Vancouver had donned its most beautiful spring colours during my visit for a press trip to the Canadian Rockies. Scents of cherry blossoms, pleasant temperatures for exploring the city on foot, and radiant sunshine; even Vancouverites seemed to marvel at such beautiful days. My stay at the Fairmont Waterfront, within walking distance of Vancouver’s most beautiful spots, already promised to be most enjoyable.
For this stay, the rate for one night in a Signature Harbour View King Corner room started at $647 CAD.
Located a few steps from Canada Place, in the harbour district, the hotel offers splendid views of the mountains and the harbour. From the airport, it takes about 45 minutes by taxi or public transport with the Canada Line to Waterfront station in 25 minutes.
By staying at the Fairmont Waterfront, you are just a few minutes’ walk from several popular areas of the city, including the historic Gastown district, Stanley Park, the convention centre, the cruise terminal, and, of course, the waterfront promenade.
The completely glass-enclosed lobby is bathed in natural light, allowing you to keep an eye on the incredible mountain views. Works by local and Indigenous artists adorn the walls, chairs and sofas are arranged here and there for guests, and in a more intimate corner, you’ll find the reception and concierge desk.
I was lucky enough to get my room upon arrival, even though it was early in the morning, allowing me to drop off my suitcase before heading out to explore the city. The staff is very welcoming, smiling, and courteous the second the taxi drops us off at the door.
The ARC restaurant is also located in the lobby with its elegant bar.
My room, the Signature Harbour View King Corner, was not only spacious, modern, and bathed in natural light, but the 180-degree view from the two large windows took my breath away. There’s even a large bay window in the bathroom.
On one side you can see seaplanes taking off, and on the other, ferries and the harbour. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the armchair by the window allowed me to admire ships departing at sunrise.
I really appreciated the desk, although it was difficult to concentrate with such a view. I had to search a bit for the coffee corner with the Keurig machine, hidden in drawers to the left of the minibar.
I certainly loved the Rose 31 bath products (available in all hotels of the chain) and the cozy bathrobe. The soundproofing was very good, even if you obviously hear the small planes taking off and the sirens of the cruise ships departing. If I had to point out a small drawback: the absence of a balcony, even if the view from the large windows largely compensated.
ARC offers seasonal local cuisine featuring producers from British Columbia. I was also able to tour some of the restaurant’s suppliers by visiting Granville Island Market with the chef.
Open from morning until evening, it is particularly renowned for its weekend brunch and artisanal cocktails. The “Happy hour Sip and Shuck” oyster and bubbly moments are particularly popular, and honey from the bees foraging on the roof is at the heart of several dishes.
Room service is also available, which I used for breakfast. By ordering the night before using the card left during turndown service, it is delivered at the requested time the next morning.
The Fairmont Waterfront features a year-round heated outdoor pool with views of the mountains and downtown, a jacuzzi, a well-equipped fitness centre, plus a spa offering massages and facials. I did not use the spa services, but the pool and fitness room were impeccably maintained. The lounge chairs are perfect for sunbathing between visits.
The hotel also offers some original activities within its facilities. I was able to attend a Sound Bathing session, an immersive relaxation experience guided by soothing sounds and therapeutic vibrations, offered in a tranquil space of the hotel.
Another unique activity: a visit to the rooftop garden where you can meet the beekeeper responsible for the hotel’s hives, learn more about urban beekeeping, and taste the honey produced on-site, also used in the ARC restaurant’s signature dishes and cocktails.
The neighbourhood is ideal for exploring Vancouver on foot. Within minutes, you can go to Gastown for its steam clock and small shops, walk along the harbour promenade, or join Stanley Park for a bike ride.
The Fairmont Waterfront is an excellent choice for those who want to combine comfort, a dream location, and spectacular views. The service was impeccable, the facilities very well maintained, and its proximity to all downtown attractions makes it a perfect place for a first visit to Vancouver or a stay before a cruise or before departing on the famous Rocky Mountaineer train. I particularly recommend it to couples or professionals attending conferences, as it is across from Canada Place.
The Fairmont hotels are part of the Accor Live Limitless program. Since the joint announcement on July 22, 2026, between American Express and Accor, Membership Rewards Points also transfer to ALL Accor Live Limitless, at a rate of 2 Membership Rewards Points for 1 ALL Reward point (minimum transfer of 1,000 Membership Rewards Points). For a stay at the Fairmont Waterfront Vancouver, where the Signature Harbour View King Corner room tested in this review had a rate of $647 per night, this bridge between the two programs provides a concrete way to grow already accumulated Membership Rewards Points. Holders of the American Express Platinum CardMD, including the Business and Corporate versions, will also automatically receive ALL Gold status later in 2026 (no specific date has been announced), which grants access to free Wi-Fi, welcome amenities, late checkout, and an upgrade subject to availability.
