Shoppers Drug Mart Redemption Event: Up to $150 Extra
Loading article…
Shoppers Drug Mart is holding a PC Optimum bonus redemption event until October 7, 2026. Until then, your points are worth up to $150 more than usual, for a maximum discount of $500 on a single transaction.
Outside promotions, the rule is simple: 10,000 PC Optimum points give you $10 off. During the event, the same amount is worth up to $15. The offer applies both in-store and online.
How much are your points worth during the event?
Four redemption tiers are available. Each provides a fixed discount, and the value per point rises with the tier you choose. Here is the full breakdown:
| Points redeemed | Discount received | Added value | Value per 10,000 points | Bonus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50,000 | $65 | +$15 | $13 | +30% |
| 100,000 | $140 | +$40 | $14 | +40% |
| 200,000 | $300 | +$100 | $15 | +50% |
| 350,000 | $500 | +$150 | $14.29 | +43% |
Which PC Optimum cards should you use?
A bonus redemption event rewards people who have built up a balance. The fastest way to earn at Shoppers Drug Mart is still a PC Financial® credit card, since it adds PC Optimum points on top of those earned through the program. Here are the earning rates at the drugstore:
| Card | Points per dollar at the drugstore | Points per dollar at grocery stores | Annual fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| PC World Elite® Mastercard® | 45 | 30 | $0 |
| PC World Mastercard® | 35 | 20 | $0 |
| PC Mastercard® | 25 | 10 | $0 |
In practical terms, 45 points per dollar represents a 4.5% return at the regular redemption rate. During a bonus redemption event offering $15 per 10,000 points, the same purchase is worth 6.75%. The redemption bonus therefore multiplies the value of everything you have earned throughout the year.

How to maximize the event
The discount is appealing, but it does not make up for an inflated price. Keep these habits in mind:
- Aim for the 200,000-point tier: it offers the best return, at $15 per 10,000 points.
- Combine it with flyer deals: regular drugstore prices are often higher than elsewhere, so focus on sale items.
- Pay the balance with a PC card: the portion paid in cash continues to earn points, up to 45 per dollar.
- Prepare your cart in advance: sunscreen, beauty products and household items are among the most common summer purchases.
Terms to know
Some conditions apply to each edition of the event. The minimum purchase requirement, in particular, catches many readers off guard:
- Redemptions are made in increments of 10,000 points, up to a maximum of 500,000 points.
- Your purchase must total at least the discount amount; otherwise, the full tier does not apply.
- Taxes are calculated on the price before points are applied.
- Prescription drugs, tobacco, stamps and transit tickets remain excluded.
- The event ends on October 7, 2026. Check the full terms on pcoptimum.ca before your visit.
Should you redeem now?
Yes, if you were already planning to shop at Shoppers Drug Mart. Redeeming at $15 per 10,000 points is significantly better than the regular $10 value. However, the selection of competitively priced products has narrowed over the years, particularly in electronics.
On the other hand, if you do not need anything, there is no rush. Your points do not expire as long as your account remains active. Bonus redemption events generally return several times a year.
Conclusion
The Shoppers Drug Mart bonus redemption event, running until October 7, 2026, increases the value of PC Optimum points to as much as $15 per 10,000 points. The 200,000-point tier offers the best return, while the 350,000-point tier gives the largest dollar discount.
To earn faster before the next event, a PC Optimum credit card remains the most effective option at the drugstore. Finally, subscribe to our newsletter to hear when the next event is announced.
