PointsYeah: A Tool to Find Reward Availability

PointsYeah is a search platform dedicated to reward travel, designed to simplify the use of loyalty points with quick searches. It stands out with a simple interface, essential features, and personalized tools to help people find the best reward deals for flights and accommodations.

What is PointsYeah.com?

PointsYeah is an online platform that simplifies the search for reward travel. It centralizes information from 25 loyalty programs (including 17 airline programs) and allows you to instantly compare available options for your reward trips. This service caters to both beginners and experts, offering personalized tools such as alerts. PointsYeah helps save time in finding reward availability.

The free version already offers many features, ideal for occasional travel. With the free plan, you can view award flights over a 4-day window and have up to 4 alerts. However, for frequent travellers, the paid plan justifies its cost with more alerts and additional options. The paid plan offers you an 8-day window and the possibility of tracking up to 32 alerts. Both plans include a discovery tool for award fares from different airports and advanced filters to refine your search and plan your trip according to your points budget.

PointsYeah Key Features

Multi-Program Flight Search

PointsYeah searches availability across dozens of loyalty programs, including Aeroplan, Flying Blue and Avios (on Finnair), to help people use their points more easily.

For KrisFlyer, a tool like PointsYeah becomes especially handy now that Singapore Airlines requires a minimum mile balance to search award space directly on its own site.

Here is a list of the main air programs supported:

Aeromexico Club Premier
Air Canada Aeroplan
Air France/KLM Flying Blue
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
American Airlines AAdvantage
Avianca LifeMiles
Delta SkyMiles
Emirates Skywards
Finnair Plus Avios
JetBlue TrueBlue
Qantas Frequent Flyer
Singapore Airlines Krisflyer
Spirit Airlines Free Spirit
TAP Air Portugal Miles&Go
Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles
United MileagePlus
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

Hotel Search With Points

PointsYeah offers a hotel search functionality that enables users to find interesting offers using their loyalty points. The platform supports loyalty programs such as Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, World of Hyatt Points, IHG One Rewards, Wyndham Rewards and Choice Privileges Rewards, making it easy to find accommodations to suit your preferences.

PointsYeah Tools

PointsYeah – A Google Flights Search Engine Using Points

One of PointsYeah‘s major assets is its ability to search for flights in real time. Thanks to its powerful algorithm, the platform analyzes availability on over 200 airlines in a matter of seconds, enabling you to find the best options to suit your needs.

Here are the advantages of this feature:

PointsYeah generates results in less than 20 seconds, making it an ideal tool for those who want to quickly compare different itineraries.
The platform offers over 20 selection criteria, such as flight duration, price in points, class of service and carrier surcharges. So you can refine your search and quickly see the most relevant options for your trip.
Unlike other tools, PointsYeah ensures that the availability displayed reflects current airline data, reducing the risk of a seat disappearing after selection.

PointsYeah: A Tool to Find Reward Availability - PointsYeah results

With these features, PointsYeah is positioned as a must-have tool for travellers looking for an efficient and reliable process for booking award tickets or optimizing their use of loyalty points. Indeed, what I look for with every tool I use is the ability to select exactly the criteria I want.

I also cross-checked the results with the official Air Canada Aeroplan website, and it’s right on the money. The slight disparity is explained by the fact that I have a co-branded Aeroplan credit card which gives me a preferential rate.

PointsYeah: A Tool to Find Reward Availability - PointsYeah results check

I would have liked to be able to filter by credit card programs, but only American cards are available on PointsYeah, as with its competitors. On the other hand, the platform does display promotions on points purchases, which are generally accessible to all. This is an interesting asset, as it enables you to quickly assess whether buying points is worth it when a bonus availability is spotted. Here, for example, is a mention of an Alaska Mileage Plan points purchase with a bonus.

PointsYeah – Daydream Explorer

Daydream Explorer is a flagship feature of PointsYeah, ideal for flexible people who want to explore destinations without any specific ideas. This great tool lets you discover flight and accommodation opportunities based on your points or miles, according to customizable criteria.

PointsYeah: A Tool to Find Reward Availability - PointsYeah Daydream

You can choose up to three departure airports and define destinations by continent, region, country, or even opt for « anywhere” if you’re open to suggestions.
The feature allows you to filter destinations according to specific activities, such as scuba diving, skiing or golf, to tailor suggestions to your interests.
Daydream Explorer lets you search for travel opportunities up to 365 days in advance, offering great planning flexibility.
You can refine the results according to cabin class (economy, premium, business, first), percentage of flights in premium cabin, number of stopovers, number of points to spend, and maximum taxes and fees you’re willing to pay.
The tool displays travel options, indicating the cost in points or miles as well as the price in cash, making it easy to compare and decide.
PointsYeah offers a separate feature called Deal Alerts, which notifies you when a new offer matching your criteria appears in Daydream Explorer. For example, you can set up an alert to notify you as soon as a business class award ticket to a beach destination becomes available, on specific dates from a specific airport.

