The More Rewards loyalty program lets you earn points at over 700 merchant locations across Western Canada, including at popular grocery store chains.
Once you’ve got some points accumulated, you can then redeem them for free groceries, gift cards, local experiences, travel, and more!
In this article, we go over the best ways to earn and redeem your More Rewards points, so that you can get the most out of this program.
The More Rewards program makes it easy to earn points a few different ways.
To get your rewards journey started, you just need to sign up for a More Rewards account to get a More Rewards ID, add your points card to your digital wallet, and then start racking up the points.
If you’re a little more old-school and want to use a physical card, you can always pick one up at a participating grocery store. Just don’t forget to then register your card online to give yourself access to all the program benefits.
Even if you forget your card, you can still collect your points by using your registered phone number when you check out.
You can start earning points as soon as you have a digital or physical card, so let’s explore the best ways to build up your More Rewards account balance.
As a More Rewards member, you earn a base rate of 1 point per dollar spent with the program’s partnered merchants.
Since the program is the loyalty program for the Pattison Food Group, one of the best ways to earn points is by spending money at partnered grocery stores.
Additionally, you can earn More Rewards points by shopping at numerous merchant partners in Western Canada.
You can earn More Rewards points at the following participating grocery stores:
This is a great way to earn a nice bonus on a common expense, helping you get more points faster.
You can also earn More Rewards points at the following partnered merchants:
Of course, this list is subject to change at any point, with More Rewards adding new partners all the time.
When spending money at participating grocery stores and merchants, you are not able to earn points on the following items: lottery tickets, tobacco products, alcohol, prescriptions, clinic fees, diabetes care, tickets, charities, bus passes, postage stamps, delivery fees, taxes, and recycling fees.
One of the best ways to earn More Rewards points is by spending on one of the program’s two co-branded credit cards: the More Rewards RBC Visa Card and the More Rewards RBC Visa Infinite Card.
Both of these cards let you earn More Rewards points on all of your daily purchases, and they give you up to 8 points per $1 spent at participating More Rewards merchants – plus, this is on top of the points you earn by scanning your More Rewards membership card at checkout!
The More Rewards RBC Visa Card comes with the following earning rates:
The More Rewards RBC Visa Infinite Card lets you earn More Rewards points as follows:
With both these cards, you can also enjoy some perks and benefits like savings on gas at Petro-Canada, purchase security and extended warranty, and mobile device insurance.
These are pretty decent earning rates and benefits, especially given that the cards also have no annual fee and typically come with a welcome bonus of points.
If you’re not inclined to get one of the More Rewards co-branded credit cards, you can still earn some bonus points by linking your More Rewards membership account to all your eligible (non-More Rewards) RBC debit and credit cards.
By doing this, you’ll earn 1 extra More Rewards point per dollar spent, giving you 2 More Rewards points for every dollar spent when you shop at participating grocery and retail locations.
You can easily link your accounts on the RBC website.
Another way to earn More Rewards points is by booking your travel through the More Rewards Travel booking portal powered by Expedia.
This option gives you a base earning rate of 1 More Rewards point per $1 spent through the More Rewards Travel website, but we’ve also seen bonus earning events that bump this rate quite a bit higher.
For example, during a recent bonus event, you could earn 5 More Rewards points per $1 spent through the travel portal.
To maximize the More Rewards points you can earn on your grocery store purchases, make sure to watch for points promotions such as digital coupons, in-store bonus offers, and personalized earning opportunities. These offers can be found when you sign in to your account and click on “My Offers,” and by watching local flyers and your email.
By checking your My Offers, you may see point multiplier offers like “2x the points,” bonus points offered if you buy the listed item (e.g., “buy grapes and earn 200 points”), or special lower prices for More Rewards members.
One final tip for earning the most More Rewards possible is to link your household accounts.
The More Rewards program lets you and anyone else in your household link together your cards so that you can combine your points balances and reach redemption thresholds faster.
To link your household accounts, you simply need to contact More Rewards through their website, or visit the Customer Service desk at your local participating Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Urban Fare, Buy-Low Foods, Quality Foods, or Nester Market.
More Rewards points can be redeemed a few different ways depending on your priorities.
Although we’ve assessed the value of More Rewards points to be, on average, about 0.2 cents each, this value can actually fluctuate a fair bit depending on the redemption path you choose.
In the sections below, we’ll share the best ways to redeem your More Rewards points and what kind of value you can expect to get.
One of the most common and easiest ways to redeem your More Rewards points is to save money on your groceries bill.
You can redeem 10,000 points for $15 off your grocery bill in person at Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Buy-Low Foods, Urban Fare, Quality Foods, and Nester Market.
You can also redeem your points at the same rate through the More Rewards e-commerce platform. However, to redeem online, you need to spend at least $55 before taxes, and you’re limited to one redemption per transaction.
Redeeming your points for groceries gets you a value of 1 More Rewards point = 0.15 cents.
The Pay With Points option is not available at all Buy-Low Foods locations; it is only available at eligible locations that accept the More Rewards card.
Another easy way to redeem your More Rewards points is by exchanging them for gift cards at participating Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Urban Fare, Nesters Market, Quality Foods, and Buy-Low Foods.
The gift card selection will vary store to store, but you can usually find gift cards for groceries, Starbucks, Esso, Canadian Tire, IKEA, Apple, and many more.
The gift cards are available in-store at the following redemption rates:
Redeem 7,000 points for a $10 gift card Redeem 17,500 points for a $25 gift card Redeem 35,000 points for a $50 gift card Redeem 70,000 points for a $100 gift card
These redemptions offer a value of around 0.14 cents per point.
If you’d prefer to redeem from the comfort of your own home, you can find a range of gift cards through the More Rewards Online Store.
For example, you can redeem your points for gift cards for Best Western Hotels, Grouse Mountain, Panago Pizza, and the Running Room.
For those looking to take a vacation without spending a fortune, you may find it helpful to redeem your More Rewards points for travel booked through More Rewards Travel, the program’s online travel portal powered by Expedia.
You can easily book travel by going to the More Rewards Travel website and searching for your flight, hotel, car rental, etc. like normal. Then, when you go to check out, you’ll see options to pay for your booking with cash, points, or a combination of both
The redemption value for this option can fluctuate quite a bit depending on the details of your booking, but we’ve seen options like a night in a beautiful hotel in Mexico City for just over 87,000 points (cash value of $374.55).
With this example, you’d be getting a value of 0.43 cents per point, which is nearly three times as much as the 0.15 cents per point value you get when you redeem for free groceries!
Another fun way to redeem your More Rewards points is for event tickets and experience vouchers through the More Rewards Online Store.
The available options will change depending on the season, but you can often find choices like Sea to Sky Gondola vouchers, BC Ferries travel vouchers, Vancouver Canucks tickets, and more.
More Rewards points can also occassionally be redeemed for a specific promotional item (e.g., chocolates around Valentine’s Day) from participating Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Urban Fare, Nesters Market, Quality Foods, and Buy-Low Foods.
The details about the grocery and household items that are available for redemption can be found online by signing into your More Rewards account using your More Rewards ID and clicking on My Offers.
For those of you who are feeling benevolent, you can always redeem your More Rewards points for a charitable donation to select children’s hospitals and other health charities within Western Canada.
You can find more details about this option by visiting the More Rewards online store and selecting “Donation.”
