Porter Airlines is expanding its network on two fronts simultaneously. On one hand, the airline is launching daily service between Ottawa, Windsor, and Sudbury starting today. On the other, it is announcing four new sun destinations for winter 2026-2027, with an increase of over 150% in its Southern offerings compared to last year. In total, nearly 5,000 sun flights will operate this winter from six Canadian airports.
Six Canadian airports are benefiting from this expansion: Halifax, Hamilton, Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, and Calgary. To compare payment options, visit our page on the best credit cards in Canada.
Starting May 1, 2026, Porter Airlines is launching daily non-stop service between Ottawa (YOW) and Windsor (YQG), as well as between Ottawa and Sudbury (YSB). These two routes are exclusively offered by Porter.
The airline’s growing presence at YOW means travelers can now easily access a wide range of destinations from the national capital: Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, St. John’s, Halifax, Moncton, Fredericton, and Charlottetown, as well as connections to the United States and Mexico. This summer, Porter will operate more flights from Ottawa than any other carrier.
The arrival of the new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft in Porter’s fleet opens the door to longer routes. As a result, the airline is adding four new destinations to its winter network:
These additions complement existing service to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, Grand Cayman, and Liberia. Furthermore, Porter becomes the only airline to offer flights to Aruba and Los Cabos from Ottawa, as well as to Montego Bay from Hamilton.
Here is the complete schedule for the 15 new routes announced for the 2026-2027 winter season:
This announcement marks a turning point for Porter in Western Canada. Indeed, Edmonton (YEG) welcomes the airline’s first international flights from Alberta, with four new routes: Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.
Calgary (YYC) is also adding daily service to Phoenix. Additionally, Porter is resuming the Vancouver–Phoenix route and enhancing its Toronto–Phoenix offering with a second daily flight. All these flights offer connections to American Airlines’ network, the result of the partnership between Porter and American Airlines.
In addition to new routes, Porter is increasing the frequency of several already established sun routes. As a result, Ottawa is doubling its service to Cancun and Hamilton is seeing its Florida routes increase to daily flights.
With the expansion of Porter’s network, options for using your VIPorter points are multiplying. Indeed, VIPorter points allow you to travel to these new sun destinations for as little as 10,000 points one-way on certain short routes.
You can get a seat for 16,000 points and, on certain dates, a one-way ticket costs around $250.
The all-inclusive PorterReserve fare offers greater booking flexibility and expedited airport access with dedicated check-in and priority boarding. Two checked bags are included free of charge, as well as seats with extra legroom at the front of the cabin. VIPorter loyalty program members can redeem their points to travel to sun destinations for as little as 10,000 points one-way.

Additionally, thanks to the partnership with Alaska Airlines, you can also book Porter flights with your Atmos Rewards points. For getting started with the program, consult our tutorial for booking a flight with VIPorter points.
The BMO VIPorter credit cards allow you to quickly accumulate points to take advantage of these new destinations. The BMO VIPorter World Elite Mastercard currently offers up to 70,000 VIPorter points as a welcome bonus, enough for several sun round trips!
Finally, you are covered by multiple insurance policies and enjoy six months of Instacart+ membership and a $10 monthly Instacart credit when you sign up with your eligible BMO credit card.
On every flight, Porter maintains its distinctive economy class service. Notably, the no-middle-seat configuration, complimentary wine and beer served in real glasses, as well as premium snacks.
Additionally, routes operated by the new Embraer E195-E2 include access to fast, free Wi-Fi. Furthermore, the PorterReserve option offers greater flexibility with dedicated check-in, priority boarding, two included checked bags, and seats with extra legroom.
Porter Airlines is advancing on all fronts. On the domestic network, the new daily Ottawa–Windsor and Ottawa–Sudbury routes strengthen YOW’s role as a national hub. On the international network, the four new sun destinations and 15 new routes for winter 2026-2027 confirm Porter’s shift towards Southern markets.
For Canadian travelers, this is an opportunity to use their VIPorter points on new routes from six airports across the country. However, reward seats go quickly: it’s best to plan your bookings early for spring break and the winter season.
