As I said in my two previous reviews, I divided my stay in several of the chain’s hotels in Dubai, all equally different and strategically located, as follows:

The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is part of the luxury portfolio of Marriott International, which aims to meet the special needs of wealthy and demanding travellers such as business travellers. It’s one of the highest hotels in the world.

The « Marquis » range aims to offer a much higher level of comfort, personal service, meeting rooms and technology worldwide.

Booking at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai

To book my stay at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, I could have either used 40,000 points per night (low season rate) or paid $130 per night.

Review : JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai | Marriott Bonvoy - Rate Jw Marriott Dubai

I chose this second option: during COVID-19, the hotel rates are low, so it doesn’t make sense to burn points. Of course using my Marriott BonvoyMD American ExpressMD* Card to earn 5 points per dollar.

The hotel offers a huge choice of luxurious and contemporary design rooms in its 2 towers, offering 1,368 rooms on 72 floors with 240 Suites. It represents one of the largest hotels in the Middle East!

The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai addresses the needs of Dubai’s leisure and business tourism industry.

The design of these 2 iconic towers, such as the two towers’ trunks’ details, evokes a date palm, a fruit that is very symbolic in Arab culture.

The whole reflects the progressive and forward-looking ambitions of Emirates Airlines and the city of Dubai.

Various services are offered:

Location

The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai or Emirates Park Towers is a modern hotel with two towers, located within the Business Bay area.

It is located 8 minutes from the lively Burj Khalifa Tower area or 10 minutes from the business district, also known as DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre). District.

The hotel is located 15 minutes from Dubai International Airport.

The nearest subway station is located 15 minutes away: Business Bay.

Around the hotel

It is possible to walk along the promenade Dubai Water Canal. You can get closer to the Dubai Waterfall or go to Safa Park. This large park has the advantage of offering a very beautiful panorama over the centre of Dubai.

As a general rule, taxi fares are okay. Count about 28 dirhams ($CA 10) from the hotel to the impressive Burj Khalifa, a tower renowned worldwide for its size (828 m – 163 floors including 153 usable floors).

You can go up « At the Top » to the 124th and 125th floors to enjoy the view of the city or take advantage of the lounge services from the 154th to 152nd floors for an afternoon brunch or tea. Below the tower (Downtown Dubai) is the Dubai Mall and The Dubai Fountain and many other activities.

In addition to bringing together thousands of companies, the DIFC district, located not far from the Burj Khalifa, is also becoming increasingly popular. It responds to the lifestyle of business people by offering them numerous shops, cafés and restaurants, galleries, residential apartments, gardens and hotels.

Lobby of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai

The arrival at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is impressive at first sight with the high pillars. The taxi is parked in the parking lot.

The car park is covered by a semi-open architectural sheet-like structure supported by cylindrical pillars. At night the structure is illuminated in blue/purple hues, .

A valet immediately takes care of opening my taxi door (as in any Marriott hotel in Dubai) and picking up my suitcase when I get out of the taxi.

We’re entering a beautifully proportioned hall. I’m here again with the staff to take the temperature by scanner.

The valet will wait until I have completed the reception desk paperwork to accompany me to my Suite. Thanks to the Titanium Elite status and following the chat negotiations, I have been granted a very nice upgrade to a Deluxe Corner Suite.

The decoration is sophisticated, in soft, neutral shades mixed with wooden furniture.

My Suite at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai

My Corner Suite consists of 4 rooms:

  • a dining room with entrance including a small shower room;
  • a large living room with a view of the bay;
  • a very large bedroom with a king size bed, a desk and a large dressing room, with a corner view;
  • a very large bathroom.

Living room – Dining room

At the entrance, a full-length mirror hanging on the left, and on the right a small bathroom.

Then we go into the dining room. Two sideboards face each other with a large hanging mirror. In the center, a dining table with 4 comfortable chairs.

All the essentials for coffee and tea are arranged on the buffet near the entrance in elegant wooden boxes, as well as two bottles of water and a small ice bucket in a wooden box. All this on a wooden tray, too.

And let’s just say the coffee machine isn’t the most modern I’ve seen.

The living room is large and has a wide view of the bay. Under the glass of the coffee table, a QR code to access the hotel’s menus. A TV is installed on the opposite wall with a Bose sound system.

Bedroom

The bedroom is separated from the living room by a heavy sliding door. In the bedroom, there is a desk attached to a wall made of wooden panels.

The office seems inviting, however I was not able to work there with the computer. The chair has not been designed with this in mind, it is much too low! Too bad.

The King bed is comfortable and the bedding pleasant. A nice setup. On the bedside table on the right,

  • a tablet to control lights and other buttons like calling room service;
  • a Bose alarm clock with iPhone support (does not work for all iPhones like mine);
  • disinfectant wipes;
  • and sound and television controls.

These technological elements lacked modernity. The touch screen worked at will and was not intuitive. I mean, I would have appreciated a USB plug, too.

A huge pillar was in the bedroom and behind it a corner sofa with a coffee table. Honestly, this corner lacked the light to make it attractive. I guess it was designed so that you could sit and watch the view of the bay.

Review : JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai | Marriott Bonvoy - suite 013

Before going to the bathroom, a make-up corner is available with a large mirror. A box with the hair dryer was on the counter.