However, the Daydream function relies on cached data, which may result in outdated results or the absence of actual availability (phantom results). Deal Alerts are free and unlimited, whether you use the free or paid plan.

PointsYeah – Smart Alerts

PointsYeah‘s personalized alerts are designed to simplify your search for award tickets and accommodations:

Monitor specific itineraries and be informed as soon as availability matches your criteria.
Receive notifications of fluctuations in the cost of points, allowing you to take advantage of the best opportunities.
Be notified of new availability for hotels or flights, so you can act quickly before they disappear.

Thanks to these alerts, you stay proactive and maximize your chances of booking optimal options according to your needs. These alerts are different from the Deal Alerts mentioned above.

PointsYeah – Search for Hotels

In addition to award flights, PointsYeah simplifies your accommodation search by allowing you to book with loyalty points. Thanks to its dedicated search engine, the platform lets you quickly compare availability and points rates across several hotel programs, making it a great free tool for exploring the options available during your trip. However, this search engine is very basic.

Quickly check availability and rates for the main hotel programs, without having to visit each site.
Refine your search by specific criteria, such as hotel, location, number of points, etc.
Maximize your points redemption by comparing the cost in points with the monetary value of hotel nights.
Receive notifications when rates fall below your defined thresholds, in cash or points.
Monitor up to 15 simultaneous alerts (4 on the free plan) to be informed of available award rooms.
Easily identify hotels offering suite upgrades using your points.
If you have the American Express Platinum Card^®, look for Fine Hotels + Resorts with benefits such as free breakfast at selected hotels and a $200 Annual Travel Credit.

PointsYeah lets you search for availability in the following programs:

Choice Privileges Rewards
Hilton Honors
World of Hyatt
IHG One Rewards
Marriott Bonvoy
Wyndham Rewards

For example, if you’re planning a trip to Tokyo, just enter your travel dates and you’ll see at a glance the points options available.

Advantages and Limitations of PointsYeah

PointsYeah stands out for its speed and efficiency. Searches take less than 20 seconds, making the user experience smooth and enjoyable. Even in its free version, the tool offers an impressive range of features, making it accessible to beginners and frequent travellers alike.
Advanced filters and smart alerts let you tailor your search to your precise needs.
Cost transparency is a real plus: taxes and surcharges are displayed directly, albeit in US dollars, so there are no nasty surprises when you book.
PointsYeah uses cached data to speed up the processing of searches in the DayDream function, which may cause some inconvenience. The availability displayed is not always updated in real time, and the options offered may differ from those actually available on loyalty program sites.
Refreshing data at regular intervals can also frustrate users in search of precise or urgent availability.

To overcome these limitations, we recommend using PointsYeah as a preliminary tool to explore your options. Then, it’s wise to confirm availability directly on the loyalty program site. Finally, smart alerts can be a great help in keeping an eye on the options that interest you in real time.

What Sets PointsYeah Apart Apart From Its Competitors

I find PointsYeah to be an accessible and versatile tool, particularly suited to beginners. However, its interface sometimes gives the impression of being overloaded with information and text, which can make navigation less fluid and the experience a little less enjoyable. Compared to more technical platforms such as Seats.Aero, Roame or ExpertFlyer, which offer more detailed but better-structured options, PointsYeah can seem too visually dense, especially with the persistent presence of ads (on the edges of search results and those that pop-up), which somewhat disrupt my concentration when analyzing results.

That said, the free version of PointsYeah offers good value for money, in my opinion, enabling casual users to access key features at no extra cost. Thanks to the use of cached data, searches are fast and fluid, a real time-saver compared with some alternatives.

While PointsYeah is a good choice for maximizing the value of your points with a free tool, I find that Roame stands out for its more modern design and more polished ergonomics. Those who prefer a clearer, more pleasant experience might be more attracted to this option. However, PointsYeah remains a solid tool for those who want to use their points effectively, at no cost.

Subscription Plans

PointsYeah offers two subscription levels to suit different types of user. Here’s a comparison table to help you choose:

Features	Free version	Premium Version
Cost	Free	$11.99/month or $99.99/year
Search Window	4 days	8 days
Number of Alerts	Up to 4	Up to 32 for flights and 15 for hotels
Daydream Explorer	Yes	Yes

I suggest you try out the free version to familiarize yourself with the features. Upgrade to the Premium version if you have complex or frequent travel plans.

Conclusion

In summary, PointsYeah is a solid option for reward travel enthusiasts, with a simple interface and useful features such as Daydream Explorer and personalized alerts. Its free version is perfect for beginners, while the Premium subscription is better suited for frequent travellers looking to maximize the use of their points.

Sign up for free to discover your first reward travel opportunities. However, for those looking for a more refined user experience and modern design, Roame could be an interesting alternative to explore.

