TD is moving some holders of the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card up to the Visa Infinite+ tier, which adds 10 GB of GigSky mobile data valid for 15 days every year. With the 1 GB plan already included, you get up to 11 GB of free data a year when you travel, without switching cards.
In our view, this is one of the most practical travel perks added to an Aeroplan card this year. Keep two things in mind, though: the tier doesn't cover every cardholder yet, and TD still lists the card as a Visa Infinite on its website.

What Visa Infinite+ adds to your TD card
According to TD, eligible cardholders moved to the Visa Infinite+ tier get two additional GigSky benefits:
10 GB of global mobile data, valid for 15 consecutive days, once a year;
365 days of access to GigSky Travel Essentials, a plan limited to certain essential travel apps.
In practical terms, the 10 GB plan gives you about 667 MB a day over 15 days. We think that's enough for GPS navigation, messaging and email on a two-week trip, without buying a local SIM card.
How to check whether your card qualifies
You don't need to ask TD: the GigSky app shows you which plans your card unlocks. GigSky describes the steps as follows:
Download the GigSky app from the App Store or Google Play.
If your card is eligible, your free plans appear: choose your destination and activate the plan.
If only the 1 GB plan shows up, your account is still at the Visa Infinite tier. You then keep the annual 1 GB plan and the 20% discount. Our guide to the free GigSky eSIM with Visa covers installation and the benefits of each tier.
Visa Infinite+ cards in Canada
You now have 4 Canadian cards that give access to the 10 GB GigSky plan. Our comparison tool lists 3 with Visa Infinite+ in their name, issued by Scotiabank and Wealthsimple. TD becomes the third institution to offer the tier, without renaming its card for now.
Canadian credit cards at the Visa Infinite+ tier and free GigSky data per year
For you, the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card remains first and foremost an Aeroplan points card, with a $139 annual fee. Its welcome offer goes up to 50,000 Aeroplan points, with the annual fee rebated in the first year, subject to TD's conditions.
Free data cuts your roaming costs, but it doesn't change the 2.5% foreign transaction fee the card charges on purchases in foreign currencies. If you spend a lot abroad, we recommend keeping a card with no foreign transaction fees as a backup.

Are all TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Cards moving to Visa Infinite+?
No. TD is granting the Visa Infinite+ tier to some cardholders only, and still lists the card as a Visa Infinite on its website. If your account isn't included, you keep the annual 1 GB GigSky plan and the 20% discount on additional plans.
How do I know if my TD Aeroplan card is Visa Infinite+?
Open the GigSky app and enter your card number. The app shows the free plans your card is entitled to: if the 10 GB plan appears, your account has moved to the Visa Infinite+ tier.
How much free GigSky data does the card include each year?
At the Visa Infinite tier, you get one 1 GB plan valid for 15 days per year. At the Visa Infinite+ tier, TD adds a 10 GB plan valid for 15 consecutive days, for up to 11 GB of free data a year.
What is GigSky Travel Essentials?
It's a GigSky plan limited to certain essential travel apps. Cardholders moved to the Visa Infinite+ tier get access to it for 365 days, on top of the 10 GB plan.
Where does GigSky data work?
GigSky advertises coverage in more than 175 destinations. Before you leave, we recommend checking in the app that your destination is included in the plan offered.
Does the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card also get 10 GB?
The Visa Infinite+ tier announced by TD applies to the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card. The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card belongs to a different Visa tier with its own GigSky benefits, which our guide to the free GigSky eSIM with Visa explains.
