National Bank Offer for Professionals: Save Up to $2,213 a Year

Are you a CPA, nurse, engineer, teacher or public servant? National Bank reserves a preferred banking offer for about a dozen fields: chequing accounts with no fixed monthly fees, preferred-rate lines of credit, included services and a rewards credit card. Depending on your profession, the bank puts the potential savings between $1,313 and $2,213 a year.
The National Bank offer for professionals has one central condition: you must hold an eligible rewards credit card. I'm a CPA, and this offer is what moved me to the World Elite. Here is how it works, field by field. To compare with other cards on the market, see our ranking of the best credit cards in Canada.
National Bank groups eligible professions by field. Each field has its own conditions page and its own advertised savings amount.
| Field | Who is eligible (examples) | Advertised annual savings |
|---|---|---|
| Doctors and health professionals | Doctors, residents, medical students, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, veterinarians, chiropractors | Up to $2,213 |
| Accounting and finance | Members of a CPA order, CFA charterholders, actuaries | Up to $1,688 |
| Law | Lawyers and notaries who are members of a professional order | Up to $1,688 |
| Engineering | Engineers who are members of an order or hold a university engineering degree | Up to $1,688 |
| Architecture | Members of an order of architects | Up to $1,688 |
| Information technology | Programmers, developers, systems analysts, consultants and managers, software engineers | Up to $1,688 |
| Administration | Graduates of an eligible business school, MBA or bachelor of administration holders, HR and industrial relations advisors | Up to $1,538 |
| Agriculture and fishing | Owners of a farming or fishing business | Up to $1,538 |

| Education | Elementary to college teachers, full-time university professors, remedial teachers | Up to $1,313 |
| Public service | Full-time employees of governments and Crown corporations, military personnel, retirees of these employers | Up to $1,313 |
| Entrepreneurship | Business owners who hold a National Bank business account | Up to $1,313 |
In every case, the bank asks you for proof of employment, of your degree or of membership in a professional order or association. The offer must also be renewed every year by presenting ID and proof of your status. The full list is on National Bank's offers for professionals page.
This is the foundation of the offer. You can hold up to 3 bank accounts with no fixed monthly fees. They include unlimited digital and in-branch transactions, as well as unlimited, free Interac e-Transfers. Overdraft protection is also included, along with access at no extra cost to ABMs in THE EXCHANGE network.
To benefit from the offer, you must hold one of these three National Bank cards: the Platinum Mastercard, the World Mastercard or the World Elite Mastercard. Annual fees apply, with one exception for doctors and other health professionals: their page lists a World Elite with no annual fee.
| Card | Annual fee | Minimum income | Earn rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| National Bank Platinum Mastercard | $70 | None | Up to 2 points per dollar on groceries and restaurants |
| National Bank World Mastercard | $115 | $50,000 personal or $80,000 household | 1.25 points per dollar on all purchases |
| National Bank World Elite Mastercard | $150 ($150 annual travel credit) | $80,000 personal or $150,000 household | 5 points per dollar on groceries and restaurants (up to $2,500 in total spending per statement), 2 points per dollar on gas, travel and recurring payments, 1 point per dollar on everything else |
I chose the World Elite. It gave me the best return in points, and I travel a lot. Its $150 annual travel credit covers its annual fee when I use it in full. For a first rewards card with no income requirement, however, the Platinum remains the entry point.
This is often where the biggest savings hide. The offer reduces the spread added to National Bank's prime rate, which was 4.45% as of September 30, 2026. The discount varies by field.
| Field | Personal Flex Line | All-In-One (home equity) |
|---|---|---|
| Doctors and health professionals | 4.20% to 4.45% depending on the profession | 4.20% to 4.45% depending on the profession |
| Accounting and finance (CPA, CFA, actuaries), law, engineering, architecture, IT | 4.70% | 4.70% |
| Administration, agriculture and fishing | 4.95% | 4.80% |
| Health sciences, education, public service, entrepreneurship | 5.20% | 4.95% |
| Without the offer | 8.45% (typical line of credit) | 5.45% |
These rates are variable: they follow the bank's prime rate and remain subject to credit approval.
The offer also gives you access to favourable terms on your mortgage. In parallel, National Bank advertises mortgage promotions worth up to $8,750 in cashback, for a limited time.
The $1,313 to $2,213 amounts are illustrations calculated by National Bank. For the CPA offer, for example, the $1,688 in annual savings is based on a typical profile that holds two chequing accounts, a World Elite card and an All-In-One line of credit with a $150,000 balance. Here is the breakdown provided by the bank:
In other words, two thirds of the savings come from the home equity line of credit. If you rent or don't have an All-In-One line of credit, your real savings will be much more modest. They remain worthwhile: accounts with no monthly fees are still worth several hundred dollars a year.
Two promotions are added to the base offer this fall. They are temporary and mainly target new clients.
Your spouse or partner can also enjoy the same benefits by signing up for an additional eligible Mastercard® credit card.

For a professional who already has, or plans to have, a mortgage or a line of credit, this offer is hard to beat. The rate discount on an All-In-One line of credit weighs far more than the card's fees. The accounts with no monthly fees do the rest.
For a young professional with no debt and no real estate project, the math is simpler: compare the eligible card's annual fee with the bank fees you pay today. If you travel, the World Elite and its annual travel credit often tip the balance in your favour. The National Bank offer for professionals brings together chequing accounts with no fixed monthly fees, preferred-rate lines of credit and included services, provided you hold an eligible rewards card. The advertised savings are real, but they depend mostly on your home equity line of credit. Before your appointment, run the numbers with your own bank fees and your own debts.

The offer covers about a dozen fields: health, health sciences, accounting and finance, law, engineering, architecture, information technology, administration, agriculture and fishing, education, public service and entrepreneurship. Each field has its own list of professions. National Bank asks for proof of employment, of your degree or of membership in a professional order. Check your field's page on the National Bank website to confirm your eligibility.
Some fields accept students or recent graduates. The doctors' page includes medical students and residents. In engineering, a university degree is enough, even without being a member of an order. In information technology, proof of studies at a recognized institution is accepted. For other fields, you generally need proof of employment or membership in an order. No. Three cards are eligible: National Bank's Platinum, World and World Elite. The Platinum is the most accessible, since it requires no minimum income. The World Elite offers the best return in points and an annual travel credit that can cover its fees, but it requires a higher income. The eligible cards table above compares their fees and conditions. Our review of the Platinum card details the most accessible option.
The included accounts have no fixed monthly fees. The main cost is therefore the eligible credit card, which ranges from $70 to $150 a year depending on the card you choose. Doctors and other health professionals can get the World Elite with no annual fee, according to their field's page. Note: if you cancel the eligible card or replace it with a non-eligible card, the bank charges $12.95 a month on your accounts so you keep the other benefits.
Yes. Your spouse or partner can get the same benefits by signing up for an additional eligible Mastercard credit card on your account. Additional card fees may apply depending on the card you choose. Confirm the conditions with your advisor at your appointment, since they can vary by field. To make the most of your cards as a pair, also read our guide to points and credit cards for couples.
No. The rates on the Personal Flex Line and All-In-One lines of credit are variable. They equal National Bank's prime rate plus a spread that depends on your professional field. As of September 30, 2026, the prime rate was 4.45%. If the Bank of Canada changes its policy rate, the bank's prime rate and your line of credit's rate will generally follow. The offer's discount stays the same as long as you remain eligible.
