Overview
Metro’s Moi Rewards program rewards purchases at six banners: Metro, Super C, Food Basics, Jean Coutu, Brunet, and Première Moisson. It replaced metro&moi. Each point is worth 0.8¢, or $1 for 125 points. You can start using your points once your account reaches 500 points.
Your earning rate depends on the store and province. Metro in Quebec awards 1 base point per eligible dollar. Super C and Food Basics award points through promotions instead. Here is how to manage your Moi card and calculate your savings.
Moi card: account and activation
The Moi loyalty card is separate from a credit card. Canadian residents aged 16 or older can join. Minors must obtain parental consent where their province requires it.
You can enrol through the official Moi Rewards website, use a participating banner’s app, or start registration in-store. If you receive a physical card at checkout, complete your registration online before trying to use your points.
Follow the registration instructions provided when you receive your card. Then use your account or the banner’s app to check your balance, access your digital card, and add coupons. You can reach customer service at 1 866 638-0020.
Deactivate a lost card through your account. Report the loss promptly, then follow the official replacement process. The program retains your points, but you remain responsible for transactions made before you report the loss.
Earn points by store
The official Moi earning chart distinguishes base points from bonus points. Present your card for every eligible purchase, including at banners that do not award base points.
| Banner | Province | Base points | Return |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metro | Quebec | 1 point per dollar | 0.8% |
| Metro | Ontario | 1 point per $3 | Approximately 0.27% |
| Jean Coutu | Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick | 1 point per dollar | 0.8% |
| Brunet | Quebec | 1 point per dollar | 0.8% |
| Première Moisson | Quebec | 1 point per dollar | 0.8% |
| Super C | Quebec | None; bonus points through offers | Varies |
| Food Basics | Ontario | None; bonus points through offers | Varies |
These rates apply to participating stores and eligible purchases. Points are calculated on the net amount before taxes. Rounding can slightly reduce the return on a small transaction.
Compare these rules with Scene+ and PC Optimum. The most useful program depends first on basket prices at the stores you visit.
Excluded purchases
Some products neither earn points nor qualify for payment with points. Examples include tobacco, lottery tickets, gift cards, prescription medication, and SAQ agency products.
Taxes, deposits, environmental fees, and order preparation or delivery charges are also excluded. Additional pharmacy and health product restrictions depend on the province. Consult the official terms for the full list.
Use bonus offers
Flyers, marked products, and coupons can award additional points. Some offers require a specific quantity, minimum spending, or coupon activation before payment.
Add relevant coupons to your account before shopping. Check the banner, expiry date, eligible products, and rules for combining offers. Each coupon’s conditions determine how it applies.
Convert points into dollars when comparing a promotion with the regular price: 50 points are worth $0.40, and 1,000 points are worth $8. A $0.40 reward does not offset a product costing $1 more than elsewhere.
A points multiplier applies to the earning rate specified in the offer. It does not automatically multiply every reward or your credit card earnings. There is no guaranteed permanent promotion schedule. Our Moi strategy guide explains how to compare these offers.

Point value and checkout savings
One Moi point is worth CA$0.008, or 0.8 cents. This is the value of a point. Your return on spending depends on how many points you earn per dollar.
| Moi points | Checkout savings |
|---|---|
| 500 | $4 |
| 750 | $6 |
| 1,250 | $10 |
| 2,500 | $20 |
| 5,000 | $40 |
| 12,500 | $100 |
You must have at least 500 points in your account before using points. The terms then provide for increments of 125 points. Unused points remain in your account.
For example, using 750 points from a balance of 840 gives you $6 off. You keep the remaining 90 points. You must reach the required balance again before another exchange.