Note, two things that are ill-conceived and irritating:

  • the mirror’s way too high when you’re sitting down to see yourself.
  • There is no plug available at this place to dry your hair: you have to connect to the socket on the bedside table.

The dressing room is huge and bright with a wardrobe space on either side and a mirror in front.

The lights come on as soon as we pass by. Ironing board, slippers, and a few hangers are there.

At the office, 2 electrical outlets for computers, 2 ethernet outlets, 2 USB outlets. The temperature setting is modern.

For the lights, a little more complicated: I sometimes understood nothing of what I was turning on or off! It’s supposed to be easy I know, but for example I’ve searched a lot, I couldn’t find any switch in the living room to turn it off! Even from the tablet, I don’t remember it working. I was just closing the sliding door.

The bathroom

You enter the bathroom through a sliding door where you find, in a room on the right, the toilet room with bidet.

Review : JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai | Marriott Bonvoy - suite 025

A large counter with two beautiful basins dominates the room. Always decorated with touches of hardwood and diffused lighting.

Review : JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai | Marriott Bonvoy - suite 026

A deep bathtub is placed along the window with a small step to access it, very appreciated. Also the controls for opening the water are clear (handy!).

A new wooden box brings together various classic care products and accessories.

Review : JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai | Marriott Bonvoy - suite 027

Finally, a modern shower with two long product alcoves completes the set; a long bench faces it.

A little detail that has been poorly thought out: the shower head remains very high even when it is at the bottom of the arm.

    My overall impression of the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai

    As you may have noticed, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai offers very nice services to travelers and is more oriented for business people. I really enjoyed my experience because of the beautiful Suite and the Executive Lounge.

    However, I think it is less suitable for families compared to the more human-sized Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai.

    In order to benefit from the best rates, it is best to use the Marriott Bonvoy program. You will also benefit from multiple advantages such as free breakfasts or a welcome gift by having a status.

    It’s easy enough to call taxis or Uber through the app! It will take you about 15 minutes to get there from the airport. Valet service for an additional fee.

    Unfortunately pets are not allowed in the hotel.

    There are two main methods to earn Marriott Bonvoy points through credit cards: Directly: with the two Marriott Bonvoy credit cards. Both cards each come with an exciting welcome offer. And, for each of your expenses, you can earn Marriott Bonvoy points. Besides, upon renewal, with each of these cards, you get an annual reward night certificate. To find out all about the Marriott Bonvoy Program, check our ultimate guide to Marriott Bonvoy. Indirectly, by transferring points from one of the six American Express Membership Rewards cards. These cards each offer a nice welcome bonus. You can transfer Membership Rewards Points to Marriott Bonvoy at the rate of 1:1.2. This means that by transferring 50,000 Membership Rewards Points, you will get 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points! Our favourite card here will be the American Express CobaltTM Card because of its quick accumulation of Membership Rewards points for everyday spending(groceries, convenience stores, restaurants).

    The Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card is the best credit card in Canada for free hotel nights.

    New Cardmembers can earn up to 110,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points with the current offer:

    • Earn 80,000 points after you spend $6,000 on your Card in your first 6 months of Cardmembership.
    • Plus, earn 30,000 points by making a purchase during your 15th month of Cardmembership.

    This offer ends on September 22, 2026. The annual fee is $120, and there is no annual fee on Additional Cards, so you can add a partner or a family member at no extra cost.

    Every year after your first Card anniversary, you receive an Annual Free Night Award good for a redemption of up to 35,000 points at eligible hotels and resorts worldwide. At a valuation of 0.9 cents per Marriott Bonvoy point, that certificate is worth roughly $315, which on its own more than covers the $120 annual fee. That is the main reason to keep this Card year after year instead of cancelling it.

    To get the most out of the certificate, aim it at a night that would otherwise price close to the 35,000 point ceiling.

    The Card also gives you 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year and automatic Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status. Those credits count toward the next Elite tier, so you begin every year 15 nights ahead of where you would otherwise start.

    You move up to Gold Elite status automatically when you reach $30,000 in purchases on the Card in a year, or when you combine 10 qualifying paid nights within one calendar year with the 15 Elite Night Credits from your Card.

    Marriott Bonvoy points are generally valued at 0.9 cents each. On that basis, the 110,000 point welcome offer is worth about $990, and an Annual Free Night Award used at its full 35,000 point ceiling is worth about $315.

    Marriott Bonvoy points pull their weight on free nights rather than on gift cards or merchandise, which is why this Card should be judged on the hotel stays it produces.

    You earn 5 points per dollar on eligible purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels and 2 points per dollar on all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for free nights with no blackout dates at more than 7,000 hotels around the world.

    The Card carries a solid package of coverages: $500,000 travel accident insurance, flight delay, baggage delay, lost or stolen baggage and hotel or motel burglary at $500 each, car rental theft and damage up to $85,000 for rentals of up to 48 days, Purchase Protection for 90 days and a one year Extended Warranty.

    Two things to plan around: the 2.5% foreign transaction fee on purchases made in a foreign currency, and the 21.99% purchase interest rate, which makes this a Card to pay in full every month. Like all American Express Canada Cards, no minimum income is published for this Card, and you can see whether you would be approved before you apply, with no impact on your credit score.
