,000 points = $10.
Esso and Mobil: Exchange 4,000 points for $0.10 off per whole litre of gas (up to 40 litres). Alternatively, redeem 10,000 points for a car wash of your choice.
Joe Fresh: Freshen up your wardrobe with new clothes and accessories. Redeem your points at a rate of 10,000 points = $10.
Statement credit: Pay down your credit card bill at a rate of 10,000 points = $7.
A couple additional advantages to the PC® World Elite® Mastercard® are the extra perks and benefits that help you keep your purchases, your identity, and yourself safe.
First, the card offers purchase assurance and extended warranty to cover you in the case of a mishap with an eligible purchase.
Next, as a cardholder, you’ll have access to Mastercard Global Services and Identity Theft Services. Both these features can help navigate a lost/stolen card and issues related to suspected identity theft.
Additionally, you can enjoy Concierge Services that are designed to help you make reservations, seek medical assistance, help with emergency cash, and more.
Letting you earn up to 4.5% back in points for no annual fee, this card is perfect for helping you save on groceries, gas, and everyday essentials.
We also like that the card comes with a few solid perks to help round out its utility. Having access to travel insurance and car rental insurance for zero annual fee is pretty great!
Finally, we love that PC Financial makes it easy to apply for its trio of no-annual-fee cards. With just one application, you’ll be matched with whichever card you’re eligible for, and you’ll be set up to maximize your PC Optimum points earning.
Bottom Line
The PC® World Elite® Mastercard® is a good credit card choice for fans of the PC Optimum program or for anyone who frequently shops at Loblaws-brand grocery stores and Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix and would like to save money on essentials.
In general, the PC Financial Mastercards are all strong rewards earners, and we love that you get to apply for all three no-annual-fee cards at once. This way if you don’t meet the eligibility for the PC® World Elite® Mastercard®, you’ll be automatically informed if you are eligible for either the PC® World Mastercard® or the PC® Mastercard®instead.
