RBC Avion Rewards: How Do I Transfer Points Between Two Accounts?

RBC Avion Rewards: How Do I Transfer Points Between Two Accounts?
Share

RBC Avion Reward points can be transferred between different credit cards, and even between different people. This is particularly useful if you’re closing a card, want to combine your points with those of your spouse for a trip, or simply want to centralize all your points in a single account.

Here are all the options available to you and the steps you need to follow to make these transfers a breeze.

RBC Avion – Transfer Points Between Two Accounts of the Same Holder

Transferring points between RBC Avion accounts is quick and easy. You can do so online at Avion Rewards, or by telephone with a customer service agent.

Online

Here is the step-by-step procedure for transferring your points from the Avion Rewards website:

  • Log in to your Avion Rewards account.
  • Click on Activity in the main menu.
  • In the Points tab, click on the Transfer points button.

  • Select the source card from the From dropdown menu and choose the destination card from the To dropdown menu.
  • Choose between transferring all points or a specific amount. You can also set up recurring transfers.
  • Click on Continue.

  • Check the transfer details on the confirmation page.
  • Click on Transfer to finalize the operation

That’s it! A confirmation will be displayed with your new points balance and a confirmation number.

The transfer is immediate and cannot be cancelled. However, you can transfer the points back if you change your mind.

By Phone

To transfer your points by phone, contact RBC Avion Rewards at 1-800-769-2512.

Before you call, make sure you have:

  • Card numbers (source and destination)
  • The amount of points to transfer

The agent will proceed with the transfer after verifying your identity. The transfer is immediate, just like the online method.

This service is available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (ET) and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ET).

Other Transfer Options

Avion point transfers are also possible between:

  • A personal credit card and a corporate credit card
  • RBC bank account and Avion credit card

In all cases, the transfer procedure remains the same. All Avion points, whether from a credit card or an RBC bank account, can be combined on a single card.

RBC Avion – Transfer Points Between Two People

RBC Avion Rewards allows points to be transferred between cardholders, including spouses and family members.

Eligibility Rules

Airline points can be transferred to:

Here is an excerpt from the Avion Rewards program terms and conditions for bank accounts:

The primary cardholder and the co-applicant of the account (if applicable) can transfer Points from the Rewards account linked to their account to another Rewards account linked to any other eligible account that either of them also owns as the primary applicant, co-applicant, primary cardholder, co-applicant or business owner, at any time, in accordance with the program terms.

How to Proceed

To transfer points, both people must be joint holders of an RBC bank account (chequing or savings) or credit card. The transfer process takes place online, but requires a few preliminary steps.

If you choose a joint account, you can add a co-applicant online at RBC. Both people must already have an RBC chequing or savings account to proceed. Alternatively, you can open a joint account in-branch.

To add a co-applicant to a credit card, you need to apply in-branch or fill out a co-application form and mail it in. This option is less beneficial in most cases, since you’ll have to pay the fees for an additional credit card.

Once co-owner status has been established, it takes 4 to 5 days before points can be transferred between accounts. Each person must have their own Avion Rewards account.

The procedure for transferring points then remains the same as that explained above.
