Flying Air Transat from Canada means comparing the final fare, baggage, and comfort on your particular flight. A lower starting price can lose its appeal once you add seats and bags.

This guide focuses on Air Transat as an airline. Official information checked on October 28, 2026. Its loyalty program is still in an invitation-only test at that date.

Air Transat departures from Canada

Start with your airport, including Montréal-Trudeau (YUL), Toronto-Pearson (YYZ), or Québec City (YQB), and check dates in the official Air Transat booking engine. Routes vary by season. A result can include a connection or a partner-operated segment.

Read “operated by” for every flight. The Porter partnership supports some Canadian connections, but aircraft, service, and conditions can differ between segments. Compare a through ticket with the connection risks of separate positioning flights.

Cabins: Club Class or Economy with extras?

Air Transat uses different aircraft and cabin layouts. Read the seat map for your flight rather than relying on the aircraft family alone. The official A321LR page identifies Club and Economy seating. An aircraft change can also change your selected seat.

Club Class offers a distinct cabin and service. However, do not assume the lie-flat bed found in some competing long-haul Business Class products. Check the actual seat, recline, space, and inclusions.

In Economy, Option Plus and extra-space seats are paid options depending on the flight. They do not turn an Economy ticket into Club Class. Compare their combined cost with a fare that already includes the services you need.

Fares and baggage: compare the same basket

Air Transat fare options include Eco Budget, Eco Standard, Eco Flex, Club Standard, and Club Flex. Inclusions also depend on the destination. Your last European trip does not establish the allowance for a sun destination.

Before paying, compare:

Bags: the personal item, carry-on, and checked bags needed throughout your itinerary.
Seats: advance selection, family seating, and extra-space charges.
Flexibility: changes, fare differences, refunds, and deadlines.
Total cost: flights, extras, airport transportation, and any overnight stay.

An included bag on an Air Transat segment does not establish the allowance on a separately ticketed partner flight. Save the conditions you purchased, and review your booking after schedule changes.

Airport services and lounges

The “Club” name alone does not establish complimentary airport lounge access. Check the services listed in your booking and the lounge’s own admission requirements. Priority check-in and boarding are separate benefits.

If a credit card includes lounge visits, check the network, terminal, registration, and guest rules. An independent lounge benefit does not create Air Transat status or an additional baggage allowance.

Which points can book Air Transat?

The new program remains a test

The official Air Transat loyalty site still describes invitation-only access and a waitlist. Test conditions can change. We therefore do not present experimental earning rules or future Desjardins Visa cards as products available to everyone.

VIPorter: book a partner flight through Porter

The official VIPorter FAQ allows points, or points and cash, for available Air Transat flights booked through Porter. Use flyporter.com or the Porter call centre.

Redemptions cover the eligible base fare; taxes and fees remain payable. Check your dates before collecting points for this purpose. This is a VIPorter partner booking rather than a transfer into Air Transat’s program. Read our VIPorter program page and Porter airline guide.

Which Canadian cards fit?

Scene+: pay for travel and apply points

The Scotiabank Gold American Express Card earns Scene+ points. You can apply them to eligible travel purchases under Scotiabank’s conditions.

This route lets you compare cash fares before using points. Despite its American Express payment network, the card does not earn Membership Rewards or fund VIPorter. Check the purchase category, redemption window, and usable balance.

Buying points: start with a specific booking

Air Transat’s test program does not establish a public points-purchase route this guide can recommend. For VIPorter, check the options actually offered in your account and confirm the partner booking before any transaction.

For Scene+, compare the travel redemption with the cash ticket. In every case, add taxes, fees, and baggage. A points balance does not guarantee an available flight, and buying points does not hold a fare.

Is Air Transat’s loyalty program open to everyone?

As of October 28, 2026, the official site still describes an invitation-only test and a waitlist. Experimental terms do not establish a general public launch.

Can I book Air Transat with VIPorter points?

Yes, for available partner flights offered through Porter. Book through Porter; points cover the eligible base fare, while taxes and fees remain payable.

Does Option Plus upgrade me to Club Class?

No. Option Plus adds services to an Economy ticket, depending on the flight. Club Class is a separate product shown in the booking.

Does every fare include baggage?

Allowances depend on the fare, destination, and segments. Check the personal item, carry-on, and checked bag separately before paying.

Does Club Class have a lie-flat bed?

Do not assume a lie-flat Business Class bed. Check the actual seat and recline in the product description and seat map for your flight.

Does a Scotia American Express card transfer to Air Transat?