Present your card at checkout and ask to use your points. Some participating online shopping services also support this option. Check your banner’s service conditions before placing an order.
The limits are $200 per transaction and $500 per day. The eligible purchase amount before taxes must cover the reward used. Points cannot be cashed out.
Do Moi points expire?
Points can expire after 18 consecutive months without a purchase or reward transaction using your Moi card. The terms allow Metro to close the account after written notice.
The help centre states that it sends an initial notice after 16 months of inactivity and a final notice at 18 months. Signing into your account does not replace an eligible transaction. Present your card regularly and watch for notices sent to your email address.
Add credit card rewards
Moi points reward your purchase. A credit card can add rewards for the payment. Choose one based on your budget, fees, and eligibility, then pay the balance in full.
Scotia Momentum: check eligibility
The Scotia Momentum® Visa Infinite +* Card earns 4% on eligible groceries and recurring bill payments. These purchases share a $25,000 annual spending cap, after which the rate falls to 1%. The regular annual fee is $120.
Before applying, check Scotiabank’s income or asset requirements and the card tier offered. Approval also depends on your credit application. Visa must classify the purchase in the eligible category.
BMO CashBack: a monthly cap
The BMO CashBack® World Elite®* Mastercard®* earns 5% on the first $500 in eligible groceries per statement period, then 1%. The regular annual fee is $139.
The advertised minimum annual income is $80,000 for an individual or $150,000 for a household. The $500 cap covers all eligible grocery purchases, even across several stores. Mastercard must classify the merchant as a grocery store.
The moi RBC Visa
The moi RBC Visa Credit Card has no annual fee. The RBC terms provide 1 point per dollar on purchases, plus 1 additional point on eligible purchases at specified partners.
The additional point applies at Metro, Brunet, and Première Moisson in Quebec, and Jean Coutu in Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick. You must present your Moi card and pay with the credit card. The loyalty program’s base point is earned separately.
An eligible $100 purchase at Metro in Quebec can therefore earn 300 points, before bonus offers: 100 program points and 200 credit card points. Together, they are worth $2.40.
The credit card’s additional partner point does not apply at Super C. Eligible dining, gas, and electric vehicle charging purchases earn 2 credit card points per dollar, depending on the merchant category.
Example: $800 in monthly groceries
This calculation assumes 12 monthly periods with $800 in eligible purchases at Metro in Quebec. It excludes taxes, promotions, welcome offers, and annual fee rebates.
| Card | Credit card rewards | Moi program points | Regular annual fee | Annual net rewards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scotia Momentum® Visa Infinite +* Card | $384 | $76.80 | $120 | $340.80 |
| BMO CashBack® World Elite®* Mastercard®* | $336 | $76.80 | $139 | $273.80 |
| moi RBC Visa Credit Card | $153.60 | $76.80 | $0 | $230.40 |
This assumes that the spending caps are fully available and no other purchases use them. A pharmacy does not become a grocery store because it sells food. Compare the best credit cards based on your other spending too.
Our advice
Present your Moi card, activate useful coupons, and use your points before a long period of inactivity. Then compare the final basket price. Points provide a discount on planned purchases, rather than a reason to spend more.

Frequently asked questions about Moi
How do I activate my Moi card?
If you received your card in-store, complete your registration through the official Moi website. This links the card to your account and lets you use points. You can then manage your card and coupons online or in a participating app.
What are 1,000 Moi points worth?
They provide $8 off because 125 points equal $1. You must have at least 500 points in your account before using points. One point is therefore worth 0.8 cents, rather than 80 cents.
Does Super C award Moi points?
Yes, through qualifying bonus offers. However, Super C does not award base points per dollar. Present your card to benefit from eligible offers and use your points under the program rules.
Can I use Moi in Ontario?
Yes, at participating Metro, Food Basics, and Jean Coutu stores. Metro Ontario awards 1 point per $3 in eligible spending. Food Basics awards bonus points, while Jean Coutu awards 1 point per eligible dollar.
Why are my points missing?
The terms allow up to one business day for points from an in-store purchase to appear. Credit card points follow a separate schedule. If you forgot your card, have your receipt stamped before leaving the store, then return within 14 days.
Do points expire without purchases?
The program provides for points expiry and account closure after 18 consecutive months without a purchase or reward transaction. Watch for official notices. Signing into your account alone does not replace this activity.
Do I need the RBC credit card?
No. The Moi loyalty card lets you earn and use the program’s points. A credit card adds its own rewards. Compare its net return, fees, and eligibility requirements before choosing one.
