Loading article…
If you’re like most people, you probably wouldn’t mind saving some money on your groceries and maybe even saving some of the time it takes to physically go to the store to do the shopping.
Conveniently, with a PC Express Pass, you can enjoy precisely these perks since the membership lets you save time and money through online grocery shopping and discounted delivery and pick-up fees.
In the sections below, we’ll go over everything you need to know about PC Express Pass, letting you explore whether this service can help make your grocery shopping easier and more affordable.
PC Express Pass – What Is It?
The PC Express Pass is a membership program that gives you discounts on the cost of grocery pick-up and delivery offered through PC Express.
PC Express is an online grocery shopping portal owned by Loblaws Co. Ltd. that lets you fill your grocery cart online and then have your haul delivered or made ready for easy pick-up.
With your PC Express Pass, you can shop online at 12 different stores under the Loblaws umbrella:
PC Express Pass – How Does It Work?
A PC Express Pass costs $9.99/month or $99.99/year, making it relatively accessible for fans of the Loblaws brands and the PC Express online grocery shopping service.
Additionally, there are often welcome offers involving either a discounted rate for the year, a free trial period, and/or extra PC Optimum points when you sign up.
Not only that, but you can also get the membership for free when you have the PC Insiders™ World Elite Mastercard®, one of PC Financial’s four co-branded credit cards that let you earn PC Optimum points on all your purchases.
To sign up for a pass, simply go to the program’s website, click on your favourite grocery store brand, and hit « Sign Up. »
As a pass member, you save on all types of pick-up and delivery services, including same-day and rapid pick-up (30 minutes or less) options.
To give you a sense of these savings, let’s compare the costs with and without a PC Express Pass:
| Service | With PC Express Pass | Without PC Express Pass |
|---|---|---|
| Future delivery (next day or later) | Free | $1 fee + $4.99 delivery |
| Future pick-up (next day or later) | Free | $1 |
| Same-day delivery (2+ hours) | Free | $1 fee + $8.99 delivery |
| Same-day pick-up (2+ hours) | Free | $1 |
| Rapid delivery (30 minutes or less) | $3 (when available) | $5 fee + $8.99 delivery |
| Priority pick-up (within 2 hours) | $3 (when available) | $5 |
As you can see, the biggest savings is in the free delivery that comes with the membership.
As a PC Express Pass member, you save $4.99 and $8.99 on future deliveries and same-day deliveries, respectively.
Once you’re a member, these discounted prices will be automatically included whenever you place an order, so there’s no need to do anything additional — just make sure you’re signed in to your participating account.
Plus, in addition to unlimited free delivery, you also get the following perks:
- 2% back in PC Optimum points on eligible pick up orders
- Free shipping at Shoppers Drug Mart and Joe Fresh
- Exclusive offers and deals
- Ability to stack offers with other PC services, like PC Optimum
- Option to subscribe to products so you never run out
- Option to add multiple addresses to send groceries to family and friends
PC Express Pass – Is It Worth It?
The PC Express Pass is a good way to save some money if you’re a fan of the PC Express service and use it often enough to justify the membership cost.
For example, if you order future deliveries twice in a month, you’ve essentially broken even with just two orders, and if you opted for same-day delivery twice a month instead, you’d immediately be saving money.
If you often shop online for your groceries, or even just shop online a couple times a month, the service could be worth it.
However, keep in mind that some areas don’t offer PC Express delivery, which will make it more difficult to extract good value from the membership.
