Your Tims runs will earn in two loyalty programs starting in 2027, and Tim Hortons coffee comes onboard WestJet flights on November 30, 2026. Both companies announced the partnership on September 17, 2026. Here is what is confirmed, what remains unpublished, and the card that earns on your coffee today.

Until account linking arrives, the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard remains the most direct way to put WestJet points on your everyday spending. We come back to it below, with the numbers.

Charge at least $5,000 in purchases to your card each year and you receive a World Elite Companion Voucher for a round-trip flight, starting at a $119 base fare, plus taxes, fees, surcharges and other air transportation charges. You can exchange it instead for a 30% flight discount for one traveller, a $200 credit towards a WestJet Vacations or Sunwing Vacations package, or airport lounge passes. The exact number of lounge passes granted is to be verified against the RBC terms in force.

Status Lift: $200 in tier qualifying spend per $5,000
Your everyday purchases move you towards Silver, Gold and even Platinum status. You earn $200 in tier qualifying spend for every $5,000 in purchases charged to the card, up to 50 times per year.

Flight Roast comes onboard November 30

From November 30, 2026, you will drink Tim Hortons coffee on WestJet flights that already offer in-flight refreshments. Tim Hortons tea will be served as well.

The blend carries its own name: Tim Hortons Flight Roast, created exclusively for this partnership. According to the September 17 release, it is a 100 per cent Premium Arabica blend. Its full medium roast brings hints of toasted nuts, cocoa and red fruit.

The in-house coffee experts at Tim Hortons built it to taste its best at 35,000 feet. Cabin pressure and dry air dull how you perceive aroma. The roast therefore targets altitude, rather than copying the in-restaurant blend as is.

The release sets the scope and stops there: flights that currently offer refreshments. It names no cabins and no pricing. We will update this section once WestJet publishes its service details.

Account linking arrives in 2027

In 2027, you will be able to link your Tims Rewards and WestJet Rewards accounts, then earn in both programs on eligible Tim Hortons purchases. Linking will also unlock offers and promotions reserved for linked members.

One nuance deserves your attention, because the release uses two formulations. Its summary announces WestJet points on all eligible Tim Hortons purchases, while the loyalty section describes points from both programs. The difference matters to your wallet, since it decides whether your coffee feeds one balance or two.

Four items remain unpublished: the earn rate, any caps, the list of eligible purchases and the precise 2027 date. WestJet and Tim Hortons say those details will come closer to rollout. "This is just the first sip of something bigger," said Hope Bagozzi, Chief Marketing Officer for Tim Hortons.

What linking will change for you

One benchmark will serve you the day the program opens: we value the WestJet point at 1 cent, according to our points and miles valuation. Every 100 points is therefore worth $1, whether you redeem for a flight or for a vacation package.

Now take your own coffee budget. At $15 a week at Tims, you put roughly $780 a year through the merchant. The moment WestJet publishes its rate, a single multiplication will tell you what linking adds to that budget.

Above all, remember that linking and your credit card stack. The program credits your loyalty account, your card credits the same purchase on its side, and both gains land on the same cup.

Earning at Tim Hortons today

Two cards already work on your Tims purchases, and they suit different profiles.

The American Express CobaltMD Card earns 5 points per dollar in the eats and drinks category, which covers restaurants, bars, groceries, convenience stores and food delivery. A $2,500 monthly spending cap applies to that rate, after which earning drops to 1 point per dollar. A coffee budget never comes close, so you keep the full 5X. On the $780 in our example, you earn 3,900 Membership Rewards points a year, worth $66.30 at our 1.7 cent valuation.

Its $191.88 annual fee is billed in monthly instalments of $15.99. The welcome bonus reaches 15,000 points, at 1,250 points for each billing period in which you charge $750 to the card. We value that bonus at $255, which leaves $63 in the first year once the fee comes off, before any rewards on your spending.

If American Express does not suit your file, the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard takes over and feeds the very program at stake here. It earns 1.5 WestJet points per dollar on everyday purchases, and 2 points per dollar on groceries and transit. On that same $780, you collect 1,170 WestJet points, or $11.70.

Its welcome bonus climbs to 70,000 WestJet points, an offer valid until November 4, 2026. It reaches you in three instalments:

  • 30,000 points on your first purchase
  • 30,000 points after $5,000 in purchases within three months
  • 10,000 points on your first account anniversary

At 1 cent per point, that bonus is worth $700. Once the $139 annual fee comes off, you keep $561 net in year one.

You also get the first checked bag free, for up to nine people on the same booking. An annual companion voucher comes on top, from a $119 base fare, when you charge $5,000 to the card during the year.

When does Tim Hortons coffee arrive on WestJet flights?

Service starts on November 30, 2026. Tim Hortons coffee and tea will be served on WestJet flights that currently offer in-flight refreshments.

What is Tim Hortons Flight Roast?

It is a blend created for this partnership. It is a 100 per cent Premium Arabica blend, roasted to a full medium, with hints of toasted nuts, cocoa and red fruit. The Tim Hortons coffee experts designed it to be enjoyed at 35,000 feet.

Is Flight Roast served on every WestJet flight?

The release points to flights that currently offer in-flight refreshments. It specifies neither the cabins involved nor any pricing. Those details remain unpublished.
In 2027. Neither the precise date nor the steps to link the two accounts have been published.

How many points will a Tim Hortons purchase earn?

The earn rate is unpublished. The release states that members with linked accounts will earn on eligible purchases, and that details will follow closer to the 2027 rollout.

Do you need a WestJet credit card to benefit from linking?

No. Linking runs on your loyalty accounts, not on a card. A WestJet card does add its own points to the same purchase.

How much is a WestJet point worth?

We value it at 1 cent, for a flight ticket as much as for a vacation package. A balance of 10,000 points therefore represents about $100 in value.

Which card should you use at Tim Hortons until 2027?

The American Express Cobalt Card earns 5 points per dollar in the eats and drinks category, under a $2,500 monthly cap. The WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard earns 1.5 WestJet points per dollar on everyday purchases and feeds the program this partnership targets.
