New CIBC Adapta Mastercard

CIBC has launched the CIBC Adapta Mastercard, a new card with no annual fee. The main distinction of this card is that it automatically adapts to its holder’s spending habits.

This means you don’t have to adapt to your credit card, because it adapts to you and your spending habits.

The CIBC Adapta Mastercard is a no-annual-fee card that stands out for its flexibility: it automatically determines your three main spending categories each month and rewards you more for them.

Cardholders accumulate :

  • 1 point per full dollar and eligible on all other purchases.

The categories are :

Grocery and drug storesPet storesDining and drinksGas and EV

Adapta points redemption

There are 3 ways to redeem and spend your Adapta points:

  • Pay off your outstanding credit card balance: every 1,500 Adapta points equals a $10 payment on your outstanding balance;
  • Make payments or contributions to your CIBC financial products: each 1,200 Adapta Points equals $10 in payments or contributions;
  • Get a statement credit for a recent purchase (pending transaction): every 1,500 Adapta points earns $10 in credit applied to your card.

The best value is to make a contribution and invest in your RRSP, TFSA or other CIBC accounts. You’ll get a better redemption rate (0.8 cents per point) than the other options (0.67 cents per point).

So, if you get all 6,000 Adapta points from the welcome offer, you can :

  • Contribute $50 to your CIBC RRSP, TFSA or other plan
  • Or, pay off $40 of your outstanding balance or pay off a recent purchase with your CIBC Adapta Mastercard Card.

Other CIBC Adapta Mastercard features

Other features and benefits include :

  • The first Touch Card design by Mastercard in Canada, with a notch allowing visually impaired people to easily identify their card in their wallet;
  • Vertical orientation;
  • Made of recycled plastic;
  • Roadside assistance included ($50 value);
  • Purchase insurance and extended warranty;
  • 12-month free trial of Skip+;
  • Save up to 10 cents per liter on gasoline with Journie Rewards.