The American Express Cobalt^® Card is the best credit card from American Express, whether you want points for travel or cash back.

American Express Cobalt^® Card welcome offer

The welcome bonus is paid out monthly over your first 12 months. You earn 1,250 Membership Rewards points for each monthly billing period in which you charge $750 in net purchases to your card, in any category (1X, 2X, 3X or 5X). That adds up to 15,000 Membership Rewards points over the year, a welcome offer we value at $255.

Earning the full bonus means $9,000 in net purchases spread across 12 monthly billing periods. This offer rewards steady monthly spending rather than one large purchase.

You can use these points as statement credits on everyday or travel purchases, at the same rate either way: 1,000 points = $10.

You can also transfer them to Aeroplan, Avios (British Airways and Qatar Airways), Flying Blue, Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors. With the full welcome bonus, that is a choice between:

15,000 Aeroplan points
15,000 Avios points
15,000 Flying Blue Miles
18,000 Marriott Bonvoy points

If hotel points are what you are after, our ultimate guide to Marriott Bonvoy and our complete map of Marriott Bonvoy hotels by category show what those points can actually buy.

The 5X categories and where they apply

The 5X rate is the reason most people carry this card. In Canada it covers four kinds of merchants:

Groceries: Metro, IGA, Sobeys, Super C, Safeway, Whole Foods.
Restaurants and bars: sit-down meals, takeout and drinks.
Home food delivery.
Convenience stores: Couche-Tard, 7-Eleven.

The 2X rate covers gas stations such as Esso, Shell and Petro-Canada, along with public transit and ride sharing.

With the American Express Cobalt^® Card, you earn between 1 and 5 points per dollar:

Category	Points per dollar
Grocery (Metro, IGA, Sobeys, Super C, etc.)	5
Home food delivery	5
Restaurants and bars	5
Convenience stores	5
Streaming services	3
Service station	2
Transport	2
Travel	1
Other	1

That works out to a 1 to 5% return on those purchases. For example, if you spend $1,000 per month across groceries, restaurants and food delivery, you earn $50 back per month, or $600 per year from that category alone. Transfer the points to a program such as Aeroplan instead and the return can be higher.

You can also stack these categories with the hundreds of stores that offer 5x points.

American Express Cobalt^® Card insurance coverage

The card comes with a broad insurance package. The amounts below are the coverage limits; conditions, age limits and exclusions are set out in the certificate of insurance linked in the Insurance section above.

Travel insurance

Emergency medical: up to $5,000,000 for the first 15 days of a trip.
Travel accident: accidental death and dismemberment of up to $250,000 for you, your spouse and dependent children under age 23 when travelling on a common carrier (plane, train, bus or ship) and the tickets are charged to your card. Supplementary cardholders and their families are covered too.
Flight delay: up to $500 for necessary hotel, meal and sundry expenses bought within 48 hours when you are delayed or denied boarding for four hours or more and no other transportation is available. This $500 is an aggregate limit per occurrence, shared with missed connection and delayed baggage coverage.
Delayed baggage: up to $500 for essential clothing and sundries bought within four days when your outbound luggage is delayed six hours or more. This $500 is an aggregate limit per occurrence, shared with missed connection and flight delay coverage.
Lost or stolen baggage: up to $500 per occurrence for all insured persons combined, for checked or carry-on baggage and personal effects in transit, when the airline tickets are charged to your card. Within that limit, jewellery is capped at $300 per occurrence and golf clubs, including golf bags, at $250 per occurrence.
Hotel and motel burglary: up to $500 against the loss of most personal items if your hotel or motel is burglarized, when the stay is charged to your card.

Rental car insurance

Theft and damage coverage is included for a rental car with an MSRP, for its model year, of up to $85,000 excluding all taxes, for rentals of up to 48 days. To use it, decline the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) or any similar option from the rental company and charge the full rental to your card. There is no cost for this coverage, and it replaces the daily insurance the rental company charges, usually $16 to $23 per day.

Mobile device insurance

Your device is covered for up to $1,000 per occurrence when it is charged to the card, for up to two years from the date of purchase. The payout is based on the depreciated value of the device, which falls by 2% of the purchase price for every completed month, less a 10% deductible. Theft and accidental damage coverage starts on the 91st day after purchase, because the first 90 days are covered by purchase protection.

Purchase protection and extended warranty

Eligible items charged to your card are insured against accidental physical damage or theft for 90 days from the purchase date, up to $1,000 per occurrence for all items combined. The card also extends the original manufacturer’s warranty by up to one additional year on eligible items, with indemnification limited to $10,000 per insured item and $25,000 per Cardmember per policy year for all items combined.

American Express Cobalt^® Card fees

Card fee: $15.99 per month, which equals $191.88 per year, for residents outside Quebec. Quebec residents are billed $191.88 per year.
Additional cards: $0.
Purchase interest rate: 21.99%.
