CIBC has launched the CIBC Adapta Mastercard, a new card with no annual fee. The main distinction of this card is that it automatically adapts to its holder’s spending habits.
This means you don’t have to adapt to your credit card, because it adapts to you and your spending habits.
With this offer for the CIBC Adapta Mastercard, you can get a value of up to $200 as a welcome bonus, with no annual fee:
3,000 Adapta points (up to $25) on your first purchase
An additional 3,000 Adapta points (up to $25) after $1,000 in cumulative spending over your first four statements
A free Skip+ membership (a $110 value)
A roadside assistance membership (a $50 value) provided by the Dominion Automobile Association, including towing, battery boost, fuel delivery and more
With the CIBC Adapta Mastercard, you can earn:
1.5 Adapta points per dollar in your top three monthly spending categories; or
2 Adapta points per dollar on eligible travel purchases made through CIBC Travel powered by Expedia; or
1 Adapta point per dollar for all other purchases
Plus, link your CIBC Adapta Mastercard to Journie Rewards to save up to 10¢ per litre on fuel at participating stations. And since it’s a Mastercard credit card, you can also use your CIBC Adapta Mastercard at Costco.

The CIBC Adapta Mastercard is a no-annual-fee card that stands out for its flexibility: it automatically determines your three main spending categories each month and rewards you more for them.
Cardholders accumulate :
1.5 points per full dollar eligible in the top 3 monthly categories;
1 point per full dollar and eligible on all other purchases.
The categories are :
Grocery and drug stores
Pet stores
Dining and drinks
Gas and EV
Transit and parking
Entertainment
E-games and subscriptions
Home improvements
Electronics
Clothing
Health and beauty
Hotels and motels
So, if you spent a total of $1,000 this month, mainly on clothing, groceries and transit, these three categories of spending will earn you 1,500 Adapta points (1,000 multiplied by 1.5 points).
The minimum annual income required to qualify for the CIBC Adapta Mastercard is $15,000.

Adapta points redemption
There are 3 ways to redeem and spend your Adapta points:
Pay off your outstanding credit card balance: every 1,500 Adapta points equals a $10 payment on your outstanding balance;
Make payments or contributions to your CIBC financial products: each 1,200 Adapta Points equals $10 in payments or contributions;
Get a statement credit for a recent purchase (pending transaction): every 1,500 Adapta points earns $10 in credit applied to your card.
The best value is to make a contribution and invest in your RRSP, TFSA or other CIBC accounts. You’ll get a better redemption rate (0.8 cents per point) than the other options (0.67 cents per point).
So, if you get all 6,000 Adapta points from the welcome offer, you can :
Contribute $50 to your CIBC RRSP, TFSA or other plan
