Qatar Airways’ new business class experience, called Qsuite, is available through Avios Points. During my recent trip to the Middle East, I had the opportunity to test Qatar Airways Qsuite twice.

Qatar Airways Qsuite – Booking

After attending the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, I opted to travel between Doha (DOH) and Montreal (YUL) on a direct flight operated by Qatar Aiways.

To book this business class flight, I used 70,000 Avios points ( + $143 in taxes)..

The flight was also available in economy class for 35,000 Avios points.

70,000 Avios points for a 13:45 flight in one of the best business classes available in the world is a real sweetspot!

Qatar Airways Qsuite – Check-in

Upon entering Doha Airport, a distinction is made between passengers travelling in Economy and Premium classes:

  • Business class (Al Mourjan)
  • First Class (Al Safwa)

Even before reaching the baggage check-in counter, a Qatar Airways staff member comes to welcome me and give me the right directions.

Once I checked in, I was able to go to the Al Mourjan Lounge.

Qatar Airways Qsuite – Boarding

After an hour in the Al Mourjan Lounge, I headed to my gate: C16.

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-02

Boarding is through two separate gates for business and economy class.

Qatar Airways Qsuite B777 – Cabin

Boarding in the first ones, I find the QSuite cabin of this Boeing 777, similar to the one I had seen a few days before on board the A350.

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-35
Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-05

The colours and materials Qatar Airways chose for this Qsuite cabin are splendid, down to the smallest detail.

Qatar Airways Qsuite B777 – Seat

For this nearly 14-hour flight in Qatar Airways Qsuite, I chose to sit in the 10K seat. It is a seat in the opposite direction of the flight: I tend to prefer this type of seat to sleep better (because of the inclination of the aircraft at cruising altitude).

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-04

Qatar Airways has thought of the smallest details for this seat with an individual directional light, and a clothes hook (you can also ask to place your jacket in the dressing room).

A velvet cushion completes the seat.

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-08

This seat can be transformed into a bed offering a rather comfortable space for the legs. Note that the armrest near the windows also lowers to allow more space and freedom of movement.

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-07

The controls are ergonomically arranged in an arc, making them easily accessible whether you are sitting or lying down.

In addition, a single button press is sufficient to perform an action, unlike most airlines that require the button to be held down. This allows you, for example, to store your belongings while reclining the seat.

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-10

If you are traveling as a couple, prefer the seats in the opposite direction of travel, in the center of the cabin, which are next to each other. Here are some pictures taken during my previous flight in QSuite:

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite A350-1000 | Business Class | RUH-DOH - Qatar Airways A350-30

And if you’re traveling with your family, book a set of 4 seats that face each other:

  • Two seats will be glued together
  • The other two seats will be far apart

It is possible to raise/lower the central partition in the 2 seats, as it is also possible to push the screens to the left/right to converse with 4 people!

Qatar Airways Qsuite 777 – IFE

The screen available at each Qatar Airways Qsuite seat is big: 21 inches (slightly smaller than on the A350, which offers a 21.5-inch screen).

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-15

You can connect your mobile devices to it and also use the HDMI socket to connect your computer to it. It’s an absolute comfort to work with a second screen during such a long flight!

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777 Qsuite-1

The remote control operation is pleasant and intuitive (even if I prefer the version on the A350).

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777 Qsuite-3

Qatar Airways offers all Qsuite passengers headphones with ambient noise reduction.

Qatar Airways Qsuite 777 – Tray

The Qatar Airways QSuite seat tray is cleverly designed to be folded in half or unfolded utterly, leaving a vast surface area.

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-16

Qatar Airways Qsuite 777 – Door

Qatar Airways has chosen to install doors on board the Qsuite business class. This type of layout was once reserved for certain First Class cabins.

Other airlines are following this trend (such as Air France on board some B777-300 ERs since early 2023).

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-13

This door brings a real feeling of intimacy, increasing the feeling of being in a real cocoon.

It is possible to close this door during boarding and at cruising altitude. Cabin crew will come and open them for takeoff and landing.

Qatar Airways Qsuite 777 – Welcome Amenity Kit

In the welcome amenity kit (here a collector’s box on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup 2022), we find body products (face cream, fresh milk, eau de toilette, lip balm), as well as a face mask, ear plugs and socks.

Qatar Airways Qsuite 777 – Meals

Qatar Airways is known for offering excellent meals, especially on long-haul flights like this Doha-Montreal. As an aperitif, I start with a glass of Laurent Perrier Cuvée Alexandra champagne, vintage 2006:

Finally, this will be the drink that will accompany my entire meal 😉

Here are the different drinks that can be requested on this Qatar Airways QSuite flight:

For the meal, several options are available à la carte.

Review: Qatar Airways QSuite B777 | Business Class | DOH-YUL - Qatar Airways B777-22

As usual, I choose the airline’s country specialties. Here, I opted for :

  • Classic Arabic meze with Arabic bread (hummus, baba ghanoush and tabbouleh)

Then for the main course:

  • Grilled kofta and lamb chop (focaccia with tomato, white eggplant and harissa oil)

Then the dessert of the moment:

  • FIFA World Cup Chocolate Dessert (70% dark chocolate, raspberry, chocolate crumble, praline and mascarpone cream)

Shortly before arriving in Montreal, a breakfast is served:

  • Traditional Arabic breakfast with Arabic bread (foul medames, feta, tomato, cucumber and olives)

Then a fruity dessert, accompanied by Swiss Läderach chocolates:

Qatar Airways Qsuite 777 – In-flight

To book a flight with Avios on Qatar Airways, simply transfer points from partner programs to British Airways Executive Club.

You can then either use British Airways Executive Club to book your flight, or combine your Avios points between British Airways Executive Club and Qatar Airways Privilege Club.

This is the option I chose in order to facilitate my reservations with Qatar Airways.

For this flight, I only needed to use 70,000 Avios points, which is :

  • 70,000 American Express Membership Rewards points
  • or 70,000 RBC Avion Rewards points
  • or 175,000 HSBC Rewards points
  • or 180,000 Marriott Bonvoy points (you will get 75,000 Avios points)

And that’s not even counting the point conversion promotions that occur at least once a year between these programs (American Express, HSBC, Marriott Bonvoy, RBC)!

See the articles below for more information:

Bottom Line

This second experience on Qatar Airways Qsuite confirmed one thing: it is, in my opinion, one of the best business classes in the world (if not THE best). Especially since I had the opportunity to try ANA The Room (often compared to Qatar Airways Qsuite). In my opinion, Qatar Airways is a step above All Nippon Airways.

Both the service and the comfort on board are of excellent quality. I highly recommend this experience. Especially since points are now easily accessible by combining British Airways Executive Club Avios points with Qatar Airways Privilege Club!
