If you’re based in Western Canada and would like to earn points that can help you get free groceries, gift cards, travel, and more, you should definitely check out More Rewards.
More Rewards, the loyalty program of the Pattison Food Group, lets you earn points with their partnered merchants, which range from popular grocery chains to home improvement services to restaurants and more.
Operating from the West Coast to Manitoba, residents can easily join More Rewards online or in select participating stores to start their rewards journey.
Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the program to see how it works.
Earning points through the More Rewards program is easy. Just sign up for a More Rewards account online to get your More Rewards ID, then add your points card to your digital wallet, and you’re ready to go!
If you’d prefer a physical card, you can pick one up in participating grocery stores and then register it online to enjoy all the program benefits.
Once you’re enrolled in the program, you can also use your registered phone number at check-out to make sure you collect your points even if you’ve forgotten your card!
As a More Rewards member, you can build up your points balance a few ways:
With the More Rewards, you earn a base of 1 point per dollar spent with the program’s partnered merchants.
The program’s partners include grocery stores Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Buy-Low Foods, Urban Fare, Quality Foods, and Nester Market, as well as numerous other businesses in Western Canada.
However, keep in mind that you will not earn points on the following items: lottery tickets, tobacco products, alcohol, prescriptions, clinic fees, diabetes care, tickets, charities, bus passes, postage stamps, delivery fees, taxes, and recycling fees.
More Rewards has partnered with RBC to provide two co-branded credit cards that let you earn points on your purchases at a higher rate.
By using one of these cards when you make a purchase at a More Rewards partner, you could enjoy an earning rate of up to 8 points per dollar spent!
You’ll want to watch the More Rewards website and store flyers for points promotions and special offers that can help you earn points faster.
You may see point multiplier offers like “2x the points,” bonus points offered if you buy the listed item (e.g., “buy grapes and earn 200 points”), or special lower prices for More Rewards members.
You and anyone else in your household can link your cards together to combine your points balances and earn better rewards faster.
If you’d like to link your card, you need to contact More Rewards through their website, or you can visit the Customer Service desk at your local participating Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Urban Fare, Buy-Low Foods, Quality Foods, or Nester Market.
Keep in mind that if you later want to unlink your household cards, the accumulated points balance will be divided equally between each of the linked accounts.
[NOTE / TIP: Your More Rewards points will expire if there is no activity on the account in 18 months.]
Your More Rewards points can be redeemed a number of different ways.
There’s no set value for the points you earn with More Rewards; instead, the redemption value you receive from your points depends on how you choose to redeem them.
Points can be redeemed in the following ways:
Redeem 10,000 points for $15 off your grocery bill at Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Buy-Low Foods, Urban Fare, Quality Foods, and Nester Market.
To redeem your points for groceries, you need to spend a minimum of $15 before tax, and this can’t include any of the ineligible items mentioned above. You can then let the cashier know when you’re checking out that you’d like to use some points on that purchase.
You can also redeem through the More Rewards e-commerce platform. For this option, you need to spend at least $55 before taxes, and you’re limited to one redemption per transaction.
[Note/Tip: The Pay With Points option is not available at all Buy-Low Foods locations; it is only available at eligible locations that accept the More Rewards card.]
You can redeem your More Rewards points for a wide range of gift cards at participating Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Urban Fare, Nesters Market, Quality Foods, and Buy-Low Foods.
Not only can you get grocery store gift cards, but you can also redeem your points for gift cards for Starbucks, Esso, Canadian Tire, IKEA, Apple, and many more!
The gift cards are available in-store at the following redemption rates:
Redeem 7,000 points for a $10 gift card Redeem 17,500 points for a $25 gift card Redeem 35,000 points for a $50 gift card Redeem 70,000 points for a $100 gift card
You can also redeem your points for other gift cards through the More Rewards Online Store.
For example, you can redeem your points for gift cards for Best Western Hotels, Grouse Mountain, Panago Pizza, and the Running Room.
If you’d rather use your points for an experience, you can redeem them for event tickets and experience vouchers through the More Rewards Online Store.
Depending on the season, you can find redemption options like Vancouver Canucks tickets, Sea to Sky Gondola vouchers, BC Ferries travel vouchers, and more.
As a member of the More Rewards program, you have access to special weekly promotions at Save-On-Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Urban Fare, Nesters Market, Quality Foods, and Buy-Low Foods that let you redeem points in exchange for a specific product.
You can find the promotion details online by signing into your More Rewards account using your More Rewards ID and clicking on My Offers.
If you’re looking to save a bit of money on your next vacation, you can also use your points for travel booked through More Rewards Travel, the program’s online travel portal powered by Expedia.
To book travel, simply click through to the More Rewards Travel website and search for your flight, hotel, car rental, etc. as you normally would.
On the results page, you will see the option to pay for your booking with cash, points, or a combination of both.
Have a bunch of points and want to do something wonderful with them?
You can use your More Rewards points to make a donation to a children’s hospital or to other health charities within Western Canada.
The value you can enjoy when redeeming your More Rewards points changes depending on how you choose to use the points.
We’ve included a few examples of possible redemptions below to give you an idea of just how much the value can vary.
To begin, redeeming your points for groceries is one of the easiest ways to use your accumulated balance; however, in terms of value, this option comes in towards the lower end.
When redeeming your points for free groceries, you get $15 worth of groceries for 10,000 points, making each 1,000 points worth $1.50.
Alternatively, redeeming 35,000 points for a $50 in-store gift card gets you a value of $1.42 per 1,000 points.
You could also redeem your points through the More Rewards store if you’d rather use them to help cover the cost of a hotel. With this option, you could redeem 27,000 points for a $50 Best Western gift card and get a value of $1.85 per 1,000 points.
If you’d like to help offset the cost of your next new or used vehicle, you could redeem your points for a $100 voucher for Jim Pattison Auto Group. With the voucher costing only 29,000 points, you get a value of around $3.45 per 1,000 points, making this one of the most valuable redemption options in the program.
Another way to get some of the best value for your points is by redeeming them for travel booked through More Rewards Travel.
However, keep in mind that the value you can get through this option varies depending on what you’re booking, where it’s located, and when you plan to travel.
As an example of potential value, here’s an option to redeem just over 87,000 points for one night in a beautiful hotel in Mexico City with a cash value of $374.55.
With this redemption, you’d be getting a value of $4.31 per 1,000 points, which is nearly three times the value you get when using your points for groceries!
Redemption options can change based on availability, season, and more. Make sure to check the More Rewards Store and More Rewards Travel for the most up-to-date options.
