This transfer is limited to members who hold United Premier status. If you fly United often out of Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver and have reached that status, the offer applies to you. Other MileagePlus members cannot convert miles to Marriott points.
What the United to Marriott transfer bonus includes
The United to Marriott Bonvoy transfer bonus applies to every conversion made during the offer period.
Offer period: until November 30, 2026
Bonus: 20% extra Marriott Bonvoy points
Ratio with the bonus: 1,000 United miles become 1,200 Marriott Bonvoy points
Minimum transfer: 500 MileagePlus miles per conversion
Promotion registration: not required
The name on your MileagePlus account must match the name on your Marriott Bonvoy account, or the points will not post. An annual cap on convertible miles applies per member: check the amount shown in your MileagePlus account before a large transfer.
Who can transfer United miles to Marriott Bonvoy
Converting miles to Marriott Bonvoy points is a benefit of the RewardsPlus partnership between United and Marriott. You need to be a member of both programs and hold valid United MileagePlus Premier status.
Choose the option to convert miles into points and sign in to your MileagePlus account.
Pick the number of miles, in amounts of at least 500, then confirm.
Check your Marriott Bonvoy balance over the following days.
Posting times can vary. Do not wait until the last minute if a specific booking depends on it.
Is this transfer worth it?
In most cases, no. By our valuations, a United MileagePlus mile is worth about 1.6 cents and a Marriott Bonvoy point about 1 cent.
1,000 United miles: about $16 in value
1,200 Marriott Bonvoy points received: about $12 in value
Difference: about $4 lost per 1,000 miles
Even with the 20% bonus, you give up value. United miles are more useful for award flights, including on Star Alliance partners.
The transfer makes sense in one case: you are a few thousand Marriott Bonvoy points short of an award night you have already found, and your United miles have no flight planned. Topping up a balance this way costs less than buying points.
Other benefits of the United and Marriott partnership
The RewardsPlus partnership also includes status benefits and a transfer in the other direction.
United Premier Gold members and above: Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status upon registration
Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite members: United MileagePlus Premier Silver status upon registration
Marriott Bonvoy to United transfers: 3 points for 1 mile, with 10,000 bonus miles for every 60,000 points transferred
If you hold United Premier status and are short on Marriott Bonvoy points for a specific booking, transfer only what you need before November 30, 2026. Otherwise, keep your United miles for flights: the conversion loses value, even with a 20% bonus.
When does the United to Marriott Bonvoy transfer bonus end?
The 20% bonus applies to transfers made until November 30, 2026. After that date, the ratio returns to 1 United mile for 1 Marriott Bonvoy point.
How many Marriott Bonvoy points do 1,000 United miles get you?
With the 20% bonus, 1,000 United MileagePlus miles become 1,200 Marriott Bonvoy points. Without the bonus, the same transfer gives 1,000 points.
Who can convert United miles to Marriott Bonvoy points?
Only members with United MileagePlus Premier status, from Premier Silver to Premier 1K, can make this conversion. You also need a Marriott Bonvoy account.
Do I need to register for the promotion?
No, registration is not required for miles-to-points conversions. The name on your MileagePlus account must match the name on your Marriott Bonvoy account.
What is the minimum transfer?
Each conversion must be at least 500 MileagePlus miles. An annual cap per member also applies, so check it in your MileagePlus account.
Is transferring United miles to Marriott Bonvoy a good deal?
Rarely. By our valuations, 1,000 United miles are worth about $16, while 1,200 Marriott Bonvoy points are worth about $12. The transfer is mainly useful to top up a balance for a specific award night.
Can I transfer Marriott Bonvoy points to United?
Yes, at a ratio of 3 Marriott Bonvoy points for 1 United mile. Marriott adds 10,000 bonus miles for every 60,000 points transferred.
